  1. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2013/feb/08/mauricio-pochettino-southampton-manchester-city article on MP with a view to the city match "The club's new Argentinian manager is aiming to vindicate his appointment with a victory over Manchester City....."
  2. Fine, but have you got the right to enforce your opinion on the wider of society? Does it bother you if two gay people you've never met get "married"?
  3. Which surely makes it even harder for the trust to get a 51% stake?
  4. I agree, it is disgusting that in our free and open society people like you are discriminated against.
  5. So does that mean the PDT has been completely gazumped? wonder if HO is ****ing himself.
  6. OK, thought I'd get in early with this now that we have a results predictor thread. Below are the points totals for teams being relegated in the last ten years and those teams that just avoided relegation: 2011/12: 16th - 38pts, 17th - 37pts, 18th - 36pts, 19th - 31pts, 20th - 25pts. 2010/11: 16th - 42pts, 17th - 40pts, 18th - 39pts, 19th - 39pts, 20th - 33pts. 2009/10: 16th - 36pts, 17th - 35pts, 18th - 30pts, 19th - 30pts, 20th Pompey - 28pts. *added back their deduction 2008/09: 16th - 36pts, 17th - 35pts, 18th - 34pts, 19th - 32pts, 20th - 32pts. 2007/08: 16th - 37pts, 17th - 36pts, 18th - 36pts, 19th - 35pts, 20th - 11pts. Derby GD of -22 kept Fulham up 2006/07: 16th - 39pts, 17th - 38pts, 18th - 38pts, 19th - 34pts, 20th - 28pts. GD of -22 kept Wigan up 2005/06: 16th - 42pts, 17th - 38pts, 18th - 34pts, 19th - 30pts, 20th - 15pts. 2004/05: 16th - 39pts, 17th - 34pts, 18th - 33pts, 19th - 33pts, 20th - 32pts. Saints FFS 2003/04: 16th - 41pts, 17th - 39pts, 18th - 33pts, 19th - 33pts, 20th - 33pts. 2002/03: 16th - 45pts, 17th - 44pts, 18th - 42pts, 19th - 26pts, 20th - 19pts. Wet Spam down with 42pts! So the lowest points total for survival in 10 years has been 34 points, think we'll need at least 40 to be very confident. We're on 24 pts with 13 games left, think we need to win at least 4 of those and pick up a few draws.
  7. Are we yet at the stage where someone calculates how many points should be good enough based points totals achieved by teams in the last ten years, and then people argue about interpreting it properly?
  8. Complete strawman: 1. no one on this thread is 'against' marriage 2. I don't know anyone who is 'against' marriage. The only person I know well who has kids and lives with a partner who isn't married is a total Tory. 3. why bring in the issue of catholic monarchs? is this a particular bug bear of yours? 4. Even if someone is "against" marriage why should it follow that they also have strong views on catholics being future monarchs? I consider myself a liberal. I am in favour of people getting married if that is their wish. I think that belief in God is absurd. I think much of organised religion is absurd. I think that having a monarchy is absurd in this day and age. I couldn't care less whether the monarch is protestant, catholic, muslim, atheist etc. I'd guess the vast majority of those who oppose Catholics becoming monarchs will be Church of England stalwarts in which case they're unlikely to be "liberals" and certainly not against marriage.
  9. Who are the "liberals" against marriage? Bizarre post.
  10. It's a tricky one cos normally I don't care much for people talking about luck and fair play for Reading for picking up quite a few points in January. BUT in at least three of those matches - WBA, Newcastle and Chelsea - they should have been dead and buried by half time and relied on profilgate finishing by the other team. On the other hand you have to hand it to ALF. He may be a rat-face little **** but he know how to finish given the chance.
  11. I think you've nailed it Turkish, Cameron could have saved a whole lot of hassle if he'd have just told the gays to shut up and move on. Ever thought of going into politics?
  12. I said i agreed with him. Do you approach all issues with the same level of passion and interest? A "mongboard" WUM and a few weirdos wanting heterosexual civil partnerships is hardly equivalent to hundreds of thousands of people being granted the right to marry.
  13. in the eyes of thousands of Gay people who couldn't say they were "married". Semantics I know but rather symbolic. http://www.findlaw.co.uk/law/family/marriage_and_civil_partnerships/500385.html Essentially they grant the same legal rights and protections.
  14. I agree, you should write to your local MP and begin a campaign for the literally tens of people who care.
  15. I don't want to come across as too precious but it was me that was the orginator of that Corp Ho ****take
  16. Have we got crossed wires? I thought you said you wanted a Civil Partnership because you didn't want anything religious. I was referring to a marriage conducted by a civil registrar not a civil partnership.
  17. They have equal rights NOW. Civil Partnerships were only created to give Gays more rights without making them equal to Heteros. So the dreadful inequality you imagine is only the result of initial discrimination against gays. Did you mean "choice" in that last sentence? Or did you mean you demand the chance to be gay and get married in which case I say go for it.
  18. It would need to be small enough to get in but big enough to be visible - probably a similar size to that "duck off Lowe" one.
  19. And yet it is only "hetrophobic" in the first place because the Government at the time didn't want to give Gays equal rights.
  20. Civil marriages have no religious overtones at all, in fact any religious references are explicitly banned.
  21. I'd happily chip in if someone wanted to organise a giant banner. Any suggestions? My starter for ten "Redknapp: can't read c_nt"
  22. You're right for too long straight people have been discriminated against. Seriously though, the only reason that the example you link exists is because up until now people were determined not to give gays equal rights. I can't see why anyone would choose Civil partnership over marriage in the first place and now that gays can get a marriage maybe they'll just get rid of civil partnerships altogether
  23. Great point, been in Accountancy for ten years and most of that time I've spent wishing I was doing something more inspiring, creative and rewarding. The money is good which is why I haven't changed career yet. If you're determined to get into it then you really need to hawk your CV round as many places as possible. With respect most big employers look for a 2:1 and an accountancy degree doesn't count for that much so building up experience and proving your desire through temping is good. If you want to go into practice (tax, audit etc) then you might find it hard with a 2:2 to get in with a big name but you'll be able to join a smaller practice and if you do well in your studies then a move to a bigger firm is a well trodden path. Have a look at the graduate recruitment schemes of big private sector employers (BAE, Tesco, BA, etc) as well as public sector (NHS, Civil Service) - they all offer routes to a good qualification and good career opportunities.
  24. Yeah, and when are they going to let men have the right to have abortions?!
  25. Not sure if this has already been noted but the Pompey shops are now closed. The company running the shops is apparently on the brink of administration http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/business/local-business/pompey-shops-are-closed-to-customers-1-4756248
