  1. From what I've heard (not claiming to be an expert, if someone genuinely is I will happily stand corrected) the issue with these clauses is that they are extremely difficult to enforce in practice.
  2. Crikey, hadn't noticed that either! Yeah, definitely not putting too much into this. Shame though, 2nd would be nice!
  3. Nah mate. Not my opinion. You are claiming that journalists have a financial stake in what position a club comes in the league, or whether or not they make the Champions League. That just is not how it works. You are then claiming that journalists are writing articles to make us perform less well, because it is in their own interest. Which just isn't true. Where even are these destabilising articles? Spurs are trying to recruit Mitchell? Heck, maybe they are indeed trying to sign him. That isn't an attempt to destabilise. Even if he doesn't go to Spurs, I'd think it's fairly certain that somebody somewhere will have passed that information onto the journalist. That could be for countless different reasons, but the chances of that being the journalist trying to destabilise the club to benefit themselves financially? Nah, not buying that. Look at any Footy journalist on Twitter. Whatever they say or put out, there will be countless people clotting up their mentions saying how this journalist hates their club, has it in for them and will only be happy when they fail. It's nonsense.
  4. One more goal in their remaining 27 games?! Yeah, much as I'd like to point to this showing us coming second (unashamed, I'd effing love us to come second) I'm struggling to give this much credence.
  5. Well colour me surprised.
  6. Nah sorry mate. This just simply is not true.
  7. It's an amazing sight. Brilliant idea.
  8. Yeah, much as I love him, Rickie needs to pipe down a bit too. I've never understood that feature tbh, it never works in a particularly realistic fashion it always seems to choose strange people that wouldn't be that likely to comment on the club. I don't really think it adds anything much to the game, other than spam really. FM is getting so spammy. Yes MLG, I know you can turn it off, but it takes ages and that doesn't mean the game is not spammy. The UI is still crap.
  9. Nah, I only see paranoia here sorry. Almost every pundit I've seen wants us (and West Ham) to upset the apple cart. Some (who aren't exactly coy about their allegiances, and I don't see why they should be - though it would be good to see more variances in these) will want their clubs to do well, but I get the impression they would want us to do well at their rivals expenses. I've not seen any pundit wanting us to fall away, some have expressed doubts that we may fall away. If they think that, then it's their job to say so, giving an opinion is pretty much the definition of a pundits job. To be honest, I'm surprised just how many people are saying they think we can hang around near the top end or at least giving the question serious deliberation. I'm certainly still not so sure we will get a Top 4 or Top 6 place, though I really do hope I'm wrong. And I spent half the summer being called a deluded clapper.
  10. Thought this since the summer. He'll be gone I reckon. I'll be gutted, he's long been my favourite player and is our best player by some distance IMO. Can't be too mad at him, he wouldn't look out of place in any squad out there I'd say. He's put in a solid shift here.
  11. Snap!
  12. I doubt it would have been a gentleman's agreement. Most likely contractual.
  13. Christ. I thought it was £6-7m, could easily be wrong on that. Either way, it's an absolute steal. I we can push it through, we absolutely should. There cannot be a better value for money CB out there right now.
  14. Pretty frequent up here now that, unfortunately. Got Cure tickets t'other day. Going to take the Mother as her (early) xmas pressie. I'm the best son. Seeing Damon Albarn on Saturday. Should be interesting.
  15. They'll probably still be able to chuck twice what we can at him. I'm a big fan, and hope Toby does indeed stay at Saints. But, I'm realistic about it, if a Utd/City or even Arsenal (crying out for CBs) come a knocking I struggle to see him choosing Saints. Other than Saints fans, who would?
  16. Love the optimism, and for one that called a deluded clapper a lot in the summer- even I think it would be a stretch to finish above both. Part of me thinks even finishing above one of Spurs/Liverpool seems unlikely, maybe I have been conditioned to think this way though. I really, really would love it (Keegan style) if we did finish above them both. It would be amazing. For the most part though, I'm just enjoying all this whilst it lasts
  17. If City/Utd come in for him, why would he choose us? Obviously i want him to stay, but can't see many that would choose us over them, and the extra £££ that would no doubt entail.
