My understanding is that the fair play spot goes to the club that ranks the highest on the fair play table who has not already qualified. So the eighth place team might qualify for Europe but not for that reason.

That is one of the most interesting football related stories I have read since I started reading football related stories a few years ago. It does raise several questions: Why didn't Gerrard take his family to Los Angeles a couple of years ago? He was old enough to retire from Liverpool FC then. Why did Lambert want to take his family back to Liverpool?

Sherwood has more of a point. He had worked with the younger players at Tottenham before he became manager and the team is not doing noticeably better this year than it was last year. MP, on the other hand, had nothing to do with youth development and we have improved since he left and a lot of the improvement is due to players he never coached here.

I don't fully understand why the Balotelli penalty controversy is not entirely Rodgers' fault. Liverpool has two of the best penalty takers in the world in Balotelli and Lambert. Gerrard is good but not at their level. Since he is the long time captain who has always taken the penalties it makes sense to leave it that way, but when he isn't on the field surely Rodgers should have designated Balotelli and Lambert to take penalties ahead of Henderson or Sturridge.

It is a question of interpretation. I read what you quoted to say that runners up will not qualify to play in the 2015-2016 Europa League. You read it to say that runners up in the 2015-2016 season will not qualify for the Europa League. Even though it was not my initial interpretation I agree that your interpretation is possible. Parsing Wikipedia will provide no answers. I have tried to find it on the UEFA web site and I cannot. Generalized googling only brings up equally unclear information. Edit: Issue resolved. Someone should respond by leaking stories that some of the good players on the big teams want to move to Southampton to get actual first team playing time and point to Ryan Bertrand as an example.

Is Katharina Liebherr still attending every home game? I ask because I cannot tell by watching American TV coverage. In the fall, the cameras would show here at some point in every game--not so much since December? Is she still there?
