  1. I think they got transparent and translucent mixed up... fans think they can see the light, but there's little actual detail to be made out.
  2. "Comment From Trevor Oast Until the Trust have actually signed everything, any celebration would be premature. As Neil said above 'up to Trust to seal the deal' ... do they have what it takes?" T.Oast strikes again...
  3. That she doesn't know what she's talking about.
  4. Seems like something will happen shortly then. Nice of Neil to leave the obvious door open with his last bit there though: 'up to Trust to seal the deal'. Still remains to be seen that they have what is needed to do so.
  5. @pn_Emma_Judd: Deal is within "pony and trap distance" - KH Comedy gold.
  6. To be fair, I don't either, to a certain degree. Far better that our position is asserted via genuine league position, rather than off the pitch over the coming seasons. I just find their 'celebration' rather hollow and a bit pathetic to be honest.
  7. Another 2 wickets to fall in quick succession soon then...
  8. It's all relative. Paying £50,000 for a player IS big money compared to the transfer fees they've paid this season.
  9. There's a post from a 'Trevor Oast'... T.Oast! Like it.
  10. Jesus, the overreaction from their fans on that News link is comedy. It's a court case to determine if, and for how much, the ground can be sold to the PST. Nothing more, nothing less. It hasn't suddenly given you £300m to play with, it hasn't promoted you back to the Premier League, it sure as hell doesn't undo everything else that has gone before. And it certainly doesn't guarantee anything about your future. It could even prove to be a millstone around your neck in the future, especially given the state it is in. It's a bit like a tramp celebrating that he's been allowed to buy a wheelie bin to live in.
  11. Of course Tony, along with much of our recent play - I was simply highlighting it because we were talking about Carroll...
  12. Yeah, 'twas not great - but the point is the same - we are both judging the other teams' players on the very little we've actually seen of them! Have to say, Carroll's turn and volley goal last week was pretty impressive.
  13. Steady recovery to 114-2 at lunch, but will be happier if we get to tea with no more than one more wicket down.
  14. But will that be Sam's *medical* opinion? If not, it doesn't count.
  15. Judging by their match thread on KUMB (in which they actually have a lot of respect for our recent form and results, and aren't at all 'arrogant fans' like so many of us apparently think they are), West Ham fans are fully expecting Lallana to fall over every time the ball goes near him, so we'll call it quits.
  16. Thanks for showing Matthew Le God how to engage in reasonable conversation, and how to challenge my opinion, without making yourself look a bit silly. You're absolutely right, it might still affect him... depends what it is, and clearly Clubcall won't know either - it may not even be a virus, it may be some other illness... I find these things often get reported under a blanket term which can be misleading. Would they risk him? Again my gut says they might - and that Carroll himself would want to play - but we'll see.
  17. It's clearly my personal opinion and a gut feeling, but thanks for trying to micro-analyse it and adding something worthwhile to the thread.
  18. West Ham Clubcall reporting that Carroll has a virus and so is a doubt for the game. Given it's only Weds, I would expect him to recover and play, but would be useful if he was out IMO.
  19. Always worth remembering that Give Me Football, along with some of the other sites, effectively get fans to write some of these articles, so they're naturally going to be quite biased and positive.
  20. Turks, you seem to have performed a 360 in recent months... for a good while you let stuff go and didn't try and get a bite all the time, but now it seems back to your old (preferred?) ways? Anyway... Nick is not a bell-end at all, and whether people think he is or not is of no real relevance to this thread IMO. I disagree with him about the bus travel - I think more people will use it, although obviously we'll only know once it is in place. I believe any effort to reduce the number of cars in and out of the city on matchday has to be a good thing, and the club should engage with council initiatives like this - as a major contributor to traffic congestion, they need to take some responsibility for that and, as mentioned, it was a planning requirement in the first place anyway. Also, should the club have any ambitions to expand the ground, as we think they do, they need to make sure they consider the impact on transport infrastructure, so rejecting things like this won't help their long term cause.
  21. Commentary on today's game for those in the UK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/22067624
  22. Oops, sorry, didn't see this thread - delete mine someone! Here's the BBC season preview, what do we think?
  23. * deleted * Didn't see duplicate thread, sorry!
  24. Well, after my previous problems, it seems the Construction team have not bothered even getting back to Virgin's main customer service team and I need a connection, so I've cancelled completely, and am now signing up with BT just to get a phone line and working broadband in place... they'll do for 12/18 months by which time I'll probably get a fibre connection when Shirley exchange is enabled.
  25. The issue of a free ticket is neither here nor there, the article is about the free travel and while I agree there are many who won't change their travel habits, I do think that more fans would make use of free bus travel, if it were to return.
