John Boy Saint Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 Anyone know the reason for the sudden sprouting of blue signs alongside the Motorways telling you which road you are on and the numbers on the bottom are Kilometres from the start of the motorway. Seems like we are pulling our trousers down for Brussels again.
Smirking_Saint Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 If they are the ones i am thinking of they have been there bloody ages !! Plus they are pretty good if you break down as the AA will know exactly where you are

John Boy Saint Posted 13 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 13 August, 2009 That what I thought, been there for years as far as I can remember! Probably have been around Southampton, most of the ones that I have seen further afield are sparkly, shiny and new.
Post-it note Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 They are just new marker posts. Mainly for use by emergency services etc to pinpoint exact locations. They also have either an A or a B on them depending on which carriageway you are on.

Baj Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 on a seperate note, I do wish they would stop refering to the M3 as East or West bound, yes yes, I know it technically is, but surely everyone views it as North / South bound?

Only those south of Winchester. To me it is East/West.
John Boy Saint Posted 14 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 14 August, 2009 "How will the information be communicated to the public" Well none of that has been done, I have driven over 90,000 miles since the introduction of these signs many miles of which on Motorways, and I have to find out about them by asking the question on a Football related website!!! COMEONYOUREDS Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 If they are the ones i am thinking of they have been there bloody ages !! Plus they are pretty good if you break down as the AA will know exactly where you are you say this, but I spent a good 2 hours waiting for the AA on teh hardshoulder of the M3 after giving them the details of the sign, turned out they had been driving up and down the motorway a copule of junctions furhter south. WTF is that all about

Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 20 August, 2009 Share Posted 20 August, 2009 There's places NORTH of winchester? Apparently so. I went to a place called Beaconsfield today. It made Winchester look like Vegas.
