But if a majority verdict is allowed, he will be found to be innocent. The wrong man has been stitched up Guv'nor, it was Wotton what done it.

Oh dear. Poor old Pompey. Williamson's transfer request to leave Watford and join the Skates has been turned down by Watford.

I have not made any of the same sort of insults towards you since and will not do so. However, I reserve the right to reply to anything you write as opinion if I disagree with it. Asking others whether they are acquainted well enough with your opinions on MLT, Crouch, Lawrie Mac and whether they need to hear more of the same from you is acceptable banter, isn't it? Several others have commented that you are becoming like a stuck record on those topics and some have gone further than that. I have not. I have always said that when somebody has to resort to petty insults, they have in all probability lost the argument. I generally keep things civil whenever I can for that very reason.

There are several notable examples of players who did not realise their potentail until much later in their careers. Ian Wright and Kevin Phillips immediately spring to mind.

Well, the fake sheik has admitted that money won't really be available before the next transfer window in January. By that time, playing with what they've got left now, plus the dross they've signed, they'll be well on the way to relegation by January. The morale must be leeching out of the squad already with no points from 9 and will reduce further with any other departures. If they're bottom by January, who will fancy coming in when they are good candidates to be playing Fizzy Pop next season?

Breaking news - Silvain Distin off to Everton, terms agreed pending a medical. Another quality player out of the door, more dross heading to Krap Nottarf in exchange.

Schneiderlin wants to Leave / Rasiak
Wes Tender replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Fair point, but with a counter argument. Both Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale showed far more ability and potential for us at a younger age than him, as did several other youngsters at other clubs, like Rooney, Owen, Gerrard, etc., All of those players showed greater ability also at a higher level than we are now, so arguably the better quality and ability a player has, the more outstanding it ought to be when contrasted with the dross that plays in this division by comparison. But if Schneiderlin does leave and progresses to be a really good player in the Premiership in 5 years time, we will be able to buy him back if we think he is value, something that we have never ever been able to do before, because once a player had left, we usually could not afford to get him back in if he was successful elsewhere. -
Schneiderlin wants to Leave / Rasiak
Wes Tender replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Schneiderlin has always flattered to deceive. Since he's been here, there have not been many matches when I thought to myself that he was better than many other players we have had recently. And if he doesn't want to be here, we ought to let him go, as we don't need sulky players here now. Provided we get back what we paid for him, that seems fair enough to me. -
Why don't they call it the first division, the second division, third, etc? That would be too simple and wouldn't sound as good from a marketing point of view.

Don't be silly, Whitey; that was me and those others who boycotted. -
Let's put it to the test, shall we? All those who do not know what Nineteen's thoughts are on MLT, Crouch, Pearson and McMenemy and would like to hear them, please say "Aye" Can I take it that if there are not many "Ayes" you will kindly desist in beating the same drum ad nauseum? Well, as I see no "ayes", I take it that everybody on here knows Nineteen's views on those people and there is therefore no point in him continuing to repeat them over and over again.
-
Yes, I saw your apology for doing that yourself.

I was musing about how good it would be to be able to buy a shirt like that to wear in Skateland. On the back, you could print the names of all the players who have left recently, crossing all of them through. At the bottom of the shirt under those names, you could print "Sod it. I'm off to watch the Scum instead"

Well, I was at the game too and my opinion is that Gillett added some bite and endeavour. Had Murty been on the field, I don't think that Brum would have got either goal, as the defence just fell to pieces after he had to be taken off; all their discipline which had been excellent before, disappeared. Thomas was the weak link. Gillett didn't do a lot wrong when he came on and I think that given the chance he could develop into a pretty good player, especially at the level where we are now. We have been complaining at the lack of effort and commitment in some of these early games (not against Brum) and I'm confident that Gillett would have made a difference. Wotton was better on Tuesday, but that isn't saying much at all, as he was absolutely dire in other games. I'd have Gillet over him every game. Now we have Hammond, Gillett will make a decent back-up to him.

