Imagine you re joining a trunk road, where you expect, perhaps, the fastest thing approaching to be doing 80 mph, and some ***t on a bike, whose front profile is less than a 1/4 of a a car's width, is doing nearly twice that. What chance would you have of spotting him ? And car drivers are constantly warned to 'Think Bike'; "Think Berk" more like. ( Apologies to St L, et al, who I presume are ALWAYS sensible in their riding. )

All the houses on our road have names, no numbers at all. If you look at the original 1936 building plans for our house, one of the 8 original houses on the road, the plots were named on the plans, and those are the names allocated to the houses. This hasn't, however, prevented the Post Office arbitrarily assigning numbers ten years ago, which plays havoc with shops' address databases; there is one commercial database in use which only has numbers, despite nobody on our road using them. This results in our house being #16, despite being the 4th house built !

Eye witness said it was a 'long' gun with a big scope. I'm bloody glad I decided against going for a walk up there today.
