I do not think that totally artificial creation of "atmosphere" is the answer to improving the team/fan experience and performance on the pitch . It seems a strange situation that a team cannot play football properly unless they face a wall of sound when comming on the pitch. Putting up arches on the pitch and playing EPL theme adds nothing to the fans enjoyment either. What makes it a good experience for fans is watching positive attractive football where our team out scores the other team however close the match was. Leaving the fans with bleeding ears before the first kick of the ball is not the answer . EPL seems to be heading toward the American experience where the fans part is to pay out ££££££££ and sit back back while the same show is played out in front of them week on week .

It appears we have been sent the same email reply , can anyone going to the next home game let us know if the WBA was a one off ? For me it was only the volume that was unbearable and posscould finish a few mins earlier . Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback in regards to our PA system. Firstly we would like to take this opportunity to apologies for the sound levels at our recent home fixture with West Bromwich Albion. It appears the system may have been turned up above appropriate levels and have since been made aware of this issue. We are sorry for any discomfort this may have caused you and fellow supporters. We have liaised closely with the relevant members of staff and sound engineers and have been assured that levels for our next home fixture with Burnley will be reduced to well within decibel limits. In regards to the why the PA system has been louder, the honest answer is that both the players and support staff have requested louder music in an increase to build atmosphere in the build up to kick off. Our players and sports psychologists select music designed to ‘pump them up’ and is why the music level is raised in the minutes before the match starting. For our home fixture with Burnley, what we would ask from all of our loyal and passionate supporters, is that they take every opportunity to chant, sing and cheer our players and help raise the atmosphere, so that our players can rely on the support from the stands as well as the PA system. Kind Regards Daniel Fair reply and well done to the club for that.

I've emailed the supporters relations via the club website as I believe the volume was above any H&S limits for decibels . I had my fingers jammed in my ears but the vibration continued through my bones ! After 30 years + working in power stations I know what damage noise can do so over to them.

Good match to watch despite usual worries (ie Forster and slow play in final third) Gabbi must get fed up making those runs into space and being ignored and Davis not releasing the ball around the box until too late etc. Tadic also guilty and failed to win a penalty , looked like Foster got a hand on his leg but his dive was unconvincing plus I think Refs are unlikely to give him benifit of the doubt ! Well done Yoshi , quietly getting on with the job and forcing a save from Foster. Main complaint is the volume of the pre match "music" which despite blocking my ears could be felt through my bones , we were in row YY and that may be why but I'm sure it exceeded all health limits and this from someone who worked in power stations for over 30 years !!! It also went on too long and intruded on the kick off.

Of course Leicester have sold Kante (Wanyama) and Drinkwater(Morgan) and Mahrez (Mane) wants out so Puel will be right at home !
-
Austin seems to have shot his bolt , may be linked with his playing away activities , or he may be in terminal decline combined with the team style of play !!

Fortunatly J Rod is being played out wide so hopefully will be again on Sat , playing people out of position is the new norm it appears.

Not the Chinese people but the Chinese government , China has been recognized for years as the next country to dominate the world as western powers fade . If you look at where things are made when in America or here you will see that it is made in China . NFL gear , jackets , shirts etc all made in China . Investment abroad can finish at a stroke if the Chinese Govt think it's not serving their purpose . So that's the dilemma for the Prem and championship teams do they struggle on or take the Yankee dollar or Chinese yuan ?

ALL Chinese investment around the world is about CHINA FIRST . Buying land in Africa to produce food for China , "investing in countries" (via loans ) building dodgy roads , houses , etc then being allowed to exploit natural resources from said country while using locals as slave labour is the game , a bit like the British Empire or the American world domination. No good will come of Chinese investment for Saints , it is all about China getting world cup for the kudos nothing else. FIFA are totally bribable as we know and this is the Chinese modus operandi as always. Russia has shown the way with olympics and now WC ........

10th consecutive home league game sold out
East Kent Saint replied to Nordic Saint's topic in The Saints
I assume that includes season ticket holders who are counted even though they don't all turn up. -
His problem is if he has time to think then he will miss the goal completely , if he just hits the ball then he may score ! As our final third play is so laboured he would probably be a bad buy !!

