  1. Yes, problem for him is that all the evidence is that he is NOT better than that! So maybe he should be more grateful that Antwerp have given him an opportunity to play and get his career back on track. Anyway, hope we can find a way to get him permanently off the books in the summer, as having him and his massive attitude back at the club is the last thing we need. 2. That was the way I saw the game. Unfortunately, a lot on here can’t see beyond the result and their opinions on the performance are totally coloured by that. If Valery hadn’t made his error and we had come away with a point, a good proportion of those saying the players were terrible and a “disgrace” would be praising the exact same performance. As you say, second half Newcastle never looked a threat until Valery’s error and that was down to the hard work of the 10 players still out there.
  3. Yeah, first half they missed chances granted. Penalty though was from a bizarre random piece of play by Boufal. Second half they really didn't threaten from where I was sitting. Obviously the howler from us gifted them the points. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  4. I honestly didn't think Newcastle were a threat in the second half even with the extra man. Not really sure what game you were watching if you thought they kept missing. Game was decided by the sending off and an individual error. Other than that I thought our players put in a very decent shift today and deserved a point for their efforts. 5. I think it's the right decision to play a specialist RB and will be good to have JWP back in midfield. Valery situation is odd though. Hope Boufal can show a bit more today, and a Djenepo goal would be good to see after his last couple of weeks. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  6. Hmmm, quite conflicted about this. Definitely don’t want Liverpool going the whole season undefeated as we’ll never hear the end of it. But on the other hand, would love to see West Ham go down....
  7. I agree main problem with VAR implementation at present is the remit is far too wide, which is making it too disruptive to the overall flow of the game. They are trying to use it to solve everything when that will never be achieved to the satisfaction of everyone anyway because so many decisions are subjective in football and down to interpretation. It needs to be limited more, either just to specific events that can be accurately ruled on, eg offsides, or by introducing a referrals system where each team gets max of say 2 referrals to VAR, if they are successful they keep their reviews, if they are wrong they lose them. Then it wouldn't be compulsory for every goal to be reviewed (apart from offsides), only reviewed for other matters where managers think they have seen a clear error. That should make it more in the spirit I think it was intended which was to remove the clear howlers made by on field officials, not to pore endlessly over every minute occurrence in the game trying to find something to overturn. 8. So far so good but need more goals. Hope Djenepo can get one second half, could still be a big player for us over rest of season with Redmond out. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  9. Home to Burnley in a storm? Only ever going to go one way, wasn't it? Don't know why I bothered watching. Just have to write this one off and move on to the next. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  10. Need to make changes here surely. Adams got to be worth a go today. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  11. Been slightly disappointed with Armstrong so far. He's busy and seeing plenty of the ball but his passing has been off today. Hopefully will come good in second half. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  12. We're creating openings going forward, just need a bit more composure with final balls. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  13. What was Ralph thinking about dropping Bednarek FFS? Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  14. Hopefully we can settle down a bit now and play our game. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  15. Great strike!!! Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  16. That is good news. Was almost certain JWP wouldn't make it for this one. On balance though would do us a favour if this did get called off as conditions must surely suit Burnley more than us. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  17. I think you're right. We all know his weaknesses but there is no player in the team who fits Ralph's way of playing as well as Long, and he's a very good option to have available in the squad. There's no doubt our attacking play has improved since he has come back in as a starter this season. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  18. This will be a good test for us to see if we can bounce back after tonight's disappointment after playing so well, and also against the type of team we normally struggle with. Will need a whole hearted fully committed performance to win so could certainly do with having JWP available in midfield. How we fare in this one could set the tone for what kind of end to the season it's likely to be? Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  19. Agree with all you have said except I don't think you can blame Gunn for 2nd goal, well placed shot right in the corner. I actually think he hesitated slightly in coming out for the last goal though, if he'd have been quicker he would have got there before Son. I agree it's daft not picking your No1 keeper for a game like this. Both Tottenham's late goals were far too easy the way they cut through the middle of our midfield. Romeu and Hojbjerg definitely should do better, and Vestergaard predictably couldn't then cope with Moura running at him for the 2nd. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  20. Yes it seemed like we worked so hard throughout the match to get in front, dominating for much of the time really. But once we were in front, it looked like we stopped doing what we had done so well defensively up til then. At the end of the day we are still frail at the back and need more quality and know how. Spurs upped their game just a bit when they went behind and defensively we couldn't handle it. Annoying as we should have won this game comfortably based on performances of the 2 sides. 21. Brilliant goal from Oxford!!
  22. Andy Carroll (obviously fails the good player part of the question though) Going back a bit further, Alan Smith and Lee Bowyer of Leeds. And Craig Bellamy was a detestable little ****, although I did quite admire his ability to wind everyone up, often even his own team mates! Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
  23. In that case it’s unacceptable really. It would certainly have been at least reviewed had it been the other way around and decision most likely reversed. Shows that VAR, whilst an improvement in terms of getting the right decisions, still provides enough wriggle room for the officials usual bias towards the favoured teams.
  24. Seriously, we ought to make an official objection next time he is selected to ref us. At least that would make them think twice about giving him our games in future after that. Does anyone know definitively whether VAR did review the penalty on Ings or not? Was this referred to in post match interviews?
  25. In fairness on the BBC website live reporting, it said that VAR did review it. No idea if that was accurate though.
