There were quite a few Bees at St Mary's on Saturday and if you're going to talk about swotting them, you need to post on the other thread, "after the match" Nothing for them to eat? Southampton has a reasonable selection of restaurants and surely their part of the concourse also sells pies too.

Only Nineteen could troll with such excellence, picking on a thread about football violence and writing a thesis on the the social demographics of Golf and simultaneously introducing viewpoints on planning and World agricultural suffiency. I think that he missed a trick though by not mentioning how the manicured landscape of the golf course has lessened the variety of flora and fauna that would have been found in the more natural landscape. :smt019

What a load of pseudo generalistic claptrap. You use an example like Mandelson to assert that Labour has been infiltrated by career politicians. Well, all of those in Parliament are hoping to be career politicians once they are there, aren't they? It is a very tiny majority in any of the parties who set out as career politicians from the time they left full time education, although Labour used to recruit a few of their MPs from Trade Union backgrounds and nowadays a few who were Councillors or lecturers in Politics if you would call that the same thing. As for the naivety of believing that any of the parties panders to individualism, whatever you think that means, nearly all of the electorate vote for a party that they believe best represents their interests, rather than the interests of others. Let's see how bright you are by putting the boot on the other foot. Name me a Conservative policy that panders solely towards individualism.

Don't worry, Thedelldays; we'll do better now that we've got two of the giants of the division, Swindon and Brentford out of the way.

The standard of debate on here goes way down during school and college holidays...

Southern Spain is full of criminals fleeing British justice. Did you enjoy the sweeping generalisation?
-
Are you some sort of Communist? The golf courses you are talking about are privately owned, on privately owned land. Any that are under local authority control run contrary to your argument about elitism and most don't discriminate about dress code and anybody can play there on payment of a green fee. Either you're being a bit thick here, or you're trolling for a reaction again.

Those are very stylish slippers. Or are they ballet shoes? Do they do a version with steel toe caps, for the real bovver boys?

Did you pluck a figure from out of the air and double it? Or do these young scum fans you talk about have a dozen children they are claiming for? If you can't justify your figure, then perhaps you could easily do some research into what the rates are. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/money/reader_guides/article5572594.ece As the figure you have quoted is actually greater than the average earnings figure in this country, there would be no incentive for many to work at all and the ones working couldn't pay enough in taxes to support those out of work or claiming other types of benefits.

Why did the ball boys have the balls taken from them?
Wes Tender replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Reading used to use their ballboys to good advantage, taking quick throw-ins to their players and taking their time when returning the ball to the opposition. Obviously, their own players were well drilled to the tactic, but visiting teams were often caught off balance by it. Was Pardew there at that time, or was it a Coppell initiative? Everything that could give us an edge is worthy of consideration and we ought to get those ballboys some extra training. -
Ah, so it's the fans fault. It's not the fault of the players, or the managers, as Derry suggests, who do not play with any width, or who use players out of position. It isn't that most of the other teams we play up their game or have better players who exploit our weaknesses. It isn't that we have had very poor (in both senses) owners who have not invested properly in the team or its management, causing massive instability because of their inept man-management and their giant egos causing disunity. It's all the fault of the fans.

Pardew's post match interview on Solent
Wes Tender replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
I've reported that remark to the moderators. If the only way that you feel that you can score points against someone is to resort to personal insults. then I really do pity you. For your information, you don't know anything about me and it's not true anyway. -
The point that you've missed by a country mile, was loyalty. If you're going to attempt to tarnish the guy's reputation by denigrating the fact that in your opinion he was naive not to want to be greedy, because he was happy down here on less money, then you serve to achieve just the opposite.

Pardew's post match interview on Solent
Wes Tender replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
So much so that he was posting at gone 2am the other day. And then he advises some others to get out more and maybe consider going on Match.com. -
Brilliant! I've not heard that one before. I like the writing style, whether it accurately paraphrases MLT or not, it is very readable stuff.

I seem to recall Hassan Kachloul being insulted by Lowe, by being informed that what he would be paid by us was a fortune compared with what he would earn in Morocco. Many of the footballers here would have quite envied being paid what Lowe got at the club.

Pardew's post match interview on Solent
Wes Tender replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
Nineteen, you made some very good points in your thread, most of which I agreed with and I said so. But you insisted that we had not had a manager for a very long time who could convey his thoughts as cogently as Pardew. I disagreed with that one point and suggested that Pearson was Pardew's equal in that respect. You claimed that Pearson probably couldn't have spoken for that long without repeating himself several times and saying "as I said", as you take that as a sure sign that a manager has nothing further to say. A bit unfortunate wasn't it that Pardew said "as I said" twice in the interview? It didn't take me hours of research to find that, as Weston kindly posted the link to the interview and it only took a couple of minutes to listen to it. Ditto, the Pearson interview only took a couple of minutes to find too. But according to you, I need to take every part of your thread post in the spirit it is intended, without any dissent at all, even if I disagree with one part of it? I doubt that I am alone in thinking that Pearson was excellent in his ability to communiciate his thoughts clearly and concisely. Why, even a very successful businessman like Mandaric said that he had interviewed many serious contenders for the management job at Leicester and had been impressed immediately with Pearson's interview . But you don't like Pearson, so you, Nineteen? Therefore you are not big enough as a man to give him any credit at all, especially if it goes against the thrust of your thread. Regarding your other points, I have great respect for Um Pahars' opinions which are usually well researched and to the point. If he is a fan of my posts, I take it as a great compliment. Needless to say, I don't much care whether you appreciate my input or not. No, I will not be complaining about the entertainment any time soon, or thinking of boycotting. As a show of faith in the new people, I had renewed my ST and will therefore be attending every home game come hell or high water. The fact that I am prepared to continue supporting the team down to the third division should tell you something. The boycott was to rid the club of Lowe and the other charlatans and it obtained the desired result eventually. -
Your squad could use it as a changing room....Perhaps Fahim will buy it for you.

Whereas I agree with your comments about the arrogance of small-minded Brits expecting everybody else to speak English abroad, Southampton is not quite the agricultural environment you paint. In fact, industrially and commercially, it is ahead of Portsmouth; it is just that as every inch of the former island is covered with terraced housing, there is little room for the odd chicken run or pig in your back gardens in Portsmouth. Anyway, why would you be buying Horse and Pony? You're not part of the County set, are you? Caravanning Weekly, more like it.

Laughs at a fan from such a crap club as Brentford never having seen a worse player. Stretching belief somewhat. Was this the only game he's ever been to? He's obviously never seen Wotton play.

I thought that he made a goodish debut. I was generally impressed with his positioning for set pieces, his aerial domination and how quickly he seemed to fit in alongside Perry. They looked solid together.

Pardew's post match interview on Solent
Wes Tender replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
Interview here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...on/8216405.stm Thanks for posting that, Weston. I had another listen. To my horror, Pardew twice said "as I say"! In the interview I posted from Pearson, he didn't say it once. -

Sotonjoe starts argument. Quelle surprise. Do you see what I did there? -

No, I expressed an opinion. This is an internet forum, the vehicle for such debate, or am I mistaken? Perhaps instead of just making snide comments, you might like to enter into the spirit of things and express your own opinion as to whether Pearson was as capable of erudite self-expression or not. -
It's not that guy from London who lived at home with his mother, is it? His family came from the middle East, Israel - wasn't it?
