  1. The North Koreans have a belting anthem The French and the Italians have good anthems, La Marseillaise and Il canto deglia Italia I can certainly listen to. Japan have a rather nice, mellow tune. Have a listen to Libya's new anthem, it's just WTF?
  2. Let the hilarity commence
  3. Done, For the sake of being annoying, there is a howler of an apostrophe on question 6. "Cost's kept to a minimum"
  4. I wonder if the FL have learnt from the last time they allowed Pompey to bring in emergency loans.
  5. Re: Appleton There must be some PR whip that's cracked him into shape. Like others have observed he's gone from being the only rational one to toeing the deluded line with all the rest of them. The same thing happened with Andy Awford a couple of years ago. When I first heard him commentating on Solent I thought he spoke a lot of sense and told it like it was. Then all of a sudden he started coming out with the same guff along with everyone else. He went from Andy Awford to Andy Awful overnight. He left Solent shortly afterwards to coach the Pompey kids.
  6. That is a very useful link
  7. weird, I thought that site got taken down. Just looked now and it hasn't been
  8. Mr Haim I take it?
  9. and what about the majority who are genuine claimants that are on benefits due to long term health problems, whose lives are anything but "cushy"? http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/feb/16/disabled-unpaid-work-benefit-cuts As for this I've haven't seen such a bonkers idea in a very long time. It's right up there with some of Gordon Brown's ideas. A lot of the people won't be motivated to work anyway never mind if they even have the fitness to do so. It'll take one or two poor sods who have been on benefits for years because of a dodgy ticker to drop down dead whilst stacking shelves and the scheme will be dead and buried due to public outrage alone. That's without all the effects it would have mentioned by people above Instead of wasting time picking on the poorest and most vulnerable in our society why doesn't the government try doing something constructive, like creating jobs and apprecticeships FFS
  10. IF(and it is an if) Thorne has signed on loan and WBA are paying all of his wages that's exactly what Pompey should be doing
  11. As bridge too far has pointed out above the BBC article states they could still lose further points at the discretion of the FL
  12. I highlighted a quote from a BBC article a few pages back, where the Supporters Trust claimed that Andronikou had asked them for £100 million as proof of funds
  13. There's no reason under the current rules for them to do so under current FL rules. Its happened in other leagues (like Dundee I think?) but the FL would have to rewrite their rulebook for multiple admins in so many years. They have history for doing so but under the current people I really can't see it happening.
  14. No, no and depends on your definition of "get away with it". They'll be granted admin and they ain't going to be liquidated on Monday
  15. "However the Portsmouth Supporters' Trust have claimed that Andronikou is asking them to provide £100m in proof of funds before any meeting between them could take place."
  16. Friday will be a good indicator of whether this is true or not
  17. So Cork (then 19), Schneiderlin (then 19), Pekhart (then 19), and Robertson (then 21) don't classify as kids because we signed them from other clubs? As for McGoldrick he made 17 appearances for Saints in the Championship seasons 2 years before the 08-09 season. He was playing so "fairly regularly" for us then he was loaned out to Bmouth (league 1) in 06-07 and Port Vale (League 1) in 07-08. As for Lallana he made only 9 appearances in any first team before the 08-09 season 5 were in the 07-08 season. He made 40 appearances in the 08-09 season. He really was an experienced pro at the top level when starting the 08-09 season wasn't he You even give trolls a bad name
  18. question is would you rather he was in Jordan, near where his mates are or in the UK under constant surveillance? Sometimes it is best to keep your enemies closer
  19. I've seen this reported by the BBC and Sky but not confirmed by the FL themselves
  20. Surely they've advanced this just to clear the tax bill?
  21. Congrats to Zambia, amazing story. Winning it in Gabon after the 1993 Zambian team were all killed in a plane crash off the coast of the same country. Enjoyed the tournament, some breathtaking matches and some scandalous tackles flying in all tournament. Didn't have the usual amount of calamitous goals that could only be scored in the AFCON and the goalkeepers weren't that eccentric overall but still a very enjoyable tournament overall. Great to see Sudan, Mali and Zambia do so well. As an aside anyone else hear Libya's bizarre new national anthem? At first I thought they'd played the wrong music and it was a classic AFCON moment. (I remember them forgetting to play one side's anthem before a game before) until the players were singing along with it
  22. The club should ban any fan who starts that chant
  23. The local MP Penny Mordaunt intervened after bringing Pompey's situation up in PMQs. HMRC and PFC apparently met yesterday but we've all heard so far is a rather deafening silence. So it's thought that all HMRC did was continuously say "no" and the meeting ended
  24. Not the worse idea I've seen posted here
