Says that Pardew is only buying players to get us back into the CCC at present. This is the first 3 years of the 5-year plan. He will think about buying Premier League quality players when we get promoted from League 1.

Also Jaidi is still thinking over the offer we made.

Lets hope AP has other CB targets lined up as this is turning into another Stern John delay in signing the contract.

He has

"However, the longer a deal for Jaidi drags on, the more concern will grow it will not be completed. Should that be the case, it is understood Pardew has other targets in mind....."

So the plan is to stay in L1 for three years. Mmm, well that's a little different to previous 'reports' that suggested two, however provided there's a clear plan then fine. It is clear we will not be obtaining Prem quality in L1 - thats not an issue and pretty much a given.

My only slight concern is that we also heard a similar story when we dropped to the CCC and look where that got us. I know it's a different regime, renewed hope etc., however this league is as tough to get out of as the CCC. There are clubs with strength that will be fighting tooth and nail to get out with us. In this league, it is not about attracting Prem quality players with money - its about utilising money in the right way to attract the right players that can battle their way out of the league. Hopefully, Jaidi will sign because he is exactly the type of player that we need. Hopefully, Wotton will not persist in the team because despite his heart, he is the standard of player in CM that will keep us in League One. IMO.

See, that's good for me, it shows that that there are exact goals, and that there will be backing for those goals. 3 years to get out League 1, 2 years to get on the Championship. Good stuff.

Good point, I was focusing on the negative.... down negative man, down!

If it's a five year plan to get to the EPL then it'll be interesting to see how they want to utilise the academy and how the current youngsters in the first team grow in stature to, firstly gain promotion in League One and then compete in the CCC.

I think if we're relying on the youngsters to get us out of L1, we'll be here for a lot longer than 3 seasons TBH. Reading what AP has said, he'll not be risking the future to dogma regarding the youth. If they're good enough they will get in - if not they will not. The present crop are largely too slight of build or not pacey enough (e.g. for the wings) IMO and will not get into the team fighting to get out of L1.

You start to worry only when players like Jaidi say things like... "it was always my dream to play for the Saints".

I'd much rather he said to McLeish, "Southampton, Boss? Where's that? Is it in Croatia or Bosnia?"

Then we'll know he's sincere!

Plymouth are Second division, Saints are Third, where would you go having just played at Emirates, Old Trafford and Anfield?

I'm thinking about players such as Lloyd James, currently 21 with one full season played. He'll be 26 at the end of the five year plan at hopefully at his peak. There are others and with the likes of Davis, Woton, Perry and Murty gone, will they be seen as the old heads? Also, there has been quite a bit of emphasis on the acadamy providing players so it'll be interesting to see what plans the management have especially when you consider the high number of player loans from EPL clubs to the lower divisions.
