  1. His English is still better than my Dutch.
  2. To be fair, he winks at everybody.
  3. I'd just like to say that I have always enjoyed Corp Ho and Eye Skate's contributions to the board. They are generally amusing and don't deliberately set out to wind Saints fans up (unlike, for example, the idiots you get on the Echo's reply pages). I generally think that NickH makes good, sensible points so I don't see why they've all fallen out. I don't want to see fans of other clubs being able to come on here and abuse us or the club but I don't think these two contributors have ever done that except with their tongues firmly in their cheeks. It would be a sad place if we couldn't have light-hearted debate with our nearest rivals without seeking protection behind forum rules. For the record, I thought Redknapp did an appalling job with Saints because his heart wasn't in it and because he wasn't allowed to negotiate the transfers. I also think his failure here is too often glossed over both by him and his media friends.
  4. According to Private Eye (in an article about financial problems in football) "Dubai is a potential second Iceland - overspent and overborrowed, with few remaining oil reserves to bale it out." Incidentally, our friends up the road get a mention "Portsmouth and Bolton still have loans or credit facilities outstanding from the Friedlander subsidiaries of Kaupthing, which was nationalised last week by the Reykjavik government after the Treasury appointed administrators to the UK operations."
  5. No.
  6. In fairness, parts of Portsmouth are much more pleasant than parts of Southampton. Unfortunately, Fratton Park is not one of them.
  7. There was a time when I dreamed of being an Arab plaything. Oh sorry, that's not what you mean, is it? I was never confused.
  8. It takes about 20-25 minutes to get to Central London from Charlton by train. The stadium used to be the largest in London outside Wembley and, despite not being an identikit like ours, is still reasonably impressive. It may be near run down areas like Woolwich but it is also very close to Blackheath (one of the wealthier parts of London). The stadium is also very near the Thames and the Blackwall Tunnel and is well-placed to take advantage of the Olympics and all the development they will bring. The club draws fans from all over Kent as well as from South East London and, until now, has been run as a community-based outfit. I just hope that any big money takeover doesn't spoil the friendly atmosphere.

I've just notived it's Friday. Have we been taken over yet? And how much are the club's shares worth at the moment? Apparently the FTSEs down another 10%. We must be practically worthless by now.

It pains me to type this much overused acronym but LOL.
  12. After today's other results, we could go 10th (taking QPR's place) if we win by two goals, 11th if we only win by 1.
  13. Quite agree. But it still goes on before players have even kicked a ball viz "Why do we need Robertson? No better than we have already." Robertson scores a wonder goal and he's a hero. If he has a poor game next time it will be "Why did we need Robertson? He scored a freaky first goal but he's done nothing since. It proves JP doesn't know what he's doing." Whether Saints fans are any worse than others I don't know but we do always seem to need a whipping boy somewhere in the team and it becomes very difficult for a player to change that perception.

You hear? ...trying to be the Sky news ticker. Are you...
  15. But not really necessary though, is it? All it's done is give the moaners a platform to come and moan about people moaning about them. I'm not sure how that helps any of us. Anyway, I KNOW my opinion is more valid than anyone else's otherwise I'd hold a different one. ;-)
  16. I couldn't go last night as I was supposed to be revising for a forthcoming exam (but I did let checking in on here and a bit of radio listening rather distract me). It sounds like it was a great game. I'm sticking to just wanting to stay up this season and not getting carried away but we are closer in points to the play offs than relegation. And four league games without loss can't just be down to good luck. Well done to JP and the team. And once this exam is out of the way, I'll be back.
  17. ikea?
  18. Any news on the game? Not that I don't appreciate the baking.
  19. Who scored?
  20. Don't be silly. Fulthorpe's a Ladbrokes man.
  21. They're really not making him very welcome at Bournemouth or treating him with sufficient respect. Do you think we could get him back here again?
  22. I particularly like this sentence in Claridge's piece (apart from the missing preposition of course ;-)) "But for now he is in the right place at the right time because the way Southampton play, Lallana and Saints are a match made in heaven."
  23. Stupid post. FACT!
  24. You're right. It was Denis Rofe.
  25. Perhaps that's why Merrington wasn't on Solent on Saturday. He was away plotting the big money deal. It certainly made for a more cheerful listening experience with David Armstrong so please can the negotiations go on for a few more weeks?