  18. I apologise if you think it's unfair Pap. I try to be fair as possible, and have apologised to you and several others before. I tried to qualify my stance. I can hardly deny that those treaties were signed. Of course they were. However, simply saying we signed them therefore we are no longer sovereign doesn't ring true to me. Those treaties were effectively us joining the EU and it's previous incarnations. The assertion that this is equal to us no longer being sovereign doesn't ring true to me as I don't see the evidence of it. I dispute the extent to which passed laws are ceded to the EU. I'm not at all alone on this figure vary wildly depending on who provides them, I've seen figures from 15-84%.
  19. Sorry had to dash off to a couple of meetings. Don't have a great deal of time to reply now. In my opinion, the reach of the treaties is over stated. If one looks at the treaties it is possible to surmise that all sovereignty has been signed away, but in practice this really isn't the case. There is much debate and disagreement over the % of laws that are passed that come from the EU, and even the ones passed in the EU are pretty mundane anyway. How many hideously offend you? It's a poor analogy I know, but it reminds me of the recent hysteria over the Facebook Messenger app. There videos being spread round of some guy (who I'm pretty surprised wasn't wearing a tinfoil hat_ talking about how because the app asked for access to your camera & microphone they were going to watch and record you for advertising purposes. Of course, they might just be able to do this (I highly doubt they'd actually get away with this anyway, even if it was in the t&c's) - but obviously they weren't. This could go back and forth forever. You have a disposition for paranoia/cynicism and snark to anyone that disagrees with you. I dispute the reach to which these treaties effect things, and the numbers are greatly disputed. I'm not going to get into a slanging much with you.
  20. Sadly, it doesn't look promising. http://www.nme.com/news/fleetwood-mac/80927
  21. That's fine. I didn't expect you to agree. I'm sure plenty don't. I don't agree, well certainly not to the degree that you and others put forward that this is the case.
  22. Because again, for the third time this is false equivalence. The situation of an EU citizen coming into the UK is not the same as a Non-EU citizen coming here. Members of EU states pay into the EU kitty, which benefits everyone in the EU. As I said before, the extent to which we properly benefit from this is debatable and is indeed a valid discussion that is absolutely worth having. But, it is also not negligible. There are numerous cities that have benefitted from things such as the Urban Renewal fund (ahem, Liverpool pap) which comes from EU funding. There may well be some areas don't do as well, but the direct comparison to Aussies, Canadians etc is not a fair one.
  23. Because it's the sort of nonsense that litters his (I assume Lord D is a bloke, if not sincere apologies) posts - and are usually taken straight out of the book of Nigelisms that utterly cringeworthy - see Lib Dumbs (LMFAO!!!!) etc. It adds nothing to any argument, it is childish. You know I like you pap, but your way of simply dismissing anyone that disagrees with you isn't a great look, and has frustrated me on many an occasion. I know you get a lot of crap at here on times, and I can understand why you may want to bat people away at times. Some of the stuff is pretty ugly, I try not to get involved (I'm not always successful at this I will admit) - but simply dismissing people as having "no idea what they talking about". Signing away this country's sovereignty is opinion, not fact.
  24. Granted he is. But so was Suarez, and look how close that took Lolerpool last year. Chelsea as a team and squad this year are streets ahead of them last year. It will take a meltdown of biblical proportions for them to cøck up the title from here. Also, massive lol at me, who was unsure about Costa in the summer. Massively wrong on that one KRG, least I said at the time something along the lines of "now I've said this, he's clearly going to bang in 25" which looks pretty possible at the moment.
  25. Things like EUSSR (being used constantly) make it hard to take it seriously. You're clearly not thick, but it's just childish. Anyway, again. This comparison is false equivalence.
