If I was going to pick and chose a squad that's about our level since we got promoted: McC, Gunn, Kelvin Clyne, Valery Lovren, Vest, Yoshida, Bednarek Bertrand, Targett Hojbjerg, Schneiderlin, Romeu, Lemina Redmond, Lallana, Tadic, Armstrong Lambert, Ings, J Rod I'd say that's 22 decent players who could all do a reasonable job if called up. Enough players to cover every position but not too many that people aren't getting game time. I'm leaving out the Mané and Virgil types who are obviously a class above and belong at a bigger club.

All of that is assuming it was a commercial flight. From what I remember the EASA definition is some bo**ocks about 'in exchange for remuneration or other valuable commodity.' In other words if Sala wasn't paying for this flight and it was just a 'favour' from a friend of a friend of an agent, or whatever, then it wouldn't count. You could legally fly at night, single pilot, single engine. The pilot would only need a PPL with a night rating and to have filed a flight plan. No idea if the FAA have a different take on it.

I'm not sure what either of you were expecting when you clicked on a thread titled, "Cardiff/Sala - Missing Plane". Like the Leicester helicopter, it's relevant enough that many Saints fans would want to discuss it, without sending it to the wasteland that is the lounge.

Depends which Ralph you're on about. If it's Rabbit then I do indeed trust him more than anyone on here but who's to say it's his choice? He may well have been brought in under the proviso, "look we need to offload players in order to buy in summer." If we do go down I sure as heck wont be laughing in May.

I never said they were great, I just said what they are. Ings is the only striker I'd rate above Gabbi and our only RB options are raw to say the least. We need another attacking player at least.

I'm all for selling the 'dead wood' in the squad but so far we've got rid of our second best striker, an experienced midfielder and are looking to offload our only experienced RB. I think we're making a massive gamble on Ralph being the messiah and keeping us up with whatever.

If we aren’t bringing someone else in, then this is just bizarre; less than a million and it clearly weakens the squad.

I'm sure there are some good Dawson-esq mother in law jokes there somewhere. It's a valid point, I think you can add golf to that list too. A decent swing has nothing to do with brute strength and there's no physical reason a woman can't play as well as a man. Interestingly, motorsport has gone the other way and introduced a racing series just for women. They're promoting it as giving women an opportunity to make it into F1 but in reality it's just a bunch of drivers who have already failed in various other series, the winner of which will still be sub-standard.

They were never ever going to be there, although I can understand the Cardiff fans clinging to any hope they can. It would have been some bizarre combination of the Castaway and Road Wars, surviving on a desert island, then hiding from the helicopter in a wheelie bin.

None of those theories are remotely possible. As for the photo taken from Brighton, they look like vapour trails to me. Never in a million years are they distress flares.

I don't think that bit is entirely accurate. For example GE leases aircraft to operators around the world and most of Alitalia's aircraft are registered to an Irish company, despite not actually being based there.

You can fly VFR at night but you’d be nuts doing it over the Channel in January.

I’m happy enough with those 3 plus the returning Yoshi. Nothing special but there is a decent mix of pace, strength, reading the game and whatever it is that Stephens does. We are far weaker up front, it’s basically a case of hoping Ings stays fit or Redmond does something.
