  1. Except this time - clearly :-)
  2. Sounds like complete bad luck for that group if you ask me. We were in the same group as you (or just behind you). When we came out of the ground we actually ended up moving to the left of the crowd and ended up near the guy with the kid on his shoulders. After a few tannoy announcements we then moved back to the right. When the gate was opened we were free to walk through up the alley way to the station (after a couple of scheduled stops by the police). If we had stayed put, we would have been trapped in the same "final" group that you are talking about. If the police were being selective about who they kept behind they were not doing it very well.
  3. I think you quoted the wrong post, but thank you for making my point for me anyway :-)
  4. I will wait until tomorrow to hear that and then make up my own mind ;-)
  5. Utter B o l l o x.........doh! Fallen off my perch
  6. I can see where the "dinlow"s are coming from though (maybe I am one too :-) ) The Echo said "Saints have made a move to sign Doncaster Rovers skipper Brian Stock, it was revealed tonight." What does "made a move" mean and who "revealed it"? Surely they are alluding to some contact (or even a bid) between the two clubs - or they are just embellishing the Solent interview? They then say "But Southampton boss Alan Pardew claimed that two clubs could not agree on a fee for the 28-year-old midfielder" That implies that they have tried to agree a fee and failed - but Pardew does not claim any such thing in his Solent interview. If anything, he just gave the opinion that they would be unlikely to match Doncaster's valuation if they did make an approach. So did he give the Echo a different interview? If he did then I am sure they would have quoted it. Of course, having said that, it would be difficult to believe that Pardew could express an opinion regarding valuations if there had not previously been some sort of dialogue between SFC and Doncaster.
  7. He told me the system only showed 1 away game for me, but I have been to 7. A mate usually buys the tickets and invariably he is told that he only needs to show his own ST to buy the tickets (however many). If they were going to introduce ticket distribution based on ST purchases for away games then they should always insist on the ST customer numbers for each ticket otherwise what is the point? He also did not answer my question about how many Exeter tickets a ST holder can buy. If the same guy who has been buying our tickets can get (for example) 3 Exeter tickets then great. If not - it is a bit of a ****-up.
  8. You mean an ex-Saints defender had him locked up!! I never knew that. Thanks for the info.
  9. That would never fit!
  10. Are you saying that that I won the argument because he had cause to stoop to insults then? :-D I, on the other hand, started low and worked my way up to reasoned debate without any further insults. I have the high ground surely ;-)
  11. That does sound OTT. Once we got off at London Bridge we saw no police at all. We were completely free to go wherever we wanted - it just so happens that we went to Waterloo East and then got on to the 18:05 to Weymouth, but we could just as easily got the tube to Leicester Square. Were you escorted from London Bridge to Waterloo East then?
  12. I think you are crediting the author(s) with too much savvy. I expect it is a completely inadvertent news item with no inference meant.........or is it?
  13. Is the person you are quoting merely pointing out that the Echo have worded the article in a way that suggests that Pardew said a bid has been made and rejected, when he did not say anything of the sort (at least not in the interview with Solent). The comment about "confirmed a bid has been made rejected and that we were not going back for another try." is, I believe, a reference to speculation on here rather than what was or was not in the Echo article.....IMHO I have not read every word of every article or listened to every interview, but what from I have read and heard I cannot find anything that confirms that an actual bid has been made and rejected. The fact that SOD has actually been quoted as saying that this is the case tends to lend weight to that argument too. What may have happened being the scenes is anyones guess at the moment.
  14. Perhaps they do it for the protection of the away fans, not the other way around. That aside, once they have a policy for match days, you can't expect them to vary it depending on the reputation of the club in question. They have to decide on one policy and stick with it consistently.
  15. is it any more erudite to call someone a clueless **** when the matter is discussed further then? Anyone getting upset over responses like that is in the wrong forum. I don't think there are many that haven't responded like that at some point. As for the wotton point in question, despite being a pointless debate, I (and many others) do not agree with you.
  16. You've baffled the hell out of me with that comment, that is for sure.
  17. I listened to it, and I don't hear him say that at all. He says that Stock "is a player I know very well and I know he is from the area but that doesn't mean to say that we can match the valuation of Doncaster for their captain, so that is a bit of a long shot for us". At no point does he mention that we have actually made a bid, unless they have edited the piece since you listened to it.
  18. I was older then. The Anderlecht game was probably my first real major gut-wrenching moment. There have been so many since I have probably gotten used to it, but The Everton semi was a killer it is true.
  19. LOL - so anyone who disagrees with your opinion (of which there are many on the thread in question) is a "meathead". Seaborne barely got his head to the ball and it spooned off diagonally to Trotter - and it is Wotton's fault for not standing where Trotter was?! Now you are trawling around trying to find any scraps that may indicate somebody agrees with your assessment. S_S thought Wotton was the one who messed up the header, and you are taking that as an agreement with your view on matters. Oh dear - sad or what?
  20. Pessimist :-)
  21. I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Time for me to email Mr Luker methinks.
  22. I have a ST and I have been to more than three away games but I haven't bought any of the tickets. My mate who works nearer the ground buys the tickets. Where does that leave me in terms of priority I wonder? PS: Questions for those going by train - Leaving from Parkway or Southampton Central? Destination - Exeter Central or Exeter St David's? How much (I was quoted £70.50 for three)? Raileasy quotes 1 change - but doesn't say where.
  23. Examples?
  24. You clearly didn't go to Saints vs Anderlecht, second leg of Cup Winners Cup quarter-final - 1977. Affected me more than any football match other than the Cup Final the previous year.
  25. I went on my own once - the missus had fallen asleep so I had no choice.
