I used to see Dougal walking his dogs in Fleming Park, some 20 years ago. So rumours of his demise are grossly exaggerated. He was, at one stage, one of the Milton 'faces'.

I feel that this is a pertinent question: Am I right with my memory that if a relegated PL team gains promotion at the first attempt, it's second (subsequent) payment gets shared among FL teams or something to that effect. In other words that re-promoted (thanks for that word RL) does not receive it? So, a big what if. What if Poopey get promoted (against all odds and my hopes)? That second, subsequent payment has been mortgaged, or part of it dished out already (I CBA to do the maths). Where does the EPL go from there? They have nowt to dish out (if my thinking is correct). I'm aware, of course, that Poopey will be able to pay off that mortgage as they will be in receipt of SKY/PL money (if only for that one season).

I can't understand why some of us (fans in general) are on his back. He came in very late during the close season, that gave him very little time to get to know the players and identify where we needed improving. The team itself, which nearly always reflects upon a manager, needed time also to gel. I think that AP and the team have done very well despite all those inconveniences and distractions. I would have been happy with stability (maybe I'm not that 'driven'?) but to be where we are is beyond my expectations. I have the confidence that we will do well in this dvision next season and will be promoted. Just as an aside to this thread, because I went searching for any possible gossip, I found this. Yup, and looking back at the interviews I have heard this season he has always seemed honest and positive. The man sounded guarded to me. What would make him guarded? Possibly negative comments from people on here, in the press? Yes, he's always going to get it but what do people realistically expect from Saints this season? Bearing in mind that AP came to us late in the preparations for the season. Maybe some players he had his eye on had already moved on? We'll probably never know. To me AP and the team have done well this season so far. From what I see, hear and read it all bodes well for a good season next time. Let's judge him at the 18 month stage when we can really see what is happening.
