I know, i wasn't being literal, but the point still stands. Contracts are contracts but as a human being with a conscience, I couldn't do that. Maybe it's just me.

Putting aside the customary slating of Tommy, it is quite interesting I think, that someone who was on the books at Spurs, and therefore, in theory, did something to be noticed and offered a contract there, should actually supposedly be so bad that his only appearances in FOUR years are a few games at Grimsby. Even the likes of Darryl Flahavan and Scott Bevan have gone on to respectable lower league careers, and our long-term Number 13, Neil Moss, was still plenty good enough to go back to Bournemouth. Frankly, if I was him, I'd be embarrassed by it all. But then I have scruples. He clearly doesn't, whilst taking his money and doing sweet F.A. for it in return.

lol, with you on this one.

Oh the irony. Yours sincerely, 'Mindy' ;-)

That's a matter of opinion I guess. I like their music, I think they put on a fantastic live show, and last night was a good example of this. Ergo, I am pleased. I also have no doubt that you don't give a sh!t, and you'll no doubt be pleased to know that I don't give a sh!t about that. Everyone's happy.

lol... quite. Fair play to him for helping to organise what looks like such a successful event. Don't see anything wrong with giving credit where it is due. As for his other appearances, perhaps Spudgun can tell us where you can get one of these new-fangled tvs with such futuristic features?

Good post. It is a shame that so many (on both sides) see fit to try and bring others down rather than respecting each others positions. Live and let live. Why even the need to start categorising or polarising people on such an occasion. If you enjoy it and want to be a part of it, then do so. If you don't, great. Each to their own. Why is it so hard for some people to understand this concept, be it about the Jubilee, wearing replica shirts, liking a particular band etc, etc?! I spent last night at the Coldplay gig. It was awesome. I then got back to the Hotel and my wife and I spent awhile watching Prince Charles' documentary about his Mum and found it really interesting. I might catch up with the Jubilee proceedings at some point, I might not. I'm not overly fussed about watching it all, but I did find it interesting reading about it in the papers this morning and think it's great that so many people came together to celebrate such an occasion in different ways. It is a shame that it takes such an occasion to make people do this, but it is still good that it happened. Take the good from it.

How many years have you been on SaintsWeb?!? lol That killer combination of impatience, 'ITK'-ism, and the expectation that players and club officials spend 26 hours a day, 8 days a week, solely focused on negotiating transfer fees and personal terms, otherwise they are 'unprofessional', 'lack ambition', 'lack funds', or 'don't have the ability to attract big names' etc, etc. Keeps me amused all summer anyway, why should this one be any different? :-)

He fancied a spot of fishing. I mean, c'mon, it's Turkish, I would've thought that would be obvious. And there are never any shortage of people willing to bite...

That's the wooden spoon, surely?

I know you've had a bad experience cos I think it was mentioned on Facebook, but generalising this way doesn't help. Never mind the fact that in A+E you're more than likely going to see a Registrar who is in their 2nd year of GP training, and who is then going to go on to work in a GP Surgery... I actually had a similar experience to others... I had a football injury, was told (in A+E) that it was just bruised, but 4 weeks later, still in agony, my GP sent me for an x-ray which revealed a break at the top of the Tibia, around the knee joint. Anyway, I agree with some posts - mistakes do get made. Doctors (of all persuasions) make mistakes, or have different opinions on how best to treat or monitor something. We now live in a world where the expectation is that everything will be made perfect again, and that Doctors should know everything and be infallible. News flash - they aren't. They're human.

Kali Mirchi was my favourite in Southampton, but Coriander Lounge is excellent, and Indian Melody is also really good if you want something a bit more traditional.

Agreed with everything else you wrote but personally I can't believe this still bothers people. It is quite obviously a specific, measured tactic to maintain the positive message and not give too much away. Yes, for some it can be frustrating but ultimately it is all about the football on the pitch, and the results and we should all by now know that he acts that way and says those things for a reason, and that they are part of the overall 'positivity' package that he uses to get results.

Blackpool, for every conceivable reason, and a few others.

I'm not in Winchester but can confirm that I won't see him when I am back home there later either...

Might as well have deleted my thread completely, looks a bit silly merged. Oh well. Go on, give a clue... was that aimed at my duplicate post or the video, or something else...?! Anyway, back to the video, quite enjoyed that, short though it was. Video production standards obviously a lot higher for the Premier League website and highlights, than we had on the Football League website. Anything has got to be better than the standard of their 'commentators' on their highlights videos last season.

Sorry, didn't see t'other thread... lock away.

Hopefully he's still at work. Either that, or penning the letter to the employment tribunal.

I know the guy, not particularly well but I saw his old band a few times.

No, I believe he plays cricket over in Guernsey, and that's about as far as his sporting prowess goes.

Sorry, hadn't seen CB Saint's reply before I posted mine but it mirrors a lot of mine...

Right, meeting over. Couple of points to pick up on: 1 - It is not illegal for employers to have a clause in the contract prohibiting you from discussing pay. If such a clause exists, then your employer does have grounds for investigating the allegation (but not jumping straight to a disciplinary), unless you can legitimately claim that you were discussing it for the purpose of ensuring that your employer was complying with the Equality Act 2010. But that would tend to mean you'd be discussing it with someone who has a different protected characteristic to you (i.e opposite sex/different ethnic origin etc) http://www.mcgrigors.com/pdfdocs/insight/27april10.pdf Of course, if such a clause DOESN'T exist, then they have no grounds to do so. Check your contract. 2 - Pay CAN be different between people who do the same job for various perfectly legal reasons. Different contracts, performance related bonus structures, incremental pay etc, etc. I don't know your specific circumstances, and you are perfectly entitled to speak to your line manager if you wish to negotiate on pay, especially if you think you have a case under the Equality Act, but don't fall into the trap of assuming that you must be paid the same as someone else doing the same job. 3 - All that said, let's get to the crux of the matter. Even if your employer DOES have a secrecy clause in your contract about discussing pay (unlikely but even so), they have a duty to fully investigate what happened, (if the company if large enough, this should be carried out by a competent manager who is NOT your line manager), and only once investigated, put any findings to you. Throughout the process, they should keep it all in writing, give you the option of being accompanied to all meetings, and make it clear exactly what the allegations against you are before any conclusion is drawn. Even if THEY don't put things in writing, make sure you DO, and keep copies of all correspondence. Employers have a duty to follow a Disciplinary and Grievance Procedure, or if they don't have one, to follow ACAS' guides as linked by BTF above. To not do so would be a virtually automatic 'unfair dismissal' at a tribunal. Focus only on what you did and said. Your friends' decision to resign without actually discussing the issue with your employer is a bit silly IMO, but is not your concern. Make a note NOW of the facts of what happened, from the first accidental mentioning of the pay, through everything else, and stick to the facts. As annoying and frustrating as it is, try to keep your emotions out of it. Also, you have the right to see any evidence that has led to the allegation of misconduct, including statements from other people, so make sure you ask for these. You should be given sufficient time and information to prepare to answer these allegations. That's probably enough for now but on the very basic face of what you've written above, it sounds like your employer is on a hiding to nothing.
-
Just about to go into a meeting but have a look at the ACAS website first as it has lots of info on it: http://www.acas.org.uk It sounds like your employer is heading straight for an automatic unfair dismissal claim so far... i'll write more after my meeting!
