Our attack has improved alot ? Jrod after a major injury is an unknown . The young spaniard is hardly prolific and surely one for the future rather than this upcoming season . We are going to lose Morgan who was decent in attack and setting up play . This leaves Tadic as our only outlet to create anything yet his form is ordinary at best . Our defense is in tatters atm especially signing Cuco as cover . I don't mind players moving on but would at least hope to improve the team , especially with Europe coming up . So far there is little to get excited about . Still its early days in the transfer window , hopefully the board has a strategy that improves us overall . Means spending a decent amount on a CB and midfielder.

You keep saying this over and over yet you completely ignore that the 3 teams directly above us had very poor seasons and are unlikely to do so again . Unless your point is that at our very best we were only a couple of points below an under performing Liverpool having a terrible season ?

The question itself is legitimate but is unfortunately written from an emotional point of view . Can Saints ever realistically push on or is this the best we can ever hope for . Thats the question Alpine is asking . My opinion is that we have peaked and will struggle to maintain this unless we receive massive investment into the stadium and our commercial income . We can't compete with the top teams in terms of wages and I doubt we even want to . Our strategy of buying cheap or developing academy players is never one that will push us into the top 4 . We may flirt with it but last season was a fluke .

How many 34 year old elite midfielders are playing the premier League ? Cabaye would have to very cheap as there is no resale value and at his age one injury could end it . We would be back where we started . I just can't see it .

I'm realistic about what a team in our position is capable of . We are limited due to the size of St Marys and the FFP rules . If a player chooses to move on due to financial or glory reasons then I accept that . Loyalty doesn't exist in football . Yes I'm critical of the manager at times and certain players . Name calling again ? If Morgan moves to Spurs then so be it . They can afford to pay more than us and have the potential to improve more than us based upon that financial clout . Their chances of reaching Champs League are better than ours . The hysterical wailing and gnashing of teeth on here is tiresome and childish . Yes Morgan has said he wants Champs league but any contract would be approx 3 to 4 years . Spurs have that potential and most likely a manager who wants to stay for many years . I maybe harsh with my view on our players but we claim to be pushing for further up the table . Tadic , for all his skill is hopeless in front of goal . Only luck has allowed him to score . In fact plenty of our goals this past season were due to luck . Considering our lack of creativity and relatively few goal chances its frustrating when so few get put away . If Austin isn't the answer then fair enough but we do need someone better than Pelle . He isn't likely to improve due to his age and building the team around Austin would most likely give better results . I agree Juanmi is an odd signing . I can't fathom why we need him . It would be criminal to rely on Pelle again considering how he fell apart last season . Our defense was reliable until Forster was injured . Surely a back up keeper , keeping Toby and a decent Striker have to be priority in pushing on . Replacing Steven Davis would be great too but Reed can fit that role . Juanmi just doesn't fit unless another striker comes in . Koemans fixation on Pelle hinders the team massively

Who said I know best ? Simply stating that we lack a decent striker . Koemans transfers have been hit and miss . Long is not a striker , a desperation signing . Elia is poor Djuiric is poor Tadic is hit and miss Pelle is limited in ability and age is against him . Mane looks great yet gets played out of position to accommodate Pelle . Toby is fantastic but we may not secure him . Bertrand was an excellent signing . Please point out how Koeman has been excellent in his signings since he joined ?
