I actually thought it was a decent window, but not signing a striker doomed us I still think if we appointed a manager anywhere near competent we’d of been ok.. Jones doomed us
-
Ive had a look through and actually its reported that City want 15-20m so not as bad as I first thought But Fulham and Burnley have been sniffing so he’s probably out of our reach Personally I don’t take much notice of what the majority of football fans think because generally they don’t know what they’re talking about
-
He’s back training, he’s apparently been ‘ill’ He’ll be off, im 90% sure of it
-
We have their ex academy director and clearly we have strong links, rightly or wrongly They probably have the best academy in the prem right now, atleast one of… if we are getting preferential terms on players that Wilcox knows intimately then Im here for it
-
When you look at the overall metrics for both Wood and Harwood Bellis they are both very close, HB is younger and and U21s captain.. overall Id probably be more comfortable signing him, but both look good options at this level If Wood is available at around 10m and City want circa 30m for HB then it probably makes sense to push for wood, especially as he knows the RM system
-
Not for me thanks
-
Isn’t Archer more similar to Armstrong then Che ? If so.. I can’t see us moving for Archer
-
I understand it, and Ill wait to Sept to see what we do, but Im still disappointed with it Im generally pretty optimistic as far as Saints/SR is concerned BUT this feels a bit cheap really, Id of preferred closer to 20m
-
Pretty disappointed with that if Im honest 3/3… suits the system well 15m feels cheap considering the potential impact on our season
-
It must be draining finding negativity in everything
-
His passing stats are abysmal, Im not sure its much of a concrete link either Im not overly impressed if it is
-
Id actually like to see him loaned out, he showed good promise in France and I do think there is a player in there.. so lets see If so then yeah we’ll need 2 in probably, if/when we sell Adams Onuachu just isn’t suitable at all, so im not really even counting him
-
Oh… missed that sorry Point still stands, he’ll get picked up in Europe and will almost certainly return in a year or two imo
-
Yeah I think if ABK stays then we only need one, and tbh Charles is also able to play CB too so that helps But what with the yellow cards we’re picking up its not unreasonable to want 5 capable CBs and Im fully expecting Lyanco or ABK.. or both.. to depart Yeah if we lose Adams or Mara then we certainly need a striker Tella is more than happy to stay, but a fee above 20m would tempt me, because I don’t think he’s worth it personally, and so I think we seem to be pricing the likes of Tella/KWP high so as to allow them to go for a silly fee.. but hopefully avoid losing them
-
He’ll end up in Europe on loan for a season.. score a bucket load, then will be welcomed back with open arms unfortunately
-
I don’t care hiw good he is/potentially is.. I have too many morals to support a women beating rapist from the sidelines quite frankly If the footballing world was right then he’d never play professional football again
-
Not sure a striker is really, but we almost certainly need 1 probably 2 CBs 6s - Downes/Charles/Smallbone 8s - Smallbone/Downes/Stu ?/Armstrong ? 10s - Alcaraz/Stu/AArmstrong/Aribo/Doyle I think we’ll see one more body for the 8.. Doyle will end up on loan probably
-
Just cover I think
-
Yeah, both Martin and Alfie have intimated thats the case too, which Im happy about Be interesting to see what level they are… do they push for a start ? Does it block Smallbone etc ?
-
Was messing, I think my first choice 11 would be; Baz KWP Stephens New CB Manning Alcaraz Charles Downes Tella Adams Armstrong Obviously if we do cash in on Adams we need a replacement Id also like to see an extra CM/CB for depth
-
Yeah if we play with 14 and everyone else 11 then Im more than comfortable with the idea we’ll be promoted
-
I like him, very effective close dribbler, good eye for a pass, his xA last year was pretty high, he’s young hungry, guaranteed to improve AND ex City academy so fits the Wilcox black box criterion He clearly doesn’t like headers though
-
Or.. Everton would likely double his wages and he’s also back in the prem.. similarly to Gnonto who is trying to force a move there.. its an easy gamble, try and get a relegation clause inserted into the contract, guarantee some better wages and competition for a year.. worst case you get relegated and could probably try and get a move again.. I think Everton, as shit as they are, will get away with it again because the PL is so weak this year anyway The difference I ‘suppose’ with Che is he has an option of seeing out his contract and being available for free next year and so can probably negotiate a better contract somewhere, but again, you have a risk of significant injury etc Gut feel is he’ll go for around 15m and we’ll get Holgate
-
Exactly that Shea, as much as he was a gamble and still is, is atleast a 6, a position we needed to fill. Winks can’t play there and is probably on decent wages
-
Have we finished arguing about whether or not we’re richer than the other 23 teams yet ? Its only taken 5 pages ? FWIW I think we probably are in a better financial position, atleast as far as FFP is concerned then 90% of the football league now BUT, if we were to be offered 15m+ for Che it does put us in a position I suppose - Last year of contract - Do we have realistic replacements ‘lined up’ - What convos have we had with him ? Is he likely to down tools if we deny a move ? Utlimately I would rather keep him unless the fee is either towards 20m OR we get a player in the other direction.. (Holgate ? Godfrey ?) there is of course a risk that we gamble on keeping Che and we dont get promoted, because as we’ve seen with QPR and their FFP struggles, you get caught eventually I still don’t think the squad needs any huge overhauls now… try to rid the deadwood and (on current make up) bring in 2 x CMs and probably 1 or 2 CBs.. outside of that it’s maintaining what we have Im hopeful that we can now sit down and say to players they aren’t leaving unless we get stupid offers for them.. in terms of KWP or Tella I do think they are significantly easier to replace than Che will be though, we’ve seen there is a huge shortage of decent strikers available this year… hence why Everton/Palace are after Che
