Totally agree. This is Saints we are talking about so I've got very low expectations for this coming week. The players we have just don't look suitable for what Still wants to do. This is the issue when you go from giving Martin a free reign then changing the approach with the subsequent manager(s). However we've had almost the whole window to change that and are yet to do so.
-
Do we really need yet another thread on him?
-
Agreed it was poor yesterday. We shouldn't be playing a back five but I think everyone should give him the benefit of the doubt until the window has closed. If we get the players in for him and he's still playing 3/5 at the back with AA up top then fair enough, have a pop.
-
Doesn't help when you've got an incredibly one paced team. In terms of options yesterday ahead of the back 3: Manning - slow Downes -slow Charles - slow Robinson - slow Fernandes - slow Stewart - slow Downs - doesn't look particularly quick Fraser & Armstrong - used to be quick but both have lost most of their pace.
-
I've been saying that a proper CDM is essential but it won't happen.
-
Manning was awful for that yesterday.
-
I'd certainly sell either Armstrong or Archer to facilitate Sargent. He'd cost £20m. Johannsson is available for £2m apparently. No brainer. Azaz available for £12m. That would be 3 of the best players in the championship and combined they'd cost £10m less than what we are getting for Dibling.

My Leeds supporting mate said we could do worse than signing Ramazani from them. Quick skillful winger who got 7 goals last season and is now down the order. He reckons he's available on loan. Edit - just seen he's in talks with Valencia.
-
That's what the best managers in Europe do. They bounce back from adversity.
-
Tbh I couldn't care less what they've done in the past. I've seen them play for us for long enough to say they are terrible.
-
I do agree but just trying to add balance. The options he's got are crap.
-
You described the problem straight away. We don't have Adams anymore. Despite a number of critics, none of our current strikers seem to be able to offer us what he did.
-
Must admit I did notice this. It really doesn't help when you've got players like Manning and Downes in particular who are wedded to their best mate RM and can only pass the ball backwards and sideways.
-
Imagine a poor end to the window and a draw or a loss next weekend to Watford. I'd be absolutely dreading the Pompey game.
-
Fraser and Robinson who have looked our most dangerous players so far. Why can't they play out wide?
-
A 10, a winger, a striker and a keeper. That's the bare minimum needed. I'd like to see a proper defensive midfielder too.
-
He was more than good enough in our first two matches. Poor today like a lot of them. I'm more worried about Downes who looks like e league two player at the moment.
-
Anyone else think Fernandes may push for a move this week? Thought his body language was very poor today and he looked way off it.
-
We've still got a lot of the donkeys who were absolutely shite last season. We need at least 3-4 players to come into this side and improve us.
-
Downes is crap
-
He needs to change this formation and get Armstrong off. So blunt going forwards.
-
I keep seeing this but why can't Fraser play on the right and Robinson on the left? Surely Robinson plays on the left in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 even once we've signed a new winger or two?
-
I'm fairly sure our wage bill will be a fair bit lower this time around.
-
"I'd rather lose playing this way than win playing a different style" Utterly ridiculous and showed complete disregard for the club and fans.
-
I must admit it doesn't really feel like him leaving has really weakened us in the sense that he hasn't shown up since December. Even before that, he was a bit inconsistent (to be expected at that age). However if Fernandes goes, it leaves a huge hole.
