  1. I remember his last game in the 1966 World Cup. It was against Mexico and he nearly scored with a diving header. As you say, his time was done when Sir Alf opted to do away with wingers from the next match onwards...to be fair to him though it did work!
  2. Far better to rush things and c*ck them up eh? They are buying a business. Think how long it takes to buy a house.
  3. Why? Is this one owner going to be the Chairman, manager, head coach etc etc. There are personality and ego clashes in most organisations, why should the new set up be any different? They can clash all they like so long as they turn things around at SFC.
  4. Pretty much spot on Sid, other than you can bet that Alpine will always put his money on the negative rather than the positive. And for the record Alpine, I hope the new owner, whoever he or she is, is a great success for the club. I do fear for MLT though. If we don't go up over the next three years the likes of Alpine will have the rope out for him. As for one shot at promotion, what rubbish. Redknapp blew in the first seaosn buy not buying a goal scorer. Burley didn't blow it. We came withinh a whisper of the play off final and would have made it but for a couple of errors by players. The season after he lost his best players and one of the Wilde Bunch came out and said that we were no longer going for promotion effectively...and you blame Burley??? You have a shot at promotion every season, just as you have a chance of going down. The loss of the parachute money makes it harder but teams are going up without that cash. As part of this administration business wouldn't it be great if we could get rid of the negative, whinging, anti-Saints fans like Alpine? People like him just pull the club down with the negativity and knee-jerk reactionary stances. I am still not goingh t sing from the rooftops because I have no idea who is buying our club and what it all means, but I will hope for the best and wish them every success. The people like Alpine who wanted Lowe, Burley etc to fail in effect wanted the club to fail, and they got they way. The fact that he and his ilk still bat on about the past is very disturbing. Hopefully we have a future and a bright one at that, but even if we overturn the 10 points problem and get promotion you just know that dear old Alpine will still be whinging on about Lowe...LOL And whatever you think Alpine, the new regime will still have to get a Cup Final, European football, 10 years of Prem football and a highest ever prem finish in order to equal your nemesis's record....think they will manage that in your lifetime?
  5. How many stayed away when we (unde Lowe) played in the Cup Final???
  6. Yes and well done in helping the club into Adminstartion and ensuring that we start next season - 10 points. Just brilliant.
  7. What about the staff at St Marys? It would affect their wages too.
  8. Oh my God, the start of a new fad....enter the LEON LUVVIES!!!!!
  9. Is Shearer a good manager or not? Who knows but so far no good. Lets see how he does with a full season of CCC football under his belt. Hero as a player, jury well and truly out as to his manger credentials.
  10. Shame he was prepared to see us go into the CCC and Div 1. But yay for him and his like if they have certain boundaries!!!
  11. We don't seem to hae too many options at the moment do we? I am not having a go at Salz in particular but it does make me laugh when he and his ilk are held up as saviours when what have they done since relegation from the Premiership? Eff all mate! So Ruper Lowe has an entourage on this forum, that is news to me. I don't want him back. Both Jonah and Nich have gone record to say that they want(ed) someone better. If we have anything in common it is that none of us thought that Wilde or Crouch were any better than Lowe - probably worse if truth be known. So that makes us Tiller Girls does it? I'll make it 100% clear just so as you know....I do not want Rupert Lowe back. If he came back with the best offer to save the club I would not through my toys out of the pram...but that ain't going to happen is it? When "heroes" like Salz actually stop prevaricating and do a lot more than "advise" Crouch I will sit up and take notice...until that time the only people I am going to take seriously are the people in a position to save this club. For better or for worse one of hose people seems to be Marc Jackson. Already it seems that Marc Jackson is taking over the Lowe role as pantomime villian. Perhaps we should see what he comes up with before we judge him. Just because people fail elsewhere it doesn't mean they will fail all the time. Out hero MLT championed Pinnacle and what is happening there?? Let's stop this whinging about past characters and see how this plays out before taking sides again eh?
  12. Ottery, you really need to move on. You are turning into another Alpine mate! I doubt if there is one person left here who wants Lowe back...we just want something better, something we did not get last time Lowe left. The Luvvies you refer to love the club and want the best for it, wht is so bad about that? Isn't it what we all want?
  13. I would love to get to the bottom of this as I keep reading that it was Lowe who put us into admin. My understanding was that Barclays pulled the plug and that it had nothing to do with Lowe. Correct or not? Also if Salz is supposed to be some kind of saviour that we are all clamoring for and he is advising Crouch, how come Crouch comes across as a well meaning nightmare for the club? Either he is not taking Salz's advice or Salz is giving rubbish advice as far as I can see.
  14. Euell's experience and BWPs pace could be a big plus in this league. DEcisions have to made quickly though and plans put in place. The longer this situation drags on the worse it is for the club. Fair play for Wotte for getting on with the job in hand - can't be easiy knowing you could be out of the door in a week or two...but he is saying and doing the right things right now.
  15. I work five minutes down the road so that is a plus I suppose.
  16. To be honest, how many here would give up a wage if their employers were struggling financially? They were signed on contracts that did not say if we are stuffed feel free not to take a wage. They might not have earned it but they were not on performance based wages sadly.
  17. He made some good decisions, he made some average decisions and he made some bad decisions. Like all of us then. Time to move on eh?
  18. Yes, I'm sure there is a syndrome for it. If not let's make one. The Alpine Syndrome. The poor afflicted harbour a secret admiration for the object of their hatred and this dichotomy brings out self loathing and self disgust. The afflicted need to revist their emotional turmoil on a daily basis and seek out internet chat boards where they post for hours to people who don't give a sh*t in a sad attempt to convince themsleves that they do not harbour these secret admirations and stirrings. They only fool themselves. What is sadder is that when the object of their attention leaves the stage, they can't deal with the the loss and spend even more time posting and pretending that said object is still on the scene. There is no cure.
  19. Delgado, a world class stricker for £3m quid. What a mistake!!! LOL The mistake was not checking him out thoroughly fitness wise. Decent player, would have been a steal if fit.
  20. "Puring" (?) petrol? Surley that was Wilde? Lowe is hardly a spendthrift is he? Isn't that what people have complained about for years? That he doesn't like to spend money? Isn't that what we needed since the parachute payment went? Someone keeping a tight rein on the purse strings. Of course you knew this would happen Alpine, because you always expect the worst. You are like a roulette player who always plays "black". Sh*t happens. And guess what, you heard it hear first but we are all going to die. See, not so hard to be right about sh*t is it?
  21. Very sad news. It puts all this other stuff into perspective. RIP
  22. Cup final, European football, highest premier league finish, in Svennson and Niemi possibly signed the best defensive pairing in the Prem...we have had SOME good things to cheer about during his time.
  23. Yep, I'd sign up for that...and can we include a gagging order for those intent on dragging up Lowe at every available opportunity. If it is closure you want, go get some therapy.
