Kadeem Hardison Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 Sounds like it could be Mike Patterquake and Steve Newshues, who were both on the backroom staff in the 70s.
hamster Posted 27 September, 2009 Author Share Posted 27 September, 2009 Jim Clunie, I think he was a physio. Good shout DG. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Clunie Maybe he stopped off here before taking the reigns at St Mirren as he went AWOL for a few years before. Junction 9 Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 Sounds like it could be Mike Patterquake and Steve Newshues, who were both on the backroom staff in the 70s. I agree, seems the logical conclusion I think I had Newshues autograph myself on an old programme. It's in my Dad's loft I think.
Dimond Geezer Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 I've just dug out Duncans fabulous book (In that number) & our man, Mr Clunie first pops up in the 75-76 team photo, but has disappeared by the 78-79 photo. He may have been around then, but there are no coaches, or any back-room staff in that particular photo.

He may have been around then, but there are no coaches, or any back-room staff in that particular photo. From Wiki: "Clunie went on to manage **Saints from 1978 to 1981, replacing Alex Ferguson. He took St Mirren into Europe for the first time ever after they finished third in the league in 1981. Clunie also managed Kilmarnock from 1981 to 1985." ** as in St Mirren ta

hamster Posted 27 September, 2009 Author Share Posted 27 September, 2009 whats the link for page on ebay may take a bid! It'll be on later this evening I hope. I'll bump the thread on 'Buy/Sell' when it goes up. I've got lots of stuff to sell, so anyone finding it can add my account to their favourite sellers (link on the listings) and set their e-0mail options to update you every time a new item goes up. I'm just about to upload the pic of the other autographs within the next 1.2 hour hopefully, but lost my ImageShack pw.

The other one just looks like a scribble to me, but could it be Graham Baker? All suggestions greatly appreciated. L1Minus10 Posted 28 September, 2009 Share Posted 28 September, 2009 I thought your Curran was Funnell. I now think that Graham Baker looks a bit like Alan Ball Channon/Homes is Holmes

david in sweden Posted 5 October, 2009 Share Posted 5 October, 2009 (edited) Mike Pickering was centre back around that time. Steve Neville was mostly a reserve I recall Steve as the sort of player who shone brightly as a winger " in the Reserves". ...at the same time as (the late) Austin Hayes, Funnell, Hebberd, Waldron, Shipley and Tony Sealy. Steve actually scored 21 goals for Reserves in 1977-78 but never got started in the first team where he was understudy to a certain ..Alan Ball at 7 and Ted Mc Dougall no.11... and so had no chance to progress in out First Division side (Prem.) at the time, and Lawrie Mac " let him go ...." His move to Exeter was highly beneficial and he scored lots of goals for them. He had 3 spells there ...as well as terms with Shef. Utd and Bristol City. Career figs. were quite impressive, too After only 6 apps. (1 goal with Saints) he went on to play almost 500 league games and netted an impressive 134 goals. -------------------------------------------------------- btw : MIke Pickering looked a good buy in 1977, but was only with us one season before moving back to Yorkshire. He " apparantly" had a difference of opinion with Lawrie Mac...end of story ! Edited 5 October, 2009 by david in sweden
