Watch this again, remember why we are better than Spurs as an overall club, and for the love of gods pull yourselves together. We go again.

Unfortunately this whole saga is a morale blow to the recent positive trend in the saints marketing machine. Others will see this as saints being put in their place and reinforce the hierarchical view that we cannot compete and are inferior despite our results to a team that only just finished above us, until we start winning head to head business transfers like this it will have a knock on effect on the maximum calibre of targets we can attract. Not upset but I was hopeful as keeping Toby would have been a big statement. Am, and Spurs once again, have taught us that ruthlessness is the route to success. We run our club well and I like that we have seeming honour and principles, I'd personally rather we kept that at the cost of greater success. But this is a reflection of my own values, if I was able to be a bastard I'd be a lot wealthier and 'successful' for sure, but I'm not one of those people that could look myself in the mirror afterwards and that is a weakness I acknowledge but am content with.

I doubt that figures into any of the dealing but presumably it wouldnt need to be done as he would have had a thorough set of scans and assessments before joining on loan.

One thing i've not really understood with the whole Toby thing is why AM are so happy to let a versatile champions league quality defender go for what is basically peanuts in the modern game... The AM fans dont seem to give a single **** about it. Now don't get me wrong he was brilliant for us but... so was Lovren and Lyon seemed pretty keen to let him go cheap as well. Im sure that the chances of us simply having the magic touch with CB's is slim but you do have to wonder.

What do you think might be going on? Anyone got any wild theories just for fun as this isn't getting resolved any time soon. Could it be that AM asked Levy to intentionally come in and 'make a bid' to try and force Saints to put more money on the table, but inadvertently ****ed themselves over with the timestamp on the contract. Or maybe they knew about the timing all along and its always been about them not having the money available to do a buyback. I remember hearing that AM and Spurs have quite a good trading history.

Here is hoping that Toby tells them he wont sign yet until he knows the Southampton situation. Then Spurs can pretend he 'failed his medical' today to keep their dignity. This then gives Les and Ralph time to go bust some balls in Spain and get a middle ground of some sort reached. No court case, AM makes some cash, Toby signs for us by Thursday, joins up with the team in Austria and doesn't have to worry about changing his twitter picture, Harry Kane then gets his transfer to a big club and everyone is happy. We get into Champs league after winning the European cup, Tottenham sack Pocchetino shortly before getting relegated at the hands of Bournemouth, and Liverpool buy Toby and Jay Rod off us for 30M each next summer.

He did say with a grin that he had texted Alderweireld recently and then quickly added that this was private chat and then he backtracked to speak again about the public comments made by Alderweireld in the summer. That one conversation reference has made me more confident especially as there was a glint of mischief in Ron's eye.

I'll be massively disappointed in Toby if he goes ahead with Levy plans to rush the deal through within 24 hours of questioning legality of the contract. It shows massive disrespect and lack of integrity after spending time with the club for a season. I have no issue with him going to spuds if that's what he wants but in due course not just in the back of Levy's van at top speed before we argue our point or get to offer him an improved wages contract. Hope Koeman picks up the phone to Toby and tells him we will pay him more than spurs and to get his arse down Staplewood.

Spurs best and apparent tactic is to rush Toby through the medical and get his signature on to paper asap before any injunction or block can be applied.

Wealthy club with dubious business activities and bully tactics beats club who conducts business honourably in a business transaction that involves a breach of contract terms. This is a microcosm of what happens up and down the country and to the greater extent the world in business every day, the whole system is rigged unfairly, unless you are the guys at the very top of the pile looking down. As ever it will end the same way as usual with Spurs stiffing us, they will have the backing of the FA and the greater football body even if we go to court, how dare a team like saints challenge against Spurs for a player. It also seems these establishments job is not to actually adjudicate but rather to make sure that any perceived dodgyness in football is swept under the rug sharpish. We all know the whole thing is corrupt, greedy and broken, thats how they like it and thats how they made it, even with FBI investigations its becoming apparent that there is fark all anyone can do about it. One thing we can be sure of is that a lot of these loan agreements and clauses may be considered worthless bits of paper depending on the outcome of any legal battle.

I'd like to think we've got some lawyers who have had a good look at the contract and nodded their heads, otherwise we'd look pretty ****ing stupid to go public with our intentions.

Poaching Pochettino and Mitchell, it's well documented that the board wasn't happy with how things were done. Our refusal to listen to their offers for any of our players they were interested in and then with them trying to nip in front of us and have Toby away like billy big balls even turning up in person to make whispered offers in the AM ears. I really don't see Les and Levy being best mates anytime soon.

Well theres one definite outcome from this that I am well pleased about, the days of tottenham poaching any of our players are now gone, they've surely blown any negotiating opportunities with us now... if they hadn't already. Also ****ing loving the twist, who needs Game of Thrones, Toby Alderweireld starring in the Red Contract.

Well could be interesting but unfortunately it probably means the Toby deal with spurs is all but done and dusted and Les has got no choice but to go all in on his last hand of cards. It strikes me that Levy's backhanders probably go down quite well in Spain, I figure thats the only reason he would need to go there in person. Problem is that we told Levy to **** off over Schneiderlin and Jay Rod and that no doubt had something to with us not being happy about the way Poch and Mitchell was poached, to Levy winning this transfer is not just about he player but proving he is a big man, he has to win to save face and make a point no matter the cost because that is the sort of guy he has proven to be so far. However now we see how AM will react to our challenge over the contract terms, will they tell us to do one or will they decide life would be much simpler to tell Levy to do one. Hopefully we send them a sweetener of promising to match Tottenham's bid along with the threat so as not to get their backs up too much.
