You would have us believe that Yusuf is the acceptable face of Reform? There is no acceptable face of Reform. The party morphed from UKIP which itself had deep roots in those who previously supported the NF and BNP. Farage pretends to distance himself from the extremist elements but is more than happy for the likes of Robinson, Hopkins and Tate to do the groundwork for him and drum up support. It is the same stuff as MAGA, another extreme nationalistic populist movement which you also seem to quietly support. Perhaps, instead of calling people “vile scum”, ask yourself why you are drawn to people like Trump and Farage. I’m guessing it is a conspiracy theory thing? That shtick has been sucking people like you in for decades. Does believing their crap make you feel special? Still, whatever floats your boat nic, eh? By the way, Robinson has been arrested again, this time for alleged GBH. Seems that he can’t stay out of trouble for more than a few days. Is he “vile scum” nic or do you give him a free pass because you share his agenda?
-
So a person with brown or black skin cannot also be racist? Not only lazy nic, but yet again you display a staggering level of ignorance. We all know what these people are all about. Just show some backbone and own your support for their agendas.

What a nasty piece of work. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gjxg65p56o.amp

I wonder what the odds were on one of this country’s most current high profile racists being born with the same initials as the National Front? Something for our resident conspiracy theorist and GB News aficionado to ponder on. I wonder if nic’s surname beings with an F too? 🤔

Given that 77 million people in the US thought it was a good idea to vote for Trump and there is a growing number here who support Reform and previously thought it was wise to vote for Brexit and Johnson, it is no surprise really. They should consider changing its name to the NF Broadcasting Company. Yet another example, if we needed one, that turkeys do actually vote for Christmas.

There are plenty of others including the IRA (Thatcher was in talks with them despite saying she didn’t talk to terrorusts) and Mandela and the ANC. But yes, the Israelis deliberately killed British people when pursuing their aims, but they seem to get a free pass by some. Evidence that the IDF deliberately target children. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cjelp738zd7o If Hamas are not seen to be fit to be included in peace talks, why is Netanyahu’s regime ok when they are clearly committing war crimes too and have done consistently since 7th October 2023? https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/israel-gaza-war-children-british-doctor-video-b2792054.html I saw the interview with a doctor last night explaining how they would present at hospital on particular days with gunshot wounds in particular places (including the testicles). Anyone arguing that Netanyahu’s methods are less monstrous than those of Hamas should seek some help.

147 of the 193 member nations of the UN recognise Palestine as a state. If that is in breach of international law and awful lot of lawyers have either given dodgy advice, or the nations have just decided to ignore the law. It seems that most people, other than the Israelis, think that the best solution for all parties involved is the two state solution. Little wonder that Israel are kicking up such a stink given that they don’t want a two state solution and are actively trying to remove the Palestinians from their own land.

Triggered again Batman? 😂 I would have bet my mortgage on it. For the record, I wasn’t the one who dragged the “far right” reference onto this thread. Still, it’s always worth a laugh to see how you lot get so touchy when called out.

Booby Moore? Freudian slip? If you count the trophies that they lifted, then on that basis she is, but as in all sports, men and women should be judged on their relative and respective merits. If she goes on to win the women’s World Cup too that will be some feat. We don’t need reminding that the men’s England team have failed to win the Euros let alone win them back to back, even under the great “Booby” Moore. It’s a shame that there is a need from some quarters to belittle the women’s achievements just because they are women and not as strong, physically, as men. Women and girls are still playing catch up in regard to the opportunities they have to develop their game. Let’s not forget that the FA actually banned them from playing the game for many years. Lets just enjoy the fact that we have actually won another major footballing trophy, irrespective of the gender of the team, and stop the nitpicking.

