I actually thought the NI cut was ridiculous but of course I am not privy to the information behind the decision making but appeared that was solely to appease those clamouring for tax cuts that weren’t appropriate at the time. And then even sensible politicians like Hunt labelling NI a double tax. Although I am not as partisan as you may think but it seems obvious that the next few years are going to be tiresome with criticism of the govt whatever they are doing. One improvement is the weekend operations - I know two people who have already benefited, so will be interested if they have made inroads into the waiting lists.

Are you making a distinction between corporation tax and CGT? I don’t have a problem with CGT but I would prefer a tax to target the extremely wealthy. There are always scare stories supported by an ideology of reduce taxes and economy grows faster and everyone is better off - largely bs (see Liz Truss mini budget) but suits the powerful. I have recently been watching the Bill Gates series on Netflix and he said he is constantly amazed why he isn’t taxed more.

The clothes thing was weird as donor could have just donated further to party and they could dip into funds for appearance purposes. couldn’t care less about hospitality stuff - gone on since dawn of time. As to what I think of first days - not impressed. Haven’t taken huge interest in what went wrong with Gray. The WFP was poorly done and too soon. Should have planned mitigation for the needy but I have no issues with it being removed.
