  1. Salisu and Lyanco playing OK.
  2. Which is just as well because neither is our first 11.
  3. But the road to the Sunny Uplands was all set fair with the "oven ready deal" and the "easiest trade deal in history".
  4. So now we are officially unhappy with the agreement we negotiated, agreed to, and implemented. One side is sticking to the agreement, yet is being blamed totally for the other side's failure to recognise reality. And apparently it is totally legal to break a legally binding treaty.

It is hardly secret, it has been discussed for weeks. Those countries most dependant on Russian gas have been looking for a way that somehow bridges between the EU sanctions, where they currently cannot fully wean themselves off those supplies, and Putin's demands for payment in Roubles, which they cannot do. It is a fudge, but one that is in the short to medium term necessary. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-05-14/eu-drafts-plan-for-buying-russian-gas-without-breaking-sanctions
  8. Apparently he wanted to kill Sadiq Khan.
  9. Maybe it explains why he falls over so often.
  10. Only it doesn't because the population quickly get so sick of GM's grossly inflated opinion of himself and over bearing idiocy that they create the precedent that the French later copy.

Chamberlain went to meet Hitler knowing that he could not be trusted, but also that Britain was in no fit state to try to stand up to him, so he bought some time and when he returned to the UK immediately ordered a huge increase in defence spending. At the time of Munich the RAF had less than 1 squadron of Spitfires operational. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2013/09/neville-chamberlain-was-right-to-cede-czechoslovakia-to-adolf-hitler-seventy-five-years-ago-the-british-prime-signed-the-munich-pact.html

Jonnyboy will be along soon to explain how Finland and Sweden joining NATO is further evidence of western aggressive expansionism.
  13. Whatever happened to the FA Cup final being the showpiece end of season finale ?
  14. He lives in the 19th century. He has a Babbage engine in a backroom.
  15. "And a separate leaked document indicates that Ms Truss is pushing back against demands from No 10 for deep cuts in the Civil Service, with up to 91,000 positions under threat. The memo states that the Foreign Office does not believe it 'can deliver the headcount reductions of 900 presently proposed' and calls for a 'net increase of 1,000 after using a Voluntary Exit Scheme to replace people whose skills we no longer need'."
  16. The FPTP system favours the Conservatives in England, this is simply a matter of demographics. Without Scotland and Wales Labour will always find it difficult to sway enough votes from a naturally small 'c' conservative electorate. One principal reason is that whilst both major parties are in themselves coalitions, Labour has to contest the left-centre ground with the LibDems, and that splits the vote whereas the right-centre, where a significant proportion of voters sit, is generally uncontested.
  17. The problem is a system that creates too many thick people 😉

Ukraine don't have to "push the Russians out", only damage them so badly that, along with sanctions, they can be persuaded that withdrawal is an option.
  19. When will the BBC realise that many, if not a majority of football fans, don't want Liverpool to win anything, and don't want to hear wall to wall hero worship of Klippety and his band of victims.

In talking to Macron and Scholz,Putin might actually find out how the war is going: Putin - "That is all well and good but we will never return Cherniyiv, it is now Russian" Macron - " You don't have Cherniyiv" Putin - "Oh !", turns aside to an aide "Get Sergei Shoigu here as soon as I put the phone down". He then returns to the call "OK, but Odessa will never be returned, we are having a referendum and it will vote to stay Russian". Macron - "Actually you haven't got beyond Kherson". Putin again turns to his aide " And find the commander of the Baltic Fleet". Putin to Macron - "Well tell Zelensky that if his army won't concede the route through to Transnistra we will bombard the shit out them with our missile cruiser Moskva". Macron - "Well, Vladimir, there may be a slight problem with that.....,"
