Yes, I agree. I was thinking overnight that his attitude to transfer activity is beginning to resemble Rupert Lowe's. Do it late, do it foreign, and above all.....do it cheap. As mittigating circumstance I offer the fact that we simply dont know how the game plan changed with the death of ML.

Whatever league we will be in, at the end of May NC and NA should pack their bags, leave SMS and each other behind, go away somewhere nice with the wives and kids and get their noses sunburnt. Two or three weeks later they should come back and immediately work night-and-day on securing the additions needed to get us promoted or keep us in the PL. Two-thirds of their targets should be in place for first day of training, rest of them by end of August. No exceptions. FORGET THE JANUARY WINDOW as part of a coherent transfer strategy. Its expensive, labour intensive, and full of wind and p*ss in terms of achieving desired results.

There is always the chance that he has reached his level and can go no further, but its too early to say. I'd rather criticise whoever is steering the latent lazy transfer activity, and question if the backroom staff are doing something wrong to increase the chances of picking up injury and/or increasing the recovery time.

For the "we're still 2nd" brigade, it was "we're still top" las week. What chipper one-liner will we get from you when we are 1tth in a month or so ?

I havent given up, but it is a folorn hope. Hows that different from the soldier analogy ? They went and did their best to survive, knowing the chances were slim, but at least existed.