Do you not feel even a little remorse that after the fanfare you gave to your fake sheik when it seemed a few months ago that you were to be nearly as rich as Manchester City, that events have proven that Fahim doesn't have anywhere the amount of money that you will be needing to keep afloat, let alone build? Why, even yesterday your forums were listening to rumours that the Storrie consortium was talking with a billionaire Arab Prince. Bit of an anti-climax IMO that it turns out that the relatively poor, but mouthy self-publicist Fahim triumphs at long last. I hope that you do not find out that Storrie did in fact have somebody far wealthier up his sleeve (although unlikely) Otherwise you lot will know how we felt when we got Lowe with the reverse takeover when rumours foretold of 2-3 other consortia with genuine wealth who never got to bid because our old board somehow felt it unecessary to have a look. One has to wonder how if Fahim was wealthy enough, why he didn't take over three or four months ago, instead of waiting for all of the decent players to leave. The answer is simple. He couldn't afford to take over the level of debt that existed then and the players had to be sold to reduce the club's price down to a level that he could afford. But there is still debt, players will have to be replaced at a quality good enough to keep you in the Premiership, attendance figures are not enough to cover operational costs and there is no way that the stadium development can take place. You're still for a very bumpy ride; plenty still to keep us laughing.
-
According to one of the Skate forums, the statement on their OS that Fahim had taken over the club as sole owner, has now disappeared. As it was stated yesterday that Storrie teller was very close to getting his consortium to take over the club, there is some confusion among the blue few as to what precisely the situation is. There were rumours elsewhere on the Skate forums that Storrie had resigned. Rumours that they were going to undergo a reverse takeover by an ex-retirement home owner are unfortunately without foundation. Edit: Checked for myself and the announcement has not been removed. That Skate bloke doesn't know what he's on about. I know more than him,

LOL. Sarcasm raised to an art form. Well done, Nick

Eastleigh last election (2005) recorded some 50,000 votes, whereas Sheffield Brightside recorded 24629. In the 1992 election, there were 42,224 of the electorate who voted in Sheffield Brightside, so it took 20,000 less votes to return a Labour MP than it did 13 years earlier. The most extreme example you will have seen from that article was between the Isle of Wight 110,000 electorate and Na h-Eileanan an Iar, with an electorate of just 22,200, so that it takes up to 5 times more electors to gain Parliamentary representation in one constituency than the other.
-
According to breaking news reported in several media outlets, the Pompey takeover has been completed by Fahims' organisation that he is the sole owner of. As Storrie teller was harping on about other Arab money and there was speculation about Arabian Princes who were billionaires, finding out that it is the fake sheik must be a bit of an anti-climax to say the least. He is nowhere wealthy enough to take them over and pay for a new stadium and decent players, especially with their other debts.

Ah, yes, but Scoobie was listed as his friend. Boot Boy was also one of his epithets for Pearson and 19 borrowed that too. I should have insinuated some parable about the Klingons into my PM too. I'm slipping.

Copy of PM sent to Nineteen Canteen, which has come into my hands. My dear Nineteen, It is incumbent on me to express my heartfelt gratitude for the stirling work that you have done on my behalf, both before and after those sad events that ultimately led to my departure. I also thank you for your kind opinions that the club didn't deserve somebody of my obvious talents and the supporters will live to regret the part that they played in my departure through their blind ignorance and stupidity. I was grateful to you, penning that anonymous letter that I was able to read out at the AGM, although with hindsight it might have been better to have put a name to it, as everybody thought somehow that I had written it myself. What bizarre reasoning processes some of these people must have! Surely they could not think that somebody with my humility, modesty and integrity could be capable of such subterfuge. Anyway, as you were so kind as to pen that letter, I was indebted to you, so when I received your request to provide me with some PMs expressing agreement with your criticism of that insect Crouch, that freeloading has-been McEnemy and that lazy sod Le Tissier, I thought it was the least I could do for you, old boy. I have also copied this to Guy, Mike, David, etc, instructing them that I want to see copies of their PMs before forwarding to you. Now that I have a lot less to do with my life, I spend many happy hours reading your work, antagonising those Neanderhals on the fans' websites. Keep up the good work. My best regards also to your family Rupert.

But where is the balance? I see none at all. I am here to express my opinion that after you have spouted forth on the subjects of Crouch, Pearson, MLT, Lawrie McMenemy on more than a few occasions, I am willing to wager that every regular contributor to this site is perfectly attuned to your thoughts on those people. Let's put it to the test, shall we? All those who do not know what Nineteen's thoughts are on MLT, Crouch, Pearson and McMenemy are and would like to hear them, please say "Aye" Can I take it that if there are not many "Ayes" you will kindly desist in beating the same drum ad nauseum? If there is just a handful of Ayes, you can PM your thoughts to them, so that you do not have to bore the rest of us already in the know.

Pardew's post match interview on Solent
Wes Tender replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
Surely long overdue for closure, this thread, unless it is to be kept open in perpetuity so long as Alan Pardew is manager, so that comments can be added after every match. Opinions on what AP said after the match have surely all been expressed and now all we have is people responding to the antagonism of the site's chief wind-up merchant. -
Your analogy about the top class athlete refusing to travel to a distant Olympics bears little weight. MLT was playing in the top league in World football at the time and was capable of putting goals past some of the best defenders and goalkeepers in the World, many of whom were well-known Internationals at the time. No, you have never challenged the status of Ted Bates, nor have you expressed any opinion of any of the other managers who preceded him either. So what? But where is the answer to the prefectly reasonable question I asked? Why do you spend so much time slagging off those held in the highest esteem by the majority of Saints fans, but never balance it by criticism of the one person who has done more damage to the club than anybody else in its history, one Rupert Lowe?
