  1. LOL - the journo was even less audible. Crap recording TBH.
  2. Well I guess a loanee is a good option of there is no suitable permanent signing in the offing. A loanee is low risk option while waiting for the right permie to become available.
  3. Fingers crossed he can defend set pieces. Would like to see a permanent signing at CB also - but who knows what Father Christmas might bring in the next window.
  4. Cellar?! You posh sod.
  5. That is not self important sarcasm is it S_S?! Just kidding, don't bite
  6. Shhhh, young Dickie is taking it all very seriously, bless 'im.
  7. I think the other team would soon complain about us playing with 12 men....or are you going to leave out the GK?
  8. What if Lambert picks Saga and Saga picks Pato and Pato picks Rasiak? Do we play four up front or just drop them all for squabbling and play with 9-a-side instead?
  9. Maybe I am your dad
  10. First of all, football would not be football without the noise/signing/chanting generated by the fans. I spent the latter part of the '70's and 80's right in the middle of it all swaying about in the masses shouting myself hoarse at every game, chanting every song going, getting as close to the away supporters as possible and glaring at them menacingly through the barriers, waving the w@nkers sign at them and asking them to meet me outside - all that bravado that goes with watching a football match. These days I just prefer to sit (stand) and watch the game. I don't want to sing my head off anymore. I don't want to shout abuse at the other fans and pretend I am going to take them all on outside. I don't want to chant. I like to celebrate a goal, jump out of my seat when things are getting exciting, moan and groan when things go wrong, but singing and chanting just makes me feel like a ****. I like to hear it all and I like the atmosphere, but I don't particularly want to take part anymore. Does that mean I can't go and watch my team without being accused of being a knob? Should I hang my head in shame for not joining in the latest rousing rendition of "Wotton is a w@nker" or "My old man...."? Do I deserve all I get from the fat bloke at the back who wants to castigate me for not doing so? Possibly - if everyone was like me the football matches would be like morgues, but I still want to go - please.
  11. He did OK last night, but much as I hate to criticise players who pull on the Saints shirt, he really is not good enough (at the moment) to play in the first team - certainly not in such a crucial position given our track record on set piece defending. Trouble is we have no alternative (yet).
  12. What a joke statement. So your mate walked through the entire Stratton End vetting each person and deciding whether or not they were knobs? Tell me, what qualifies as a "knob" these days in football fan parlance? I was sitting (standing actually) in that stand and the people around me seemed pretty decent citizens doing their best to encourage the team - with the obvious moan and groan here and there when things went tits up. They didn't seem like knobs to me, so maybe you need to take a closer look at your mate to see what a knob really looks like.
  13. That what I was chuckling about in an earlier post. LMFAO.
  14. Well it made me chuckle ...and I think most supporters would be moaning like hell at that show. To think we are somehow different to all other supporter groups in this regard is nonsense IMHO
  15. I don't understand. Are you saying that he is already demoralised about the possibility of this appointment next Summer and so cannot be bothered anymore (already)? By what you said in that post and the thread title it seems that is exactly what you are implying - correct?
  16. One of the better moments whas towards the end, when the entire away end started doing the "sub" gesture with both hands. LMFAO - mainly because I have never seen that done spontaneously by some many people. Even better was the fact that Saga immediately stripped off and came on
  17. Yes I read both interviews completely, but I didn't see anything that alarmed me at all - just a difference in terminology. I also read that AP and Cortese are in constant touch (texts and 6.00am etc) so I would like to think that they are both singing off the same songsheet - not deliberately making contradictory statements via the press. It would not be the first time a paper has tried to make a mountain out of a molehill (even if only by implication).
  18. Yeah but personally I think that you may be seeing a problem that isn't there. I hope so. Depends what you mean by "football matters". Clearly if the D o F is going to be poking around in the coaching and the team then it won't work, but I can't believe that is the case. I think it will mean that AP is on sole charge of the team, coaching, who is picked to play etc etc and the D o F will handle all the other aspects like transfer negotiations etc. AP is subservient to Cortese, so what is the problem with him being subservient to somebody who understands more about the world of football than Cortese does. Both Cortese and AP need someone like this - Cortese because he is not from a football background and AP because he is too swamped with stuff that deflects him from dealing solely with the team etc. IMHO of course.
  19. In all this time you have never mentioned to me the fact that it was you who let the geezer in for the winner. I have to see this DVD. EDIT - Just watched - Lovely lay-off mate :-) Looks like you were trying to hoof it into the stand but scuffed it
  20. He didn't say that the D o F would have to be subservient to him in the interview I saw. He just said that he (AP) would have to be responsible for the selection of players and the setting of the agenda on the playing side. Well that goes without saying really. I would see the D o F as the person who deals with the transfers, fielding the agents calls etc etc. AP would tell him what/who he wants and then can get back on to working with the team while the D o F gets on with making it happen. In the quote he did say "general manager" rather than D o F, but one would hope that Cortese and AP would have already discussed it. “The job is very, very difficult and this is why the mention of a general manager here to take some of that burden away from the manager as we go forward probably wouldn’t be a bad thing,” he said. It worked for us with Alan Ball and LM didn't it?
  21. If only this were true. In truth I am a constant source of disappointment to myself, and ooohterryhurlock. I can't seem to take this forum seriously enough to post anything of substance. I just think of it as a place for some light-hearted entertainment, hence the posts that have clearly got up your nose. Sorry ;-)
  22. Was that the long throw-in that everyone left and Painter nearly turned in? I thought Wotton was giving Thomas grief and he spat the dummy to be honest.
  23. I don't disagree. I just don't see the point in banging on about it in a new thread. We already have a Wotton bashing thread. I have already said that I don't think is up to it. How many different ways are there of saying that he is not very good? We get the message. Let's hope for a good replacement soon.
  24. You clearly missed my edit - however, having read those PMs again (which you initiated) I fail to see where wishing you a good night gave the impression that I was some sort of ultra-male  ...and please tell me where, on this forum it is not common practise to post ones opinions. Maybe I should either not post at all or just post when I want to congratulate somebody or agree with them. Bloody hell, make sense mate for goodness sake!
