Don't want to be overly cynical but no transfer rumours for weeks and then a few hours before the fans forum - oh would you look at that, a decent transfer rumour.

I think Dibling’s departure always felt inevitable, and if the deal is around £40 million, that’s solid business. He’s clearly talented, but hasn’t shown the consistency to warrant the £50m+ valuation that was being thrown around. It feels like this week could see a number of dominoes start to fall - hopefully in both directions — and with that, some quality arriving too. Also, maybe it’s just me (I haven’t seen anyone else say it), but was there a hint of frustration in Will Still’s recent comments about still knowing where they need to improve? Or am I just letting my pre-season pessimism creep in where it shouldn't…

I think it’s the right decision - for whatever reason, Edozie just wasn’t able to kick on here. I always felt, and still do to some extent, that he had another gear to find, a higher level in him. But if he does reach it, it won’t be in a Southampton shirt. Hopefully this and the Ramsdale move signals the start of things picking up pace - a few more departures, and with any luck, a couple of quality additions through the door.

It's a firm no for me but even if I did entertain it, his record at Almeria was pretty similar to SR, if not worse. This was lifted from Daily Echo's story on it: "Alalshikh was owner of Egyptian club Pyramids from 2018 to 2019, and owned Spanish club UD Almeria between August 2019 and May 2025. Almeria won promotion from the second tier in 2022 but were relegated back out of La Liga, and finished sixth this season in Liga Segunda." Also, for those saying he'd be great just because of his wealth - let’s not forget, old mate Dragan has a similar net worth. There’s no reason to believe this guy would throw in significantly more. And to be fair to SR, spending money hasn’t really been the issue - it’s how that money’s been spent. Be careful what you wish for - this isn’t what Southampton needs.

I see Graeme Bailey is beating the Lampard drum again... Don’t get me wrong, he did a decent job at Coventry, but let’s not forget he still lost 9 games - that’s nearly a third of his matches. Sure, 16 wins is impressive, but I really think we need someone who can make us solid and hard to beat, which hasn’t been the case in what feels like a thousand years. I agree with those who say Mark Robins laid the groundwork, and Lampard just gave the team a short-term boost. Honestly, I really don’t think Frank Lampard is the right fit for us.