Really? I disagree. I think that most reasonable people can tell the difference don’t have a problem with someone expressing a bit of national pride and saying that they are proud of being English, British, Scottish, French, Spanish or whatever. The issue is when that comes with the baggage of racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia etc. For example, when the likes of the leader of the Reform party, Tommy Robinson or Katie Hopkins use that phrase, you just know that it is loaded and expresses something more than just national pride. I’m not really sure why you felt the need to mention the “far right” on a thread about women’s football? Anyway, it was great to see them all enjoying themselves amongst the diverse crowds along the Mall eh? On another note, the Spanish team don’t seem to be taking defeat very well. So what if they were the better team on the day? It’s all about sticking the ball into the back of the net, and England managed that better than Spain 🏆 Go away and work on your finishing ladies. Better luck next time.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

Yes, I watched some of it. So what? Would you prefer these people were left to roam the streets and sleep rough? Wasn’t it the last government who decided that it was a good idea to put them up in hotels and not bother to do anything about processing the claims? The current government are processing claims, sending people back who aren’t entitled to be here and are going to stop using hotels. Progress being made, yes? By the way, some of these people have been put up in a dump of a hotel near us in Hythe but I doubt if he would be interested in videoing that. -

Women getting pregnant? Whatever next? Still, it is good to see you have moved on from posting about Asian sex offenders. I have stayed at the Copthorne. It’s a nice place. I hope that your mates don’t set fire to it. -
You really do have a problem with women don’t you. Typically you are an expert on what it takes to win competitions yet you didn’t even watch yesterday’s match. Any team who wins any competition deserves it just by virtue of the fact that they have won when they have needed to, be they men or women. The fact that the women’s team have won more competitions than the men’s team should be applauded. Do you know their names yet or are you still using lazy Duckhunter type labels? As for Chloe Kelly, she was by far the most effective crosser of the ball in the England squad and also one of the most assured penalty takers. We looked better team with her on the pitch. The idea that England would not have won the trophy if she had started is just utter nonsense. The truth is we will never know, but it is just as likely that we would not have had to fight so hard in the earlier knock out rounds and would have been fresher for the final. Given her performances and experience at this level it is not at all unreasonable to expect a player of her caliber to start matches, especially as another attacking option, Lauren James, was clearly struggling for fitness.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

My team, Southampton FC, has done something to kill people? OMG, what exactly have they done? Whatever you think of a government policy, I am sure that they don’t deliberately set out to actually kill people. By your logic every government that has never paid a winter fuel allowance has set out to kill people. If you had one shred of basic intelligence you might have understood my point - that scare mongering by throwing completely random and unscientific figures around is neither helpful or responsible. A bit like you and your anti-vaccine conspiracy theories. If anyone is killing people it is the person who spreads lies about vaccines. You being one of those people. By the way, I have mostly voted for the LibDem party so if you are going to label me politically, that is where you need to go. I have made it very clear that I vote Labour to get the Tories out and have only done so in the last 3 elections. I did actually say that my preference in the last election would be a Labour/LidDem coalition. I know that you struggle with actual facts and prefer to make up your own to suit your own agendas, but you just make yourself look dim. P.S. I should have added that I am one of those who didn’t get the fuel allowance this winter. I don’t have a problem with the benefit being means tested though. I suppose you were ok with the likes of Alan Sugar and Richard Branson getting it too? -

You don’t care about women’s football but you still find the time to post about it. 🤔 I don’t watch club games but I enjoy these international competitions. I don’t watch a lot of tennis but I do watch Wimbledon. I am not a big fan of athletics but I do watch some of the international competitions. Not sure what your issue is (apart from having a problem with the attention given to women’s football). Perhaps you would be happier if they just stayed in the kitchen? 😉 I assume that you won’t be watching the final then?

