Never got the near obsession people have with his miss against West Brom. A howler no doubt but Shane Long seems to have made a career as a Premier League striker running around and missing sitters. I also think he gets judged way too harshly for the Arsenal incident. Neither of these are correct. He was trying to have a go at the linesman who had just told the ref. to send him off. The ref stepped between the two and Prutton pushed him away. It was stupid and a 5 game ban would have been fair but 10 is ridiculous. Barton got the same for punching his way through half the Man City squad. Keane only got 5 for deliberately going out to end someone's career. Never the most talented player but you can't fault his effort and passion. I'd say comparisons with Hoj are reasonably fair. Always seemed a good honest bloke too.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

I'd say not wanting to die is a fairly basic animal instinct. I'm not sure I'd agree with the idea that a suicide attack is more noble because you also die yourself. -
I think that Henry/Pires one from a few years ago comes close. The worst part was when they completely stuffed it up the ref let them take it again.

No deal No no deal Surely May has to go now, she literally has nowhere to go.

It’s not about the context though, it purely comes down to who is saying it, which is wrong IMO. -
I’m starting to think all of this is a bit of a kerfuffle.

No, that’s when I was at school some 20 odd years ago. These days kids get given a page of lines, a care worker and an emotional support animal if they stab someone. -

Bit of a difference between old enough to know right from wrong and old enough to decide how to run a country, I'd say. No way was I mature enough to vote when I was 14 but if I had sexually assaulted a girl in my class, or stabbed another boy, I'm pretty sure I'd have been expelled. -
Perhaps that will be a condition of an extension. When they ask to what end she wants an extension, May will have to either resign or call a GE so that there is at least the prospect of someone else's deal being put on the table. Not saying that anyone else will do a better job but it's just a stalemate otherwise.
-
What next then? I reckon they will vote no on no deal, then yes for an extension, which will eventually be granted with a few conditions, followed by a GE.

There are almost always reports of smoke from eye witnesses which usually turn out to be something else. Areas of low pressure around the air frame can lead to water vapour forming, especially in areas of high humidity which I'd guess this might be. This photo sort of illustrates it, with the vapour forming above the wings as the aircraft performs a tight-ish turn. If the aircraft is falling at some unusual attitude then it's not impossible that the something similar but more pronounced would have been seen.
-
Nobody can say until both accidents have been properly investigated but the similarities are concerning enough to take all precautions. The planes are new enough for this not to be a maintenance issue and sensors/instruments aren't the kind of thing which wear out anyway. I'd GUESS at this being some sort of software issue but it's nothing more than a guess.

I know, I was being facetious.

Had to check but we didn't play a home game between 4th Feb and 1st April. There was also no Prem game between 11th Feb and 4th March (with the cup final in the middle somewhere).

Great, another one of our best players sold cheaply. Thanks Les.

Well obviously not but you get the idea. I can't imagine a shop assistant saying, "go to the menswear dept and speak to the n*gger in the red shirt." -

Context yes but there has to be a fair context for everyone. For example I couldn't say, "this is my mate, he's a n*gger," no matter how much I liked him or friendly the tone was. With Spurs, some of their fans refer to themself as the 'Yid Army' but if I were to say, "we're playing the Yids this weekend," some people would find that offensive. That's not really about context, it's purely down to who said it. -

A term is either offensive or it isn't. You can't claim ownership of a word and say it's alright to use it because you are black/gay/Jewish or whatever. Personally, I object to some African-Americans referring to each other by a word which is deemed offensive if used by a white person. All it does is reinforce a sort of us vs. them mentality - A kind of 'that's what they call us, so we use it to show solidarity,' attitude. I'd say the same about Spurs fans referring to themselves as 'Yid Army', whether they find it offensive personally or not. -
If we do that, we will stay up. No points will be needed from the other games, we would stay up on 37.

You have to be joking. Are you actually comparing someone joining ISIS to rape victims? -

They don’t have 30,000 supporters. -

Our fans are like any other group of 30,000 people. I could go to a Miley Cyrus concert or an antique collectors county fair and find a couple of racist kn*bbers, if I was so inclined. -
Not big but correct. We should be trying to recruit the next Mané, Tadič and Pellè, not sticking with 2 dreadful players. Not spending money will see us end up with another Djuricic or Mayuka.
-
Get rid of them. Literally give them away to any club they can agree terms with, even if we have to pay some of their wages for another year. Right now, a mediocre, underwhelming striker would be a big upgrade on the pair of them. I’m not asking for 20 goals a season. 10 would at least be something. Given that we are welded firmly to the top of the net spend League, it might actually be time for one of our owners to put their hand in their pocket. Not getting my hopes up but someone has to do something.
