When we were held in at Fratton Park it created a problem for normal fans who weren't on coaches or the train because they had no escort to their cars. If they'd held pompey in for 20 minutes their fans would've stood out like sore thumbs for some nutters to beat up. I presume the decision to let them out at the same time was to look after Pompey fans who wanted to blend in with the crowd and go home without incident.

To be fair the VAT cut to 15% made very little noticeable difference so raising it to 20% won't be noticed too much either. It's a shame it has to go up, but I think everyone (except Gordon Brown) realises we need to tackle the debt mountain.
