But why pick out Cork? Why not sell any of our other squad players? JWP/S. Davis/Chambers? Point being I'd swap almost any of our squad for another Lovren, but that's not how you build a strong squad to compete throughout a season.
-
Mainly tactical substitutions. The facts are, when Wanyama is out, Cork takes his place. He's excellent back-up for Wanyama - its as simple as that really.
-
Not sure what "trusting him eough" has to do with anything, Wanyama and Schneiderlin were our first choice and were doingfine, there was no needfor rotation, Wanyama is injured, so we've had to use our 2nd choice in that posiiton, which was always going to be likely at some point.
-
Our management seem to rate him, just not as much as they rate Wanyama, which is fair enough. Bet they're glad they've kept hold of Cork.
-
You might not rate him as a defensive midfielder, but that's what he is. He is our cover for Wanyama. So yes, "your bad".
-
You don't think Cork is a defensive midfielder? Who has taken over Wanyama's role while he has been out injured? Think you need to watch a bit more football mate.
-
How is Cork 4/5th choice? He's our 2nd choice defensive midfielder - if Wanyama is injured or suspeded, Cork comes in for him.

FA Cup 5th round draw thread (Sunderland Away)
Sour Mash replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
Having booked up for the original League Cup date, then did the rearranged game, then had a nightmare on the train getting up there last week could do without yet another trek up there. However, it it winnable, we do owe them one and the draw means a lot of the bigger teams will be knocked out. Would imagine Sunderland will be focused on Wembley and relegation survival. -

I might have missed something, but why is Townsend's father involved in it? -
He should be getting stick. Head butting a team mate takes things too far, the players obviously don't seem too keen on having him back. Out of interest, how many times would you accept such actions from him before you would think enoughs enough?
-
What has happened? Who's died?
-
Most players are quite capable of playing twice a week, I don't know why some on here panic so much.
-
Have signed and will definitely pass it on, but how many need to sign this? Quite an ask.
-
If it happens so often, I'm sure you can give plenty of examples? Shouldn't take too long really.
-
Fair enough. But who can we get in as a "statement of intent" that will add to our squad without breaking the bank? Can't think of too many players that would fit such requirements.
-
You talking about one coming in now or in January?

What further facts do we need to be able to form an opinion on this?
-
Exactly this really.
-
But they've made this judgement on Osvaldo and it's pretty safe to say they'd be a neutral party.
-
Are you referring to MP and his coaching staff in your post?
-
Exactly. If Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea come in for any of our players, you couldnt blame them for wanting to go regardless of this last week.
-
Why hasn't Fonte been suspended as well then?
-
Ashton does seem the source of any stirring regarding Saints at the moment, all a bit weird.
-
No they don't, not to this extent anyway; how many times have we suspended a player for such actions?
