  1. Probably a creditor...
  2. For a bloke who normally posts intelligently this is incredibly naive. It is not about repyaing the debt now, it is about agreeing to sell the business as a going concern. If the entire club was liquidated, different story.
  3. £28 to watch two teams get relegated. No chance. And they wonder why grounds are empty these days...
  4. I have been unlucky with this club. I started going when our team numbered four England Captain's and the European Footballer of the Year in its ranks. My first match as a teenager in the stands with pals was a comprehensive demolition of Liverpool - the easiest 2-0 victory you will ever see (Wallace outjumping Alan Hansen... lol). For at least five years, I was regularly able to watch us beat Liverpool - narrowly miss out on two cup finals - and delight in victories over team floundering around the mid-table mark (Arsenal, United, Everton, Leeds)... Great times. By contrast, a pal started to watch Chelsea. I went with him to watch them play Pompey at Fratton Park. Both teams were at the bottom of Division II - Chelsea escaped relegation to Division III by a whisker. It was some of the worst football I have ever seen. I wouldn't swap our respective teams - ever. But while our journey has been steadily down (minus the odd blip), his has been the reverse. People like me feel our position badly. We've tasted ambrosia (of a sort) and now we have a diet of sour milk. But, as sure as eggs are eggs, you cannot kill a club with a century of tradition. We will come again. It may not be next season, or the season after. Or even several after that. But we will come again and all those young people like my pal, who start supporting a club on its knees do have the great opportunity of seeing it rise. Stick with it and so might we. Better still, HELP to RAISE it. We may never stand on the shoulders of giants. But we will be back, in our own way. And perhaps, like my good Chelsea supporting pal, will have the opportunity to stand at the back of the ground, smiling and sing: "Where were you when we were sh!t?" Answer. We were here. Where we've always been. Where we always will be.
  5. Amen. Look after the first team, the rest will run itself!
  6. Perhaps if we appointed Kevin Keegan, invested in the side and showed the same belief and ambition in our future our gates would match...
  7. I'm not convinced the players are the problem. Look at Leicester. The key thing is to get the RIGHT MANAGER with the right backing from the board and to have a full pre-season of build-up, training, fitness and motivation work to hit the ground running. We write players off like HBOS writes off debt at this club. Most of them can do a job (Wotton aside ) - they just need: Organisation Motivation Discipline Fitness Desire Belief! These are instilled by a team ethic, work ethic and commitment ethic. These are down to the infrastructure and management at the club. Players in form get picked, out of form get dropped. Players play for one another and the club. Players try from 1 minute to 95 minutes. This tone can be set from the board and MUST be instilled by the manager. To jettison quality players because they have been mismanaged, played out of position, under-trained and demotivated/demoralised would be a mistake. Most of them are not the sharpest knives in the drawer and at the moment are simply confused by the Dutch nonsense...
  8. 4k highest ever weekly salary mate. Ask him. It's in black and white in his testimonial programme too!
  9. I think we had one of the best managers in the league and also four England captain's in our ranks. They wouldn't have been far off the salaries of bigger club players because there was no huge disparity. Heady days. As regards Wolves, you're also looking at a top quality manager who has been promoted twice(?) from this league and didn't do a bad job in charge of Ireland, versus a pratt. I'm loathe to condemn players. None of them chose their salary and none of them wants to be part of a losing side. They don't ask for humiliation every week by choice. Look at the difference between Spurs under Ramos and Redknapp - same players. Yet Ramos can manage Real Madrid??? It's a complex game but we've had two clowns in charge this year and our players know they have precious little time left with us... It's a car wreck and while I rail and wail about the players, in my heart I know where the fault lies - organisation, management, fitness, belief, motivation - those are just a few of the things our team lacks...
  10. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the temporary decline is terminal. The three wins were a flash in the pan from a demotivated, demoralised, under-trained, under-organised shower. 42 games in and we can't mark at corners.
  11. Hasn't football always been about: 1. The best manager. 2. The best players. And the best sides having both?? You can have either and succeed.
  12. It's why we need a proper buyer with real cash, sadly.
  13. It's impossible to compare, agreed, but Wotte has had a full season here and been part of the mastermind duo/plan that lumped us in this mess. So for me, it's a no thanks.
  14. Seriously, we will have fun so long as we go into it forgetting about the past!
  15. I've missed old Spongebob!
  16. NOOOO!!!! So long as they tick the box marked cash. That's what we need. Start with that and then pay someone to steal their top-class manager. Simples - as Alex would say...
  17. Good question - but overpaying is a great route to success (ask Chelsea)!! I bet the top payers in the league this season are Leicester. As for 'worth' - no, who is worth 14k a week? But if them's the circumstances, you have to accept it. Put it this way, you could overpay on wages (like Mandaric) for one year and get back up in 12 months or play it safe and never come back...
  18. All of which were said on relegation to THIS league. What this club needs is a cremation. We need a total clear-out under new buyers and the installation of the BEST MANAGER WE CAN AFFORD. Beyond that, everything else is irrelevant. We need to start thinking like winners, not the "prudent, budget for relegation" thinking that got us into this stinking hole. Until we have a Chairman/owner/board who understand that the natural order of football clubs places the order of importance on the first team and first team MANAGER we will keep sliding to oblivion.
  19. Truth is, I don't really care about players' wages. Market forces and all that... But I do detest paying wages and not getting value in return. To come straight back up, we will need to pay decent salaries to DECENT footballers, assuming we exist - which I personally think is still less than 50%...
  20. MLT - top salary at Saints 4k. BWP - 8k. Jason Euell - 14k. There is the reason 90% have given up caring about football...
  21. Not Nigel Pearson. Because (despite Radlley and a country pile) only one of Lowe and Pearson has any class to speak of. Well done Nigel - you deserve your success.
  22. Second bottom on last eight games in today's Racing Post.
  23. seriously, i would rather play a tub of lard than Wotton
  24. 23k in wages comes off the bench... Money well spent. Euell couldn't finish a ham sandwich...
  25. If I was Fry I would hand back the Golden Share and bring the curtain down. Let's start again somewhere else - Salisbury maybe - and just remember all the great times. There isn't a player on the field who deserves to be mentioned in the same lifetime as Ted Bates. SFC - dead. Time to be buried I fear.
