  1. Or 15th or 16th.
  2. I found this slightly interesting. http://www.football-observatory.com/Three-quarter-of-Premier-League-minutes-played-by
  3. If we lost in the Champions League playoff we would go directly into the Europa League group phase.
  4. If we win all our remaining games we finish ahead of Tottenham. We finish ahead of Liverpool unless they also win all their remaining games. We would need Manchester United to drop seven points to pass them. Arsenal to drop eight points and Manchester City to drop nine points. All three results are possible although I doubt that all three will happen. We would need Chelsea to drop 18 points in their remaining nine games. That seems unlikely to say the least. If I had to guess I would guess that winning all our remaining games gets us into the Champions League but two losses eliminate us. In the other direction, if Swansea wins all its remaining games, we need to win five and draw one to finish ahead of them. By the way, we mathematically avoided relegation on Saturday. In fact, we have already clinched 14th place. I will let you know when we mathematically can't make the top four, if that day ever comes.
  5. Why would the fact that better Everton teams have routinely beat worse Southampton teams have any relevance to this year? This is a real question. I have never understood the excessive focus on past results given how little continuity there is in Premier League teams from year to year much less from decade to decade.
  6. It was just another case of mistaken mistaken identity.
  7. Just for the record Alyson Rudd of The Times seems to be hoping we make the Champions League and has said that if we do it would be the greatest football story of all time.
  8. It worked out this time, but I stand by my suboptimal prediction statement. Most games are drawn or won by a single goal.
  9. Presumably whomever is on the bench at Everton.
  10. I agree predicting anyone to win 2-0 in the premier league is a suboptimal prediction.
  11. Keep in mind that players who join us when they are 18--from whatever country--can become home grown club players for European purposes and home grown players for Premier League purposes. Schneiderlin is an example of that.
  12. Doing it that way would make his running point total less accurate though so maybe not.
  13. He would count as association trained, but not club trained. Depending now who leaves we may or may not need more of them.

Tony Pulis should be England's next manager. He would be both effective and annoying.
  15. Walcott would have the advantage of being a club trained player for European purposes.
  16. The European Leagues simply have to refuse to sign new agreements with FIFA on the release of players for international duty and that would stop this from happening.
  17. He and Schneiderlin are our only club trained home grown players for European competition purposes. He was going to be resigned unless he was literally worse than nothing because he will not take up a European roster spot that we could fill with anyone else. As it is our European Roster will have only 23 players--22 if Schneiderlin goes. Plus the under 21s of course. I discussed this in my blog at the end of January. http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/2015/01/southamptons-european-roster-issues.html
  18. You should not read too much into the club's decision to sign Isgrove. He is one of only two club home grown players for European purposes--the other is Schneiderlin. If we qualify for Europe he does not take up a roster spot that could be used by anyone else so the only reason not to sign him is if he is literally (and I literally mean literally) worse than nothing. Of course, he could turn out to be a good and very useful player.
  19. And one that we have no reason to be upset about since he wasn't going to play that much here. Maybe if he plays well for Swansea he will get an English call up. Then he can be tapped up by the big clubs.
  20. I posted "I Make Predictions (Round 30)"
  21. But they were not a fair description at the time. "Not good enough" might have been a fair description but not a comparison to Ali Dia or "conference standard."
  22. The transfer embargo lasts until the end of this summer's transfer window.
  23. The turning point for Sunderland was the Darren Bent transfer in January 2011. They were doing quote well then, but nothing has gone right since. They should not have given in to pressure to transfer their primary striker at the very end of the January transfer window when there was no ability to replace him.

None of your claims are facts--although they might all end up happening in the future. However, if Clyne goes we are likely to buy replacement rather than automatically award the position to a U21 player. Frankly, I would not be surprised if Clyne stayed one more year and left on a free. Certainly, that would be the best deal for the player himself.
