  1. I dont support SFC because of the size of the club and really dont give a feck whether Spurs, Everton or anyone else are "bigger." I like the fact that we have been able to compete with so called "bigger" clubs without paying stupid wages and stupid transfer fees. Long may it continue and if it means that players leave for "bigger" clubs it just means it gives us the opportunity to bring other players though who are happy to play for the club as it is. If I wanted to be a "plastic" I would have been off years ago. I have always been proud to support SFC whatever divsion we have played in. To me the club will always be bigger than any player, any Board member, anyone. I am also happy that KL is continuing to run the club without turning into another Man City.
  2. I think the "Southampton Way" was actually the "Cortese Way" and meant whatever he wanted it to mean for any given circumstance. In other words, it was b*llsh*t.
  3. I can't say for sure but would think that newly promoted sides are statistically more likely to get relegated in their first season. QPR scrapped their way to promotion and dont look a good bet to stay up to me. Southampton have consolodated their Premiership status, have excellent facilities, ambition (yes, ambition), a decent manager and one of the most talked about acadamies in football. Despite the negative stories we are still an attractive club. We will sign players and eventually all of this nonsense will blow away and we will get on with the business of wniing football matches.
  4. Indeed! You can have all of the possession in the world but if you score less than the other team it is a waste of time. From the WC I thought that the "future" was the counter attack.
  5. I would imagine the sticking point could well be the wages rather than the asking price.
  6. High wages are clearly an issue and there should be a cap but that isnt going to happen as SKY want the best players playing in the Premiership. It does make it harder for clubs like Southampton to compete or to keep players but it just means that we have to be smarter. Keeping players long term when "big" clubs come knocking is near impossible. The alternative is to compete and put our financial position in jeopody. What would you do?
  7. Indeed. Manchester City didnt use the high pressing game last season. Germany did not use the high pressing game in winning the World Cup. When Spain were "the future" they did not use the high pressing game. We lost several games that we should have won because of the high pressing game. It will be interesting to see what Pochettino does next season with Spurs but I am guessing they wont be "the future."
  8. Lambert was crap all season?
  9. How many of their players were wanted by Liverpool or Manchester United??? Do you think that Lovren would want out if Palace were in for him???
  10. If you or Lovren thinks that someone like Ronald Koeman lacks leadership then I despair.
  11. Chill. We have lost THREE players and signed TWO. If and when other players go worry about it if and when it happens.
  12. What does your dog say?
  13. He should have put his laces through the ball - heard from Townsend several times a match.
  14. Very confusing as elsewhere Crook says he isnt a target of ours? Could explain why he hasnt put pen to paper with Honest Arry just yet though.
  15. And yet some still cant get their head around this
  16. Rio has plenty of experience but you get the feeling that anyone playing in the Premiership with Ferdinand nowdays is going to spend an awful lot of time covering his lack of pace. He is not the player he once was by a long way.
  17. Have we actually made a bid for him?
  18. 3. Three. That is the number of players who have left. Three. Two have come in.
  19. What has happened to you FC? You could be relied upon to write moderate posts once up a time and now you have become a bedwetter. It KL wasnt bothered about SFC why hs she just recruited a manager with the status of Ronald Koeman? We have lost some players that no other club in our situation could keep hold off. Where is the problem? I dont think for one minute that Lallana and Shaw would still be here is Cortese and Pochettino were still here or if Markus was still alive. The lure of Liverpool and United will always be too great. Cheer up....for goodness sake mate. Koeman has talked about improving on last year. Isnt that ambition or a desire to be better?
  20. If it didnt put Pelle and Tadic off why should it deter Vlaar?
  21. Cortese was not removed. He lft of his own free will. The people in charge now have employed one of the biggest names in football to manage our football club. We are brining more players into the club and could potentially end up with a stronger squad than last year. Not sure what you mean about holding back? Deals get done when they get done. I wasnt aware that we has planned to leave it all to the last minute. Why not wait and see how things pan out before you throw yourself off the roof?
  22. Several playrs are still on holiday. When they return we have a decent squad.