How long before The Donald appears on our screens with a pair of white Y-fronts on his head, a pencil up each nostril and uttering the word “wibble”? His ramblings seem to be more incoherent by the day. Given the grief that Biden took in the media for his cognitive decline, Trump is getting away with far worse Scot free.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
sadoldgit replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Starmer himself has said that it will take two terms to overturn all of the damage done by the years of Tory mismanagement. Personally I think that it will take longer given the damage done. Sadly the great British public won’t give them that long and want everything fixed today. It is quite scary to hear the number of people who say that they are fed up with the Tories and Labour and claim that Farage can’t do any worse. Oh yes he can! Seems odd why they aren’t looking at the LibDems as a better option but I guess populist claptrap is resonating more with those who are easily (mis)led. Apart from being too soft on Netanyahu, Starmer has been very good on the international stage and it has been good to see us represented by someone who looks like a proper statesman. He inherited a poisoned chalice domestically but hasn’t helped his cause with some in Labour like missteps. Still time to turn things round but he has to stop running scared of the Faragists. The fact that more and more of them are becoming emboldened and now think it is ok to crawl out from under their rocks just because Farage is playing the Trump cards does not mean that Starmer has to throw them some red meat too. There will always be people who will be swayed by the likes of Thatcher, Trump and Farage. People who only care about themselves. Starmer’s job is to rally the rest and show that we can be better than that. I don’t think anyone with a reasonable amount of intelligence seriously expected a magic turn around in just 12 months, but he needs to do a better job of selling hope for a better future than he is at present. *By the way, we were told that up to 5000 people could lose their lives due to the winter fuel cut in 24/25. Anyone know what the figure was? I am guessing it wasn’t the huge catastrophe we were led to believe it was by Badenoch and Farage as, unless I have missed something, they have both been very quiet on figures. -
I was a big Sabbath fan in the early 70’s and had their first four albums. I finally got to see them live in the mid 70’s and they were poor but they certainly started a new genre in rock, “heavy metal.” Ozzy was not as gifted vocally as the likes of Robert Plant or Ian Gillan but he certainly had a personality that transcended just being the front man in a rock band, no doubt further promoted by his wife. Ozzy was a rock legend. He will probably be remembered for biting off the head of a bat or by those crazy family programmes, but his music will live on. Come 1974 I thought that heavy metal was dead. The fact that that music genre is still alive and flourishing is down in no small measure to Ozzy Osbourne’s career with both Black Sabbath and his own solo career. RIP Ozzy, Prince of Darkness

This has always been a strange place but over time you get used to the hard of thinking, the deliberately obtuse, the WUMs and the trolls. Now it seems we have to have our posts analysed by AI as well. Oh well, such is progress I suppose. When you ask AI to analyse this thread, does it give you a “basic football forum” algorithm setting I wonder? There are clearly some posters on this thread who do not have a problem with what the Israelis are doing in both Gaza and the West Bank. They may “wince” at a comment about one particular method of killing but you don’t see them wincing at news reports of innocent women and children being the target of snipers whilst queuing up for food and water, whilst being starved to death, whilst being blown apart by missiles and shells, by being buried under tons of rubble, by lying in hospital in agony through lack of meds waiting for a life saving operation that will never come. It is the same old modus operandi. Don’t look at that, look at this. The standard deflection technique currently used to good effect by the likes of Trump and Farage. They can’t defend the indefensible so they try and focus attention on a faux outrage somewhere else. What Hamas did on 7th October was clearly and undoubtably a stain on humanity. What Netanyahu’s war machine has been doing ever since, by virtue of its much larger scale, is an even bigger stain on humanity. I am not sure why anyone would say or think otherwise. To get yourself into a lather about a comment about how people die is to deliberately miss the point. The point is that they are dying. People were butchered on 7th October and people have been butchered in the region ever since. That is what you should get yourselves worked up about. It has nothing to do with what religion they are, they are human beings first and foremost. If you want to wince about something, rather than a random comment on a football forum, wince about the soldier who trains his rifle sight onto a frail, starving and thirsty woman or child, queuing for food and water … and pulls the trigger.Wince at the lifeless bodies of children dragged out of a cafe hit by an IDF guided missile. Surely they are more worthy of your disdain than a dumb comment on a dumb forum? If not you have some serious issues.
