Les Reed - has and will have NOTHING to do with the first team
sadoldgit replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
So, the media hating, shy, retiring CEO who doesn't want to know anyone to know his or the clubs business would reply to me giving me a truthful version of events? -

Let me get this right, you say that it is a fact? Earlier you said who knows and who cares? -

Is it Corporate Policy to buy a player the manager might not fancy then phone up and ask why he wasn't playing? Wasn't this one of the reasons that people hated Lowe so much, because of interferrance with team affairs (allegedly). You can see a scenario where there is a meeting to talk through the game and decisions made. If this happened as reported it sounds like it was taken in a different way by the manager. -

Do you think he would bother to reply? All we know is that he had to do it. Apparently. -

I care because I would like to know the real reason the CEO got rid of a perfectly decent manager. In case you hadn't noticed, we have lost every game since. -

Sorry DD I don't understand your point. I have already said that if this forum had been around in the 70s McMenemy would have been crucified in the year we were in the 2nd division. I don't slag off managers so my treatment of LM would be the same as the treatment I have given Pardew, JP Wotte Burley etc. -

All comes back to the manager or coach issue that we used to have under Lowe. You can see why someone would want to come in and be manager as you would imagine you would have more control. A coach is....well, a coach. We don't know what happened but it seems possible that Cortese and Pardew did not see eye to eye about Pardew's roll and the way he carried it out. Anyone with the strength of character to take this club up will, you would think, want to do it their way. Once upon a time the most important person at a club was the manager. Now it is the CEO. -

YOu know very well there is a difference between asking questions and asking you to justify yourself and your decisions. In the article the inference was that NC was oversteeping the mark in APs view. As has been said, if Lowe had done the same you would be all over him like a rash. Still, it is all conjecture isn't it? -

It may well not be true, but how can you be sure? From what we have hard so far I would say it was possible. Certainly Up & Aways post makes it sound like it is something that he might do. Something wasn't right between Cortese and Pardew. It usually comes down to the manager feeling that he is not being allowed to manage. May of may not be the case but generally if managers are getting 100% support from their CEO you don't get this problem. There seemed to be issiues over priorities last year. Pardew said he was keen to win something for the club and the fans as we had been starved of success. If Cortses was 100% focuseed on promotion you can see where the rift started. All conjecture of course but really, why get rid of a manager who did a good job last year and was trying to build on that this year? It doesn't make sense. -
He did, and so did our chance of climbing back up the table.
-
Gawd it is getting worse. The manager hasn't even been appointed yet and he is getting a kicking.

Which is precisely what you did with a previous CEO. -

What do you mean? Don't you recall the amount of posts on here slagging off a previous manager for supposedly getting involved in team affairs. But all of a sudden it is okay because you approve of this CEO and you didn't the other??? -

Or lets assume everything we are told is the truth...on the other hand, we could remain about skepital about offical statements from anyone. -

Actually your version of the text is probably right. As we all know, his praise of Pardew after the cup win was so fulsome. -

So it is okay to believe one bit of gossip is not true and another is? AP has been beaten with all kinds of rumour, are you going to defend him in the same way? -

How do we know that? Just because of a press release? Hmmmm So Pardew was lying when he said that he received a text fromNC querying his use of Guly for 5 mins? Curiouser and curiouser. -

So Reed wasn't involved in the 4 man committee? And if he will have no involvement with the 1st team what was all that stuff about Pardew's sacking and the need to have a united approach or whatever he said? It made it sound like that it was not working, now he is saying that there will be no unified approach??? -
Focus is one thing but when your "obsession" interferes with your decision making then that is cause for concern. As for your personal jibe, I'll let that slide.

What do you know of Burley's "drinking habits" DD? Do you really think an alcoholic could run for 26 miles? If you are that sure that he is such a drunk please forward the evidence.
-
No one wants him to fail Alps, but be honest, that post by Up & Away was a bit creepy wasn't it?
-
Ok Alps lets just clear some things up shall we? Pearson was not sh*t but he only won 3 games in 13 so was hardly a hero. Burley had the best win ratio of any manager until Pardew arrived and took us to the play offs. Hardly rubbish. There is no proof that he is an alcoholic. Lowe was not a misunderstooh hero. He kep the club afloat on small gates at The Dell. Had some success. Had some failures. Probably didn't eat babies. Cortese is not the biggest pr*ck in the Universe but if what Up & Away posted is true, the man needs some counselling. Has made alot of decisions ofl ate which I don't think are helpful to SFC. I don't know if Pardew deserved the sack or not. I don't believe the stories that were put out. I do believe it was more to do with a clash of personalities. I don't think he should have been (or was) sacked for football reasons. Moving on...
