Athletic Bilbao to honour Matt Le Tissier

Yeah, I like to let mine go free and wild in the back garden as nature intended them. They like to soak up the sun. My neighbour sometimes pops his head over the fence which is annoying as they get startled and quickly find cover. I don't know why he doesn't just get a pair of binoculars like everyone else in the neighbourhood and watch from behind net curtains.

Well well well. Cutesy thumb up pics and cuddly bears from CB Fry. Never thought I'd see the day.

Make it happen Bearsy... your status is being disputed here...

Better than Bearsy?

I love fivers! Makes me feel rich like when I'm winning at Monopoly.

Oh Goatboy. Am still definitely up for drinks....though there is a small chance I might bail altogether (game + drinks) as not 100% this week...

One of the most contentious topics, but basically, yes. And at the same time, the public don't really realise the positive impact charities have on their daily lives. It's not just about those 'most needy'. It's actually you and I and everyone else on here, benefitting from the things we fund. Yet we often just give blindly, without really realising it. Which I think is amazing. But it still can't replace Government.

Donkey charities often perform better than most. Seriously. What is it about Donkeys?

I think most charities would be over the moon if the public viewed giving to them as part of their daily routine the same as they would do going to Tesco or Bupa....
-
Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm all for giving more money to charities. I'm just saying they play a very different role to Government and one can't possibly do the role of the other. Which isn't a bad thing. And I can't see how paying less tax and giving more to charity is in anyones interest.

No, not at all. Charities set up projects that can improve the lives of people. Who those people are is dependent on which charity it is. You will all be benefitting from different charities' work in multiple ways (particularly health charities.) If you're a beneficiary of a charity's help, you won't be getting cash/wealth. It's a very different purpose to paying your taxes and government policies intending to make this country a fairer a more equal place to live.

It was boring...and then this happened: http://www.buzzfeed.com/hannahjewell/the-milifandom?utm_term=.cqERWBOzjG#.tgdpk2gz7 #milifandom #milibae

The role of charity is not to redistribute wealth. I'm not sure I can think of a charity that has this as its core purpose.

Maybe it would be safer talking about beer rather than sport?

FFS, don't use the G word!!
-
It might still turn up. If it's anything like the end of CB Fry's joke, it will be well worth the wait!!
-
Behave SOG, we've moved on from that topic...the G or S word is now banned!

The main difference is Lord Duckhunter is a bit of a pr*ck.

Yes, more or less. Although I guess micro brewery just means small scale, but I think when most people use the term in the States they mean ales or stouts. Whereas as over here, the most popular ales are produced by large scale breweries with recipes honed over many years. Micro breweries here seem to be more popular recently, with pubs often experimenting with different variants. My experience of micro breweries in the States has been a less sophisticated beer, I have to say. And sometimes, plain horrible!

Hey Sarnia! In an attempt to talk about something other than guns, how about we discuss the other things 'wrong' with America? Pick any of the following topics, then we can debate mindlessly over the next six months. Your choice! 1. Beer 2. Philly steak sandwiches (or more generally, large portions of too much protein) 3. Tourists with loud voices 4. Car centric cities 5. Sports
