No, the bigger picture would have been, under Crouch, to let Pearson build his own team and impose his own work-rate and fitness ethic on the squad, whatever would have been left after the fire sale. The results would have been better, and the attendances of a united fan-base would have been higher meaning that the financial situation would have been better. Lowe's pride finally snapped and he has actually wrecked this club a second time round too.
