Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 6-1 Aston Villa
USA SaintsFan replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
This game proves yet again possession stats are meaningless, Villa dominated possession yet we ran out 6-1 winners. Have to say we've been due a result for a while, just a little disappointing it can't have happened a little earlier so we could've pushed on for 5th place. Great game, amazing team effort. Attacking was very direct and dangerous, I said before game that if our attackers ran at them we would do well. Mane is a quality player. Very happy for Long he's deserved that with the effort he puts in every game. Hopefully Swansea won't beat City and with a little luck Everton could beat Spurs next week and we could tie City and secure 6th place. Amazing season and can't wait for next year! -
Just as palace were starting to grow into the game...
-
So Barca and Juventus in the final it is then.
-
No, without him and Morgan and with Gazza in goal I'd bet on us conceding at least 3.
-
Stoke 3-0 Spurs. Spurs also down to 10 men. Spurs are practically handing us 6th place wrapped up beautifully as a late Christmas present and we're managing to **** it up so badly. Any other part of the season and we'd be 5 points clear.

what happened?
-
Typical day in the Premier League it is then.

Messi is just amazing. Just makes you wonder what a player of his quality (somehow) playing in our squad. Title contenders at least I say.
-
Juventus winning already at home to Real Madrid. Great game so far...

JWP Sending off - are Saints going to appeal this ?
USA SaintsFan replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
From what I saw on the relay: Defoe took a bad touch to JWP's right. JWP followed the ball and shielded it from Defoe, who collided with JWP and went down. Probably not a penalty. Very harsh even a yellow. NEVER a red. -
Pelle's game is all about confidence. He consistently gets at least 1 great chance a game. When his confidence is high (beginning of season and now,) he scores at outstanding rates, however, when he is low on confidence (much of the middle of the season,) he produces howler after howler. If we can get him playing confidently consistently game after game next season that would one huge step towards being a top 4 team.

Super Kelv- Imo very good excluding error for Stoke's first goal. 6/10 Forster- Huge physical presence in goal and has had some outstanding games. A little error prone and needs work on coming off his line. 7.5/10 Clyne- Great season although his form has dipped considerably the last month. 7.5/10 Fonte- Consistently puts in great performances. Great player and captain. 8/10 Alderwerield- Great technically skilled player useful in many positions. Quite injury prone however. 7.5/10 Bertrand- Hardly puts in a bad performance, solid defensively and a major attacking threat. 8/10 Targett- Looked decent in his couple runouts, albeit a few errors defensively. 6/10 Gardos- I thought he has been solid in his few games, although his decision making seems a bit rash. Not really a player we needed for his price tag. 6/10 Yoshida- Like Fonte, puts in great performances consistently. Most improved player of the season and amazing backup center back. 7.5/10 Wanyama- Solid defensively, like an extra center back defensively. Very hard to beat and much better going forward this year. 8/10 Schnedierlin- Very skilled defensively and offensively. Best defensive midfielder in the league imo, bar maybe Matic. 8.5/10 Harry Reed- Big fan of him in his few games. Very determined player who leaves everything on the pitch. Potential heir to Schnedeirlin's throne imo. 7/10 JWP- Very determined, great attitude. Very good signs as a young player, with development can become a top player. 7/10 Steven Davis- Great at some things, not so much at other. Good at moving the ball up the field, needs to work on to work on decisiveness in midfield and final third and shooting. 6.5/10 Tadic- Very creative player with a great sense of visual awareness. Amazing performances early in the season decreased considerably, but still has the ability to provide the spark in our attack, as demonstrated at home to Hull in the second half. 7/10 Mane- Looked questionable early on but been our best attacking threat 2nd half of the season. Great at dribbling, causing problems in the defense, and has great finishing touch. 8.5/10 Pelle- On or off most games. At his best a huge goalscoring threat and crucial in build up play, on an off day frustrating to say the least. 7/10 Long- Hardest working player in the team, causes tremendous problems for apposing teams, but needs a lot of work in his technical skills. 6.5/10 Elia- Looked promising early on but hasn't contributed much since. Still very capable of beating players though. 6/10 Dujicic- Looks reasonably skilled but barely had any playing time. Too early to judge.

Post-Match Reaction: Stoke City 2-1 SAINTS
USA SaintsFan replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I really do hate Charlie Adam. Just watched a video of him deliberately attempting to elbow Schurrle earlier this season and seem to recall that's not the first time he's tried to do something like that. When he came on in the 2nd half I remember thinking 'he's gonna do one of those nasty elbows again' and what do you know he tries to punch/slap/elbow Toby in the face. And then he scores the winning goal -
Top 4 chance now gone? Europa Thoughts?

Yes but it was still affecting the play, therefore the linesmen should've flagged him off. -

Mane denied a clear goal scoring chance by botched offside call. Stoke player then was a yard offside on the cross directly leading to the second and not called. I hate clattenburg. -
I disagree. When Tadic came on in the 2nd half our attacked looked significantly better, a lot more creative. I think he is nailed on to start.

4-1

We lose one game we shouldn't have and now it's all sh*t.
-
Our first couple moves up the field were basicly our best of the whole game. Sums it up really.

I met Guly today before a San Jose Earthquakes game against Chicago. Walked right over to me when he saw my Saints kit. Seemed like a very nice guy.

Dalek "2003", as in you are 12 years old. Well that explains things...

West Brom in the form they're in and at home may give it a go and not park the bus. Even if they do park the bus, seeing the last 4 games and how teams have set up against up and had success, I'm sure koeman will tweak the system to brake down teams that sit back and hit us on the break.

****ing nbcsn analysts claiming Mignolet was inside the box.
