This should have been done and negotiations well advanced or complete by Jan 1st. The transfer window does not forbid negotiation before it opens. And I have made that point previously too.

And what you spectaculary fail to recognise, and appear to deliberately ignore in my posts, is that this work doesnt necessarily magically have to start after the hangover has worn off on January 2nd. They could have done the groundwork earlier. As I said the other day, we havent got an injury in the last week or so that would have significantly changed the focus of our transfer activity, so the positions and targets should have been well known, well in advance.
