To be fair he wasn't a regular starter earlier in the season but since he has had a run he has proved his worth.

I didn't see them until 1972 the Hammersmith Odeon and then the Wembley gigs in 1974. I didn't see The Nice first time round but did catch them when Keith toured with them again in 2002. I have been listening to the live album from that tour, Vivacitus, today, Still sounds amazing. The fusion of rock, classics, jazz and blues isn't to everyones taste but the versions of the Karelia Suite, Pictures At An Exhibition etc blew me away when I was a teenager. To see him playing Bach from behind the Hammond organ (and underneath it!) was bat**** crazy but it was what the 70s was all about. Amazing musician, amazing showman. After the slagging that Punk gave ELP and their ilk it was also funny to see John Lydon and Keith become mates later in life too!

Yep, you have to be of a certain age. I thought there might be a few more Prog Heads on here but it seems like we are a dying breed.

Power of the Press......or mis-use of it.

This hasn't just happened. The media has been this way for years and years. -
Same could be said for David Bowie. I know many people here weren't even born then, but ELP were t he biggest band on the planet in the early to mid 70s. Yes, bigger than Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd for a while. Keith Emerson was possibly the best keyboard player that rock has ever produced. But feel free to pass him off as just an old man.

I am the only one then?

Post-Match Reaction: Stoke City 1-2 SAINTS
sadoldgit replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Was going to say the same thing. Rubbish that Pelle isn't he? -
Another musical giant has passed away. He made some truly wonderful alums with The Nice and ELP and was described as the Jimi Hendrix of the keyboards. He was a massive hero of mine in the 70s. Very sad news.

I am talking about a "Little Englander" mind set but I am sure you get that. I am sure you will get that because you are a Little Englander.

It has quite a lot to do with it. We haven't had an Empire for many years and are not the power in the world we once were yet to hear some people talk you would think we were still in that place. We are European and we need to be part of the European Union. You said yourself that both leaving and staying were both a leap in the dark. If we are heading to 4th as you say, isn't that because of being part of the EU? So why jeopardise that by bailing out?
-
Which is great if we were America, but we are a tiny part of Europe and becoming tinier each year. We really need to understand that the glory years are well behind us and that we need to show that we are part of Europe and not just when it suits us.
-
From what he said the other day it looks like he wants to stay and prove that he can play in the Premiership. Good luck to the bloke. I hope he does.
-
We should have no more or less influence than anyone else but that doesn't mean that our influence is insignificant. We will certainly be insignificant in Europe if we leave the EU.

I see, so your passion is slagging off players and the manager and that is ok? Nice hobby. Perhaps you should take up gardening too? I suspect that if that had been Pelle getting tackled in the pictures and not JRod you would have a sarcastic comment for that. All you do is find a reason to slag off Koeman or certain players. Is it really that hard to be passionate about the positives and not just the negatives?
-
So better to be in and help shape those changes than stand on the outside and watch it all go on without any input perhaps?

My first game wasn't until 1966 but I remember kids being allowed to go down the front to get a view. I also remember scanning the pages of the papers for a match report when on my paper rounds but because I lived in London there weren't all that many. Unfortunately the 70s came along and ruined the experience for many younger generations.

England footballer 'arrested over underage sex allegations'

Sent packing to where he came from? -
Is having a pulse mandatory then?

Sorry but I don't think I was being rude or having a dig. I was simply making the point that there is a world of difference between under 21 football and Premiership football. Yes, I expect you have seen more under 21 football than I have. I don't know if he will make it or not but I don't think we are in a position to say for certain either way until he gets a run in the 1st team.

Sunderland's CEO has resigned. -
For as long as I have supported this club we have picked up points from unlikely teams and dropped them against poor sides. I expect this to continue until I croak.
