  1. So by Peter Storrie maths, that's roughly breaking even.
  2. Their spy satellites, secretly launched into space by the last socialist government
  3. Didn't post these all on here but Mikael Nilsson is a quality signing. Redknapp will definitely keep us up. Paul Wotton is a complete waste of time. (That's until I saw him play away from home and he gave absolutely everything trying to win possession for us when we lost the ball, which in that team was every other pass) Mark Draper will be a key player for us. Disagree that Niemi is a better keeper than Paul Jones. I will mention however that I called Leon Best's penalty miss in the play-off SF against Derby 5 mins after he scored that own goal, what with Burley bound to choose him as a penalty taker. Anyone call it sooner?
  4. Was a sad day for darts. His battles with Bristow in the 80s were pure box office. Sad the way he ended up but he openly acknowledged he was his own worst enemy in some ways. One of darts' greatest characters though. I'll never forget one incident when he was playing some really slow player, and about 15 mins into the game he walked off stage, got a chair from the crowd and sat on it on stage whilst the other guy was throwing
  5. Race suspended due to heavy rain. Sergio Perez was the first to come in for full wets and it got him up to 3rd. Vergne was wise to the fact that within a couple of laps of full wet tyres being needed the safety car comes out or the race is stopped altogether, and is up to 7th. Karthikeyan is up to 10th.
  6. Also today's result for Pompey means 1 win in 11 games.
  7. But Coventry are also unbeaten in 5 and are keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Today is also a massive result for them and they have in April Peterborough (h) Bristol City (a) an out-of-form Burnley (a) Millwall (h) and Doncaster (h). 5 winnable games IMO. In a form table I've found (last 8 games, not sure if today's results are included) Bristol City are 23rd, Pompey are 22nd, Doncaster are 20th but Coventry are 14th.
  8. Whoops. I remember once in the African Cup of Nations a few years back when before a match the organisers "forgot" to play the Nigerian national anthem, and the players ended up having to sing to it at half time
  9. Melanie Phillips - an ex tree hugging communist turned extreme right-wing paranoid zealot. The women lives in a completely different universe to the rest of us. Most Israelis even denounce her Israel-Palestine views as complete rubbish
  10. I'd have thought pfc's comment was the cue for you to post those images of Pompey away attendances again
  11. I actually completely agree with you on this point. I'm guessing you work in the Forces in some capacity and whilst you and other servicemen/women, policemen/women, doctors, nurses etc. have to work with the horrors of death/serious injury/trauma the wider world often forget these people aren't emotionally programmed any different to anyone else. Infinite amount of training can never be comparable with experience.
  12. What's wrong with that? A lot of people need spiritual guidance at some time in their lives. Pretty much any church does the same for anyone at all for any reason. Enjoying a football match one moment and then completely out of the blue, going through the sudden shock of seeing someone collapse and possibly lose their life, knowing at the same time you can't do anything about it would potentially traumatic for anyone. People will deal with it in different ways, praying about it would probably be one of the most popular. Having been a copper for 30 years, I've witnessed people die and it wasn't any easier seeing it for the umpteenth time than it was the first time. I've seen people blow their (and other's) heads off with shotguns, throw themselves in front of trains. It's the sheer level of shock that is the most difficult thing to deal with and when something is 'unexpected' or 'out of the blue' that's when it can be most difficult to deal with. What do you mean "on the mend"? From the reports I read I'd be amazed if the lad ever walked again, let alone play football. There's no knowing at this stage the amount of brain damage he's suffered. Pulling through and surviving this is one thing, being able to live what he/friends/family would describe as a "normal life" again is an entirely different matter
  13. Anyone from outside Cornwall is a "foreigner"
  14. I really hope I'm/the reports are wrong but just from reading the latest news it looks like it needs a miracle for him to pull through. Undiagnosed heart defect I'd guess Only 23 as well. Jeez. My thoughts are with his friends/family.
  15. TBH must be raking in close to 20-25% of that by himself
  16. Looking at the table we are now mathematically guaranteed to finish higher than 17th
  17. Man City heading out as well. 3-0 down on aggregate to Sporting Lisbon. They need 4 goals in the 2nd half to go through
  18. Their currently drawing 1-1 at Sutton Utd. It's half time. HTH
  19. Don't forget Reading also have to go to Upton Park which is a bonus whatever way you look at it
  20. Didn't know sadoldgit had changed his username. . .
  21. Outside of the UK there's also a Japanese defender who is playing regularly for Inter Milan so he's bound to attract a lot of Japanese interest. One or two in the Bundesliga as well. As for Lee I've been very impressed with him so far
  22. Incredible considering the days under Lowe (and I'm not blaming him personally for this) where we were forever throwing away leads and dropping points left right and centre. Absolutely fantastic
  23. 8 points from safety, could be 9 if Bristol City get a result
  24. Merely looks like more spin from Pompey FC's mouthpiece to me
  25. LOL 2-1 Bilbao
