  1. Did you not read my first line? If you want me to hazard a guess who that might be, then I'm sorry, but I don't do speculation.
  2. Also remind them that we went under because the bank pulled the plug for the sake of a few thousand pounds, whereas the Skates owe £130 million and rising every day.
  3. Which cards were these, DD? The Tarot cards? PS. You fell into the same trap as BTF re the assumption that people voted against Clegg, when the reality is that only 24% voted for him.
  4. I see I will have to repeat the admonishment I gave to some other poster for spouting this claptrap. The electorate did not vote against a party leader unless they voted tactically. You cannot just add up the percentages of the votes of all the other parties and conclude that all of that percentage was a vote against Cameron. You have absolutely no idea what percentage voted primarily for or against a particular candidate in their constituency, or how many voted for a party regardless who leads it. So whereas your assertion is flawed, what is clear and irrefutable is that the Conservative Party recorded a higher number of votes than any other party, although I am guessing that simple truth will be unpalateable to you.
  5. The player who will be the whipping boy, will be the one who does not appear to give maximum effort for the cause. A player might lack a little in the quality department, but can make up for that in the fans' eyes if he is fully committed. A top quality player who does not appear to give his all, is criticised by the fans. Look at Rasiak, John, etc for examples of players of quality, then compare them with Chris Marsden or Ormerod, who lacked a little in quality, but made it up in commitment. Thankfully, in the current squad, I can't readily think of too many players who do not give 100%. Pardew seems to have got that right as a benchmark for inclusion in his teams.
  6. Except out wide, where we need to sign either Antonio or Papa, or a replacement for them, a pacy tricky winger.
  7. When asked by a jounalist what might cause a Government to be blown of course, Harold Macmillan responded, "Events, dear boy, events" Well, there is no harm done by these Lib/Dems in their Party expressing their views that they are not happy with the pact with the Conservatives. To balance that out, there are equally as many in the Conservative party who were unhappy with it, as were most of the Labour Party, who would have dearly loved to get shot of Brown and cosy up in bed with the Lib/Dems themselves if it meant that they could stay in power. But all of the dissenters are faced with a fait accompli brought about by expediency. The Conservatives entered the pact because they have an excuse for it not working because of the Lib/Dems, but also are possibly content that they can be excused for not putting through the more controversial policies in their manifesto. The Lib/Dems entered the pact because they acquired a disproportionate amount of power for their votes and it is their first sniff of government in several generations. If the Lib/Dems overturned this pact because their Party constitution allowed if to be revoked by a simple majority of grass root votes, or MPs votes against it, then the voting public would punish them at the next election. In short, they are over a barrel with the current arrangement but to compensate, the top people in the party must be quite happy to be given this massive boost to their own importance in British politics.
  8. Direct hit, Alpine! Quote Sadoldgit But SOG is probably a bit upset that Cortese has said something concrete, as it makes his groundless assertions as to what the situation is look stupid. But even after Cortese's statement, he still feels able to paint some scenario that will put a smile on his face in anticipation that nasty things might come about to the detriment of the club. Quote Sadoldgit:
  9. But I won't hold my breath. You just can't help it, as you've done it again.
  10. The guy who wrote that is a creative genius. It has it all; it scans well, is varied and imaginative. I salute him. It is probably one of the cleverest and wittiest indictment of a player that I can remember. It is also a huge nail in his coffin, as I can see some parts of the chant being taken up by the fans, making his stay untenable. It is on a par with that song about the Skates that we produced before we got relegated. The one that was played often on Saints Radio. Anybody got a link to it?
  11. Yes, but they missed a shot at an open goal and a penalty. For all of Chelski's misses, it was still a possibility, albeit an extremely unlikely one, that they could have won that match 2-1. But in that article on goal.com, the Skates Tawdry Toad continues ad nauseum his misguided rant that the FA should be allowing the cheating fish-fiddlers a place in Europe next year. What's it to you, Avram? You won't be there in a few weeks and neither will most of the players in that match. With even more luck, if there was any justice, neither will Portsmouth FC exist too. And for all of those Skates who echo the Toad's sentiments that it is somehow a miracle that their ragbag squad of loanees and cheap transfers got to the FA Cup final, firstly they were mostly players brought in illegally when the Club was trading insolvently and secondly, they are obviously players of some calibre if the club reckons that they are worth £35 million. You can't have it both ways. I wonder whether Saints have EVER had a squad worth £35 million and yet we managed 27 years in the top flight and an FA Cup final without any real debt that we couldn't service.
  12. When Chelski hit the post five times, missed an open goal and a penalty, I thought that today might be the Skates' chance once again to upset the form books and win against all the odds. But it's almost more pleasurable that they only lost by the one goal. So near and yet so far, eh? And now that they've saved the blushes of embarassment that the English football authorities would have suffered had the cheats prospered, they can now pull the plug on them and flush them down the toilet.
  13. Yes, I agree with all of that and would add Murty, who showed some really tantalising glimpses of what might have been and he could perhaps have made the difference on getting into the play-offs had it not been for his injury. I also agree with the comment made elsewhere, that this is a very serious statement of intent. There are young players on that list who were seen by previous managers as being good enough to feature in the team, but letting them go signals that we will be bringing in players of superior quality. When you look at the players we have brought in, those from the second and third division were deemed often by their fans to be their best players. I suspect we'll see some more of that type coming in.
  14. Have a look here and read the list of controversies connected to them and you will see that Lloyds and the Skates deserve each other. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lloyds_TSB But if I were a customer of theirs, I would certainly go and see the manager and insist that they took those posters down, or else I would be contacting the Head Office to complain, especially as there must be several of the club's creditors who bank with them who would be offended by it.
  15. I think that I was trying to convey my surprise, rather than being particularly bothered or concerned. Seems I failed. Name three teams who play in blue.
  16. No. It happened. Don't you think that it is surprising that he didn't mention the team he has played for all his career first?
  17. I watched part of that programme. Le Tiss was asked a quick-fire question; name three teams who play in red and white stripes. He answered Sunderland, Saints and Exeter. Now, what I fail to understand, is why Sunderland sprang into his mind before Saints. Saints would have been my first answer and I'm just a fan. But when he had actually been a Saints player all of his career from a kid, frankly, I'm surprised. Mentioning Exeter before say Stoke might be excusable, especially if he had played a charity match there recently, but Sunderland first?
  18. And everybody also remembers when Southampton beat Manchester United in 1976 too, Avram, when the second division Southern club stunned FA Cup giants Manchester United. As we're the more local club to your shower and our upset was 3 years more recent than theirs, one would have expected you to have used us as an example.
  19. Clarkson doesn't suffer fools gladly, so he riles a lot of them. I can see how riled you are at him.
  20. Happy days indeed. I look forward to next season with relish. This season was excellent. More of the same, please
  21. Heres the fella... http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/8115354.Election_postponed_as_candidate_dies/
  22. Nope, sorry, it can't have been that seat, as they returned a Labour MP, so they must have chosen a candidate pretty quickly...

  24. As to the original thrust of the thread, nobody knows whether Cameron is gutted or not apart from him. In retrospect, there are many reasons why he might be happy with the current position in preference to having a small absolute majority. But he can console himself that he is Prime Minister, that his party gained the largest number of seats and that Labour are consigned to the political wilderness for the moment.
  25. Yes. The boredom nerve.
