  1. If the new rules for home grown players go through, the value of mediocre, young English players is going to sky rocket.
  2. I just posted "I Make Predictions (Round 32 plus)."
  3. You are right it does say that. But it would make no sense to have a different rule for the two situations. I will do some more googling and edit this post if I find anything. I should have read all the way through the thread before responding. CB Fry is right. If Liverpool win the FA cup, they qualify for the Europa League by virtue of winning the FA cup not by virtue of the league position no matter what it is since the FA cup position is the higher one. The runner up would get nothing.
  4. I have looked and found nothing that resembles a rule requiring PL grounds to be able to hold a minimum number of fans.
  5. Thank you. I hope responding in a helpful way doesn't get you banned.
  6. What does it stand for?
  7. Here is the link to the BBC article you mentioned: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/31990668 I believe they are wrong. I have discussed it in detail on my blog: http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/2015/01/european-qualification-rules-for.html Here is a link to an official document which makes this clear: http://www.as.com/misc/circular_nuevo_formato_UCL.pdf The beginning is in Spanish but the relevant part is in English. Unless someone has falsified the document and posted it on line to trick people, it is pretty clear. By the way, as of the last posting (end of December ) England was third in the UEFA respect fair play table which, if it holds up, would qualify a English club for the first round of the Europa League--starting their seaon on July 2. The current Premier League fair play table is here: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/fair-play.html West Ham and Burnley are in first and second place. Burnley really doesn't need that.
  8. I was more expressing my opinion that Schneiderlin was a better passer and had shown some ability to score earlier this season and could do more if free to make runs from midfield because the defense was secure behind him.
  9. Good hyped up hysterics or laughing hysterics?
  10. Both. And I agree about their coverage. That's why I was so shocked by the sudden display of ignorance about what 6th place meant. And now Alejandro Moreno on ESPN FC predicted that Liverpool was going to finish in sixth place and out of Europe. I don't know whether he thinks Tottenham or us will be fifth and whether we can finish in seventh place and be in Europe.
  11. I am theorizing that Schneiderlin can be more effective in an advanced role that what we have been using there.
  12. I agree that were are very unlikely to catch any of the top four clubs. But Man City's game in hand is not an advantage to them because, unlike United and Arsenal, they can still lose this weekend. If they beat Crystal Palace then are chances against them are, of course, very slim but the small chance that palace can get a result is something. As for you analysis of the probable results, I agree that if we assume Man City is going to play up to their potential we can't catch them. I just think that right now they are showing the best signs of not playing up to their potential. That being said, our only hope is if one of the second through fourth clubs decides to lose all its games against the other top seven clubs and drops points against lesser clubs as well--and we virtually have to win out. All of that is unlikely, but I would not be surprised if Man City fail to come in second.
  13. Probably. Given the remaining schedule our best chance is to finish ahead of Manchester City since we would have to beat them at the end of the season to have a chance anyway.
  14. Because Liverpool probably didn't let us know their actual valuation. For all we known, they might have been willing to pay more but out negotiated us.
  15. I just wanted to point out that NBC's pundits, Robbie Earle and Kyle Martino, agreed today that Tottenham would be better off finishing 6th rather than 5th so they could avoid the Europa League next year--just like Liverpool did last year. I elected to post this because none of my local friends follow the Premier League and I felt compelled to do something more than shout "You are idiots" at the TV.
  16. Australia is currently ranked 65th in the world by FIFA. Under the new work permit rules, it will be difficult to get work permits for Australian players.
  17. We should have been playing Schneiderlin Wanyama and Cork right from the start when they were all available.
  18. Davis Clyne Fonte Alderweireld Bertrand Wanyama Reed Mane Schneiderlin Tadic Long I don't do formatting.
  19. His save against JWP was exceptional as well.
  20. We have also won by one goal too many times. In fact, Premier League games are usually won by a single goal, or drawn. (Did I need that comma?)
  21. Maybe that is his analysis of an apparent club policy based upon observation.
  22. Well, sort of. http://www.espnfc.us/video/espn-fc-tv/86/video/2378853

    JWP

Well, enough nonsense. I have to got to "sleep" so I can wake up in time for the game. I hope I set the "alarm" on my ipad correctly.

    JWP

And by the way, "who" are 'they'?
  25. In subsequent games did he hang it way off to the outside of the goal?
