Summer 2018 - Other teams Manager/transfer business
Lighthouse replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
I think that was the season before, the Burley/Gorman/Dodd/Pearson season. Players like Euell and Licka scoring about 4 each, such pointless games. If I am right, we went through all that and lost our opening game 4-1 at home to Palace, when it turned out having no defenders in the squad doesn't mean you win every game 5-4. -
In the league it's basically Mané, Salah plus 1, behind Firmino. Away from home and playing the better teams I can see Klopp going with a less offensive, harder working option like Wijnaldum or Milner. AOC will be ahead of him when fit and I personally would have Lallana too.
-
It's odd because they've already got Firmino, Sturridge, Origi, Mané, Salah, Lallana, AOC, Ings, Wijnaldum, Milner, Solanke and Woodburn, competing for about 4 spaces in their team.
-
Seems a bit odd.

Fit is a relative term with Austin, he normally has steam coming out his arse after an hour. I'd bet that had he started every game from the start of last season, he'd be out injured by October.
-
I don't think any of them have Redmond starting ahead of Moi (although a few people have both) and I can only see Davis mentioned once.
-
Our woes were down to a combination of poor managers and players not performing and I'm not sure I've seen anyone wanting Davis and Redmond to start. Also if striking options of Austin, Gabbi, Long and Gallagher is 'having your hands full of sweets,' I dread to think what the bare bones would look like.
-
Still need another attacking player IMO. Tadic, Carrillo and (probably) Boofing - Out Armstrong and Moi - In Our most creative player replaced by an unknown from the Swiss League. 2 non-entities replaced by a guy with mixed reviews in Scotland. Doesn't really scream improvement to me, in an area we were already weak.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester

I'm not sure loyalty is the word because it's never actually been tested but he is certainly a top bloke and model pro by all accounts from those who know him. -
I disagree, never really been bothered about what Posh, Cheryl, Colleen and co were up to and I've not met anyone else who cares either. WAGs are just... there. Good for a pull out (oooh matron) in Heat magazine but not a distraction.

He's the sort of player I'd be looking at to replace Boufal. Promising young midfielder who can't get into a top 6 side. On another topic, Andy Carroll has supposedly ruptured his ACL, so we're just waiting for Wilshere and Sturridge to complete the holy trinity. -
That's what I'm hoping for but with OR in for PEH and Gabbi for Austin.
-
Abraham scored 5 goals for Swansea last season and wasn't even in the team by the end of it. The other two - dream on. Tajjuk - Just because he wasn't injured, doesn't mean he was fit enough to start. No amount of 'if he had started X games he'd have scored Y goals' will cover up the fact he has never looked fit enough to consistently start games, so it's a moot point.
-
Austin is as bad as Clasie when it come to being dragged off, knackered, after 70 minutes. MoPe clearly preferred bringing him on against tired defenders later in the game, rather than starting him and seeing him chase much fitter defenders around for 70 minutes.
-
He hasn't been consistently fit since he moved here. I agree, if he was fit he'd score goals and if I was a foot taller I'd be a Harlem Globetrotter. The 'Why' does matter, all that matters is how many you score.
-
Conceding 3 in the final, plus 6 against Roma and 5 against Seville along the way. Nice going Dejan.
-
14 league goals in 2.5 years here seems to be 'knowing where the back of the net is' these days, whilst 2-3 goals a season is seen as acceptable by many and 6 goals in the Championship is seen as 'promising'. I don't get how the bar has been dropped quite so low. The likes of Pelle, Lambert, J Rod, Beattie and Pahars could all find 10-15 goals a season and were seen as being about our level. Why is it so hard to find a couple more like that.
-
The only one of those I'd actually choose to have in the squad in Gabbi.
-
Nolan's post clearly said last season. Anyway, Long's days of achieving mediocrity are now in the past.
-
It's been a reasonable campaign by England but will no doubt be looked back on with nostalgia and rose tinted spectacles. We've been comfortably beaten by the first decent side we've played if we're being honest. Still, no shame in what we've achieved, which is something after 2016, 2014, 2010 and 2008.
-
He could have scored 5 times as many as Long and still be mediocre.
-
There was that one guy who started a thread as a wind up but I don’t think anyone actually believed him.
-
I'd take it to mean that a deal for FF is imminent and they are already fairly certain he's off. For a club so tight with money, there's no way we'd risk having both of them and McC on the wage bill. Welcome Angus. Never seen him play but most of the reviews seem positive.
-
He’s never even played a first team game, it’s a bit much to be happy with him starting 6 in a row if Cédric gets injured.
-
Good luck to him I guess. Didn't seem to have any attributes other than getting stuck in. Sort of an unfit Lee Cattermole, without the horrific tackles.
