I bet Felipe Massa felt completely in control at 300Km/h right up to the point a bit of Reubens Barichello's suspension hit his helmet. I once had a rear suspension arm fail, on a rear wheel drive car, at 20 mph; it pulled the prop shaft out of the gearbox and the car went from 20 to 0 instantly ! If I had been doing 30+ the car would have flipped over. You never know what is about to happen, and at 100+ you will NEVER react in time -- FACT !!!!!

Driving through Tyldesley this morning I was approaching a set of traffic lights which went to green just as I was expecting to slow down for them, so on I went. They must have been on green for about 5 or 6 seconds by the time I reached them, at which point a merc came across my bow from the junction on the left, - must have been a good 10 seconds after his lights went red, and I didn't see him until he entered the 'box'. If I had been 1 second further up the road, 1 mph faster, or hadn't just 'blipped' my brakes as I approached the junction, he would have hit me right in the front passenger side and parked in my wife's seat. The faster you drive, the greater your thinking and stopping distances, and you can never expect to anticipate all the bl00dy stupid things the other drivers might do, ( let alone them not realising exactly how quickly the object in their mirror is closing with them ). It doesn't matter how good you or your car are, speed is dangerous because you are NEVER in complete control of the situation.

Not exactly true, though, is it ? http://driving.drive-alive.co.uk/driving-in-germany.htm "Although the autobahns in Germany are not subject to an overall speed limit (the blue speed limit signs, usually showing 130, are suggested maximum speeds), many stretches of autobahn are covered by signed speed limits, which are mostly closely observed by the Germans." And remember, that 130 is KmPH, so 80 MPH, and even where the limit is only 'advisory', if you exceed it and are involved in an accident, you are always taken as being at least partly to blame. Also, the death rate per million motorway miles is twice as high in Germany as the UK.

Still think this is one of the worst circuits on the calendar; once the first 2 laps are completed you need a dodgy pitstop or a safety car to progress through the field, no other form of overtaking is possible. If I was Webber I would be kicking the mechanic who said the brakes were OK. ( Much LOLage though, if only because he's an Aussie !!! )

Kinetic Energy Recovery System, and basically you are correct. I think it gives up to 70bhp added power for up to 7 seconds per lap, and resets itself each time the car crosses the start/finish line.

Hamster, as Weston has said above, this is almost certainly NOT on either your or your relatives' PCs; it is most likely that somebody that you have at some point sent an e-mail to, either an individual or a website that you posted your address on, has been compromised instead. It is one of the easiest things in the world to 'spoof' the address in an e-mail, and there are websites from which you can buy lists of e-mail addresses, some of them are actually legit and used for marketing, others are garnered from compromised machines and hawked around the black market. A few months ago at work I received 50 e-mails from my own address, and I am the IT Security Manager !!!

We will most certainly NOT have 50+ points, and therefore be safe, by Xmas ( I assume you mean out of the bottom 4, which is a sentiment I just about concur with ).

Twas a typo, put 'pressure' when it should have been 'penetration' . ( In which case see post #66 to which it was a reply )

TBH, I think our first steps of this campaign were in fact backwards, so our current position must count as progress from where we were after Huddersfield.

The second home win of the week will show that we are developing the consistency I was speaking of
-
On balance the result was 'fair', even if the manner by which it was obtained might be judged 'lucky'. We, ( the AWAY team ), had 16 corners to their 8, ( according to the BBC ), so those who say we didn't create pressure must inhabit some sort of parallel universe Two slight concerns; the defence did seem a bit slow to react at times, but that may be due to lack of matches as a unit - so hopefully this will improve quickly. The other is that, even with that many corners, we created few clear chances. Again this might also, in part, be down to a lack of understanding between the players, but it does seem that we are still crossing from too deep.

Draw away, win at home, that will do. Now, if only we can consistently win at home.............. Guess we will find out by 17:00 next Saturday. We need to start getting the margin to 'safety' down from 10 points adrift, so that we can feel that we are actually making progress. Hopefully if we can get into positive points in the table, and within two wins of 20th place, everybody will feel some of the pressure being relieved.
