benjii Posted 30 October, 2009 Share Posted 30 October, 2009 I know there are build up threads already but everyone's talking about the match itself (which is fair enough!). What I would like to know, as you may have guessed, is where the location of most fans will be pre-match? Are people drinking in Leyton or is there somewhere else on Central Line that people will be stopping off at? Many thanks.

saints_is_the_south Posted 30 October, 2009 Share Posted 30 October, 2009 Have a few in central London in the morning then probably head to this place i think - http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/34/3403/Birkbeck_Tavern/Leyton
RedAndWhite91 Posted 30 October, 2009 Share Posted 30 October, 2009 Was just thinking the same thing - I think we are getting to the Hole in the Wall which is just outside Waterloo for about 11 o'clock, but I dunno what we're doing after that, whether we are just drinking in there or finding a pub in Leyton or elsewhere, i'll try and find out. Yes, it's a Sports type pub and YES the Saturday's and mid weeks do tend to attract the Leyton Orient fans and a lot of away fans but the place has good, well served ales with a several selections - Rita's Special being exactly that, special but what happened to her namesake I don't know or why she got a brew named after her? Anyway, the friendly ladies behind the bar were great with their service and the sunshine and beer garden out back made the afternoon incredibly pleasurable and a place I will return. If you go, have a look at the building itself - it's almost unique and a lovely looking building." Sounds good! We will take it over!

KK the 2nd Posted 30 October, 2009 Share Posted 30 October, 2009 Liquid lunch at Hole in the Wall Waterloo, usually a good few saints get in there for London matches, then tube to the match (should take about 40 mins from Waterloo)
MadDogMatt Posted 30 October, 2009 Share Posted 30 October, 2009 The Birkbeck is a good pub and I will be there but as mentioned on one of the other *many* Orient threads, for those who want to go somewhere quieter perhaps with other halfs or youngsters and more - with respect - civilised than Leyton, Wanstead is a good choice. Its just two Central Line stops further east than Leyton and served by Wanstead and Snaresbrook tube stations which are at opposite ends of the same high street. Good pubs and bars, particularly the Wanstead end. Snaresbrook has a good size car park and is a recommended place to park to avoid the local Leyton Eastern European / India style traffic (from Soton take the M25 clockwise and M11 in instead of M25 antoclock and A2 Blackwall Tunnel in). Repitition fine accepted.

The Majestic Channon Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 Anyone know what the burgers are like at Hole in the Wall? Don't eat in there, i once saw mice tucking into a sheperds pie in the food counter. The wellington up the road is better.
