Forget the 80's - it was the mid to late 70's that things were really dodgy. The dockers in the west stand (archers end) represented a distinctly intimidating section. The Milton Road end was mainly full of gobby youths (like me but a bit older), and everyone migrated en-masse to the archers to be by the away fans in the early '80's. I do remember some frequent unpleasantries in Hill Lane after matches. It all seemed perfectly normal at the time, but looking back now it was absolutely ridiculous. Mind you, if I see a programme showing people smoking indoors or on planes now I can't believe we all actually thought it was fine at the time.

Although Alpine does post a lot of stuff that winds me up, he hasn't said anything on this thread that is nonsensical or out of place has he? I think some people jump on his posts just for the sake of it (although describing Ramirez as the Uruguayan Darren Anderton was definitely an attempt to press some buttons). That aside, am I alone in feeling a tad uncomfortable with the whole premise of this thread? It only seems like yesterday that we didn't have a pot to pi $$ in, so worrying about £30m not being enough seems a bit crass. Dortmund didn't spend that much to go from also rans to Champions League finalists did they?

Hilarious thread. For a start, what rumours about "all these players leaving"?? The out of contract players may be leaving plus those that didn't get a sniff this season - but who else? What is the KD rumour alluded to in the thread title? Finally KD hates Sainsburys - fact

Happened to us too (twice!). The best therapy for us was to try again - and now we have three. It really helped me, but I think the missus still suffers at anniversaries. Best wishes to Chappers and his missus and I hope they try again when the time is right.
