  1. It is terrifying enough stopping on the hard shoulder for both the driver and the recovery vehicle. Multiply that by 1000 for breaking down with no hard shoulder. You would think with the models they can build with today’s technology they could have seen what a bad idea this is. Just a few weeks ago there was a guy on tv saying how safe they were. Now we are told that they are not being rolled out, clearly because they are not safe. I drove by a fatality a few weeks ago on the M20. I can’t say that it was the result of being “smart” but this was a very dangerous motorway at the best of times. Now I use the A20 in preference. We have also the extra problem of Operation Brock. Over 20 miles of a single lane of the M20 will be turned into a lorry park post Brixit so we have lost another lane anyway (it has been blocked off since the last Brexit exit point in March).
  2. Good luck to him. Not cut out for Premiership football but clearly can play. I hope he does well at Celtic so we can get some money for him. FF too.
  3. Too smart for the public it would seem as they are not now going to roll them out. For me this was an idea that should never of left the drawing board. Hard shoulders are not overly safe but they are a lot safer than no hard shoulders. My local motorway is the M20 (soon to become a lorry car park if Brexit gets done). It is a smart motorway and it is a nightmare. It doesn’t help with all of the left hand drive lorries from the continent using it, but we have had several fatalities on it recently despite being told that they are safer. Good news that they are not rolling them out. I just hope that they dump them all together and return the current ones to normal motorways.
  4. So we have learnt nothing from the Jo Cox murder. The right wing press take much of the blame. Their inflammatory headlines and anti EU bias have been nagging away for years. The headlines recently have been a disgrace. Johnson’s rhetoric about surrender and traitors doesn’t help. I have lost count of the times I hear “get Brexit done” everyday as if it will all end if he gets this deal signed off. Even members of the audience were quoting it on Question Time last night. We are in an unholy mess and a GE is not likely to make things any less messy.
  5. It does make sense, but unfortunately good sense seems to have died a death under the current Government.
  6. You strange boy. I wasn’t making it up. I work part time for a guy who always used to vote Tory. Last election he voted LibDem. This time he says he will vote Labour. He is a remainer.
  7. A 12th December election? The Boris Who Stole Christmas.
  8. But the biggest one and the most powerful one is Prime Minister.
  9. I have a friend who voted to leave. Now he has seen what could potentially happen in Ireland he has become a remainer.
  10. This is the crux of the matter. We know a lot more about the impact of Brexit now than we did at the time. As a remainer I wouldn’t have so much of a problem if we left after a second vote. It is a massive and hugely complicated situation and we ought to have an opportunity to revisit our decision based on a higher level of understanding of the issues and consequences.
  11. Give it a rest Jeff. You and hypo are becoming a not very pleasant internet double act.
  12. You really do need to get help mate. I wasnt going to reply to your obsessive post for fear of furling you’re obsession further but you leave me no choice on this occasion. Vigilante Justice - I asked you if you thought it was ok and you said no. I said good, then we agree. You then started to go all Daily Mail and accused me of saying that people on the thread had supported the killing. I hadn’t and I couldn’t be bothered to get into one with you so I went along with it as I could remember one poster who said he had got what he deserved. My fault. I should have asked where I said that there was support for the vigilante killing, which I shall do now. Go and find it. Not the bit about reading different threads, before that when you went off on one. Ched Evans - acquitted with “evidence” bought by the Evans camp. That doesn’t seem to worry you in the least. Intoxicated people cannot give consent for sex and that is why Evans was found guilty originally. Nothing changed re the intoxication in the second trial. The CPS still believe that he committed rape but were not able to convince the jury. I also believe that he committed rape. It is an opinion based on the findings of experienced senior prosecutors. When I worked for the CPS we saw a number of rapists go free. OJ Simpson walked free from court when many people believe he killed 2 people. Do you stop thinking of him as a murderer just because the jury didn’t see it that way? Why does it bother you so much what I think. The law is there to protect our daughters. One day you might see things differently if your daughter comes across people who take sexual advantage of drunk people. So I don’t like racists or people with a far right agenda, so what? I think you will find that I am not alone on that score. You talk about those who whip up hysteria about racism in football. People like Raheem Sterling are whipping up hysteria? Seriously, you do yourself no favours when you play down the racism that still clearly exists in football. Calling Nazis Christians. Yes, because a great many were. There is far more evidence out there than the belt buckles you are so fond of but trying to convince you otherwise is a pointless exercise. What is your problem with Nazis having a religion? Oh dear, Maidstone again. For the thousandth time as I used to live there I saw first hand how rowdy the town got at weekends and as we know someone was recently stabbed to death there. People are being stabbed to death on a regular basis all over the country. When I worked for the CPS I would come in to work and find a huge pile of files on my desk relating to violence on the streets of Kent. Perhaps we should just play it down, like with racism in football? Katie Hopkins - yes, I seem to remember calling her out for yet another abhorrent published tirade against law abiding Muslims. You, for reasons know only to yourself, decided to cloud the Muslim issue and moved the debate onto whether Hopkins was a Christian or not. Why didn’t you just agree that he words were not acceptable? Perhaps you agreed with them? Boycott - I read article about his case when his knighthood hit the news which said the case wasn’t necessarily black and white and perhaps he wasn’t guilty. It touched a nerve because I had been in a similar situation and when I looked at the evidence that was generally available I couldn’t find something that was conclusive. I did say that there might be a medical report that would nail it, but I couldn’t find it. Subsequent hearsay evidence points to his innocence but still not conclusive. Did he actually beat the woman? I don’t know for sure. If he did he deserves a jail term. Just because I have some doubts about his conviction doesn’t mean I am a domestic abuse apologist. As for not looking at this case the same way as the Evans case, they are completely different cases with completely different circumstances and there is no disputing that Evans had sex with an intoxicated woman. You say that posters like you laugh at me. Fortunately posters like you are in the minority and if you think I am bothered by an obsessive stalker who gets himself worked up by a complete stranger on the internet you are deluded. Putting people like you on ignore is not running away, it is taking a break from tiresome internet trolls. And if you wonder why I keep calling the likes of you and your other alt right buddies out it is because those of a more left persuasion aren’t as unpleasant as you lot. Enjoy your evening.
  13. You seriously need to stop doing this for a while.
  14. Run away and pretend it never happened? Are you for real?
  15. I’m glad you find it funny.
  16. I’d love to ignore this but as you are talking fabricated ******** as usual I will respond later when I have time. You really do take this stuff way too seriously and I wonder about your mental health.
  17. You really do have a serious problem mate
  18. Even more of a reason to have a second referendum to help get Brexit sorted. We can then think about what type of Government we want to take the country forward.
  19. Given that a GE is likely to leave us pretty much where we are at the moment, perhaps it is time for a second referendum, once they have knocked the current deal into shape. A simple vote. The new (amended) deal and the choice to remain. That way a new Government can get on with running the country instead of having to renegotiate the Brexit minefield.
  20. Give it up hypo. You outed yourself when you supported Katie Hopkins. As I have said to you before, what would your family think of you if they read some of your childish comments? You say you have a daughter so I assume that you are an adult. Do you tell her that it’s wrong to troll people on the internet?
  21. Wife eating! Now there’s an interesting thread in the making!
  22. Yep, as if the football and Brexit isn’t depressing enough I have got my own troll pack. You have to wonder what their personal lives are like if they feel the need to stalk people on the internet, still, at least it keeps them off the streets!
  23. Welcome to the dull, obsessive bickering thread!
  24. Given that I spent 8 years of my life in the CPS prosecuting domestic violence perpetrators why would I defend them? Go back and read what I said.