Kooman on £6M a year , spent £140M on players (unlike his old club who wouldn't match his vision) but his team can't play for toffee . His team selection has been described as fitting round pegs in square holes . So , what if Kooman had stayed at Saints and bought in £140M "worth" of players would Saints be scoring for fun ?

Now looking forward to Shelvey marking Coutinho at St James !!!!

It makes one wonder if the root of all these teams playing midfield possession football but useless in final third are a result of the need for coaches to obtain coaching badges . Someone seems to have set a blueprint of Barca in stone and trained all coaches to follow the method . (bloo y hell a score in third quarter in NFL match on BBC2 , boring or what ) Unfortunately none of these teams have a Messi to whiz across penalty area and score endless goals. Most comments about Everton were their total failure up front , only 1 shot on goal in second half even with talisman Rooney on the pitch.
-
Saints need an attacker who is good in the air , can win a header in the box and get shots in . Pelle always had plenty of half chances that he hit first time , of course a lot of these shots went wide etc but some were goals. I would think Gabbi would feed off a target man like Pelle who had alot of flicks and chest ons etc and at least moved the ball on quickly not taking endless touches before losing all momentum.

I think MLT was content to stay at Saints and that could be seen as a lack of ambition but the grass is not always greener . His skill and goal scoring ability is something we could do with now ! It was thought at the time he should have got more caps for England but if the manager takes against you , you don't get picked .
-
He was thought to be a good buy on here from what I remember , perhaps he had already peaked before Saints . Maybe he needed certain players around him or maybe a loss of confidence after not being in the team for so long .....

How can we improve the atmosphere at St Mary's?
East Kent Saint replied to SKD's topic in The Saints
No I am not taking the pee I genuinely felt depressed at the level of hatred and the foul and abusive language directed at P'mouth players even at the Chapel end in front of families and young supporters . Rivalry is one thing but that was totally over the top and achieved nothing . -
How can we improve the atmosphere at St Mary's?
East Kent Saint replied to SKD's topic in The Saints
The worst match I have been to at St Marys was the FA Cup v P'mouth when we lost 2-4 , apart from the gap in football ability the level of over the top bile directed at the players etc of P'mouth was embarrasingly awful . So hostile atmosphere no , the most enjoyable match was the 8-0 v Sunderland when the whole ground was enjoying themselves (apart from a few in the away end) . We even saw that Tiff Needell on the way out ! -
Saints v Palace Match Thread and Reactions
East Kent Saint replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
2nd on MotD ! must have been the woy factor . Good game even after watching City ! The team should watch the City match to see how to attack at pace and make quick decisions . We looked so much better than last week , Lemina highlighted for being all over the pitch protecting the defence and helping the attack as well as being strong in midfield and Bertie played well on these highlights , did VDD get a touch after he came on ? BTW how did Walker not get a red card ? Ref gave City the benefit of doubt , perhaps the speed of movement of players and ball didn't give him time to think/act. -
Mane now in Baca and Real's sights , interesting transfer window next summer for Liverhampton

Probably had to rinse his mouth out , eating sh!t leaves a nasty taste ...................

The whole point is Cortese was spending money the club didn't have , the club had to get some dodgy offshore loans etc just to keep going . Afterwards the club has had to cut their cloth and is now in the usual position of all clubs outside the top 6 or so . ie we can't buy big name players or pay £300k a week wages and have to pick up bargains and do the best we can.

Among the reasons for Palace's dissatisfaction were: De Boer's apparent diversion from a number of agreements reached when he signed, such as the team's formation. The squad's struggles to adapt to the style of play he tried to implement. Poor feedback on planning, methods and sessions. Atmosphere at the training ground. His use of, and relationship with certain players, such as Damien Delaney, Martin Kelly, Joel Ward, Jairo Riedewald and Lee Chung-yong. A perceived lack of input on transfer activity. De Boer is understood to have been unhappy with factors including: The pre-season schedule organised before his arrival. The involvement of Parish in first-team matters. The delay in signing defender Mamadou Sakho. So team formation was part of his agreement , may be Les is our problem !

If VVD is being reintergrated into the first team then he should play when fit , lets face it one shot on goal in a home match means we are desperate !
