No. There is a right way to hold a knife and fork, and there is an uneducated way to hold a knife and fork. Little things like holding a knife and fork properly and saying "H" correctly is the making of a civilised man.

Hiring a car is cheaper in tenerife than anywhere else. I always use holiday auto's who in turn use Record Spain. Record Spain are no longer based at Tenerife Sur airport - you find the woman at the airport who puts you on a minibus to the car depot which is about 10 minutes away. One English couple were moaning about this, but personally i thought it was better because when you get in a different car with the steering wheel on the wrong side i think it's easier to join the motorway from a simple road rather than having to navigate out of the airport, likewise it's easier for drop off.

and another pet hate is how some people say "off of".

I love the island of Tenerife because of the micro climate and vegetation due to the geography. You can go from hot sun to snow in an hours drive, from arid moonscapes to lush vegetation. It's a perfect holiday destination if you love nature. Also the people are civilised and hygienic and the roads are good and the food in rural restaurants is really good. I would recomend Los Gigantes also as it's an amazing place next to the highest sea cliffs in europe and close to the teno mountains and the ribben road to masca, but personally the next time i go i'll be staying in puerto de la cruz for a change. A really nice resort with plenty to do and with a great casino. That said Los Giganates is the hottet and sunniest place on the Island so is the best bet for Nov. It beats mucky places like Turkey and Egypt by a country mile.

It's amazing how many people have never been taught table manners by their parents. My mum and my nan were sticklers for table manners as if you can hold a knife and fork properly you can dine with anyone and not show yourself up. It's amazing if you look around restaurants at people who act like they're upper class with a put on voice, but who aren't holding their knife and fork properly. It's very revealing.
